Common Questions and Answers about Percocet and hives

percocet

Avatar f tn While I was there, they gave me an iv with fluids, 60mg of prednisone, and because my hives were painful and did not itch they gave me 20mg of percocet. With my fever and generally feeling of being out of it, I did not tell them I am a addict, not to mention my husband was there and he doesn't know of the situation. Anyways, I am worried how I will feel tomorrow with the percocet being in my system. Am I going to feel any type of withdrawl? Do I have to start my ticker over?
Avatar n tn My allergist has not prescibed cortisone because it is only a short term solution and the hives usually come back with a vengence. I am presently controlling my Hives with 10 mg of Zyrtec and then 50 mg of Benadryl, both taken at night. Here is a list of potenial hive aggravating foods and medications: beer, berries, chocolate, citrus, nuts, shellfish, tomatoes, wine. Medications: Aspirin, Non-steroidal/ antiinflammatory drugs (such as Alleve, Advil, etc), and codeine preparations.
Avatar n tn My palms and forearms are breaking out in VERY itchy hives. The hives that appear on my palm are actually under the skin and scratching does not allieviate the itching. Icing the spots and liquid antihystamines offer only temporary relief. Along with the hives, random fingers have been getting stiff and are difficult to bend. The pain goes away in one day, but the pain seems to jump to other fingers.
558632 tn?1303471125 I just read a book "Thyroid Balance" that mentions Hives as a sometime Symptom of Graves. I beleive there have also been members here that have suffered with hives also with Hyperthyroid.
Avatar f tn my cousin has been taking hydrocodone and has had severe hives for 7 weeks now. she has quit taking the hydrocodone 6-7 weeks ago but the hives are still coming (every single day) and in different places on her body. is this an allergic reaction to the hydrocodone? and can it take this long for the hives to go away?
Avatar n tn headache, constipation/diarrhea, upset stomach and stomach pain, muscle and joint pain and rash. These varies from one patient to another. It could be that the rash you experienced looked like hives. (Although stress can also lead to hives). You can relate your experience at this link to the manufacturers to better address it : http://www.lipitor.com/about-lipitor/side-effects.aspx Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I had to renew my thyroid meds, blood pressure meds and percocet meds with my Primary Care Doctor in November and my eye swelling was the only thing evident to him. I also talked to him about my fingers being stiff at that time. (Now in January, 2 months later than November, my fingers are worse.) I went back last week to my doctor because my symptoms are worse. He checked my throat, my lungs, heart, my ankles, etc. He prescribed a strong water pill.
Avatar f tn Soon after this increase I started noticing hives. Hives cover my torso, thighs, buttocks, and they are large welts, extremely itchy. I thought it was the levothyroxine so I switched to synthroid. This change had no effect. I saw an allergist and did a scratch test with everything coming back negative. I stopped taking meds and subsequently my tsh shot back up to 22. Hives keep getting worse, especially waking up In the morning.
Avatar f tn Can anyone shed some light on thyroid disease and hives (Utricaria) I ask because I have had hives ever since I lost my thyroid to cancer in 2016 I had them as a young kid out grew them until 2016 and just recently I had a sever hives attack that sent me to the Emergency Room they were so bad that the back and top of my head swelled had them almost every where except face and I'm a pretty vanilla eater ..same old same old food wise and no new meds or vitamins.
Avatar m tn Once our pediatrician examined him she said the hives were from walking pneumonia. He is on the third day of antibiotics but hives are still appearing on his face. They go away within the hour without any treatment. Has anyone heard of this? Shouldn't the antibiotics be helping if the hives are because of the pneumonia or are the hives from something else?
Avatar n tn Yes. Twelve years ago, when I began this journey, that's what led to my diagnosis. I had hives on top of my hives. I don't know the mechanism of how hep C causes these hives but assume it is some sort of autoimmune thing. Steroids eventually made me better. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Once the allergy is removed, you should see great improvement and backing down of those hives and itching. Since you were no long on the doc should have been able to identity the amount of time for this to leave your system. Having become allergic to any med is very important where your future is concerned. Secondary reactions can oftentimes be much worse than the initial.
610453 tn?1259104722 Your problems are almost identical to mine. I had severe hives 12 years ago that lasted for 1 year and then disappeared entirely. They returned 8 months ago and this time I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. I also have several large thyoid nodules that are to be removed in a few weeks. I have researched this and seen many specialists, and unfortunately I have been told by my ENT surgeon and endocrinologist that there is no guarantee that the surgery will cure the hives.
Avatar m tn For years, I've had itchy skin, and sometimes with hives. I also have MS. Is this related?
Avatar n tn Have the dentist wear non-latex gloves and avoid latex and see if you still get hives. And did you know that wiping any areas in contact with latex on your skin will deactivate the latex? Rinse with a mouthwash containing alcohol. Some metals will also produce hives. There are type I and type iv reactions, and in the past few years they have discovered that there can be delayed reactions to the protein in latex, not just to the chemical accelerants.
Avatar f tn , which was supposedly related to having taken diclofenac (I’m allergic to all pain killers). I had hives and urticaria in my body and swelling of my lips and throat also. I was even hospitalized two days so they could get the swelling down with steroids.
Avatar f tn ) After starting the antibiotic my cough cleared up very fast! However, the hives lingered, but got slightly better each night. The hives faded and by the 7th night they were gone. I had a few nights of no hives and I thought everything had resolved itself. But, last night I got another pretty bad episode of hives (rash all over legs and arms, some stomach that looks like a sunburn and was extremely itchy-woke me up.) I took benedryl and used an ice pack and it went away.
Avatar f tn I havent had any of my normal premenstrual cramps and i havent changed anything in my daily routine that could cause hives. This is my first outbreak of hives and it is primarily on my buttocks, thighs, and arms. Anyone have hives before they got a BFP.
Avatar f tn Well actually I got the Hives and Hep C and I didnt know I had HEP C until later, so that seems like that wouldnt be it..also..I am doing so well in my lifit is not stressful anymore, but Im getting them even more lately..weird..
Avatar m tn I was taking these for 3 days and the hives and heartburn have gone away. Every now and then I can feel the heartburn and I resume the meds. I do not take them everyday now because I do not want my body to get use to the meds. And I also avoid foods, drinks and other products that contain sulfites.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from hives for 6 months. Right now I am out of town on business and have hives on arms, inner thighs, and hands. These are the big ones that don't itch as much as they hurt. I have taken Benadryl and Prilosec which is a histamine 2 antagonist. I have 10 mg Prednisone tabs with me but the directions are to take 40 mg for angioedema and gradually decrease dosage.
Avatar f tn I suspect I have been suffering from hypothyroidism for a number of years. I am still experiencing symptoms with treatment and the hives come and go as they please. My DR sent me to an allergist who believes that the hives are a result of high TSH and I agree, but my latest labs came back 'normal'. DR did increase the Levothyroxine to 75mcg because she(thankfully) is treating me based on how I feel instead of the lab results.
Avatar f tn 2 years ago i had a hive for 4 mounth and then i get heald from hives. My ast/alt was normal during the hives and still normal yet. Now i dont have any hives and my alt/ast is normal, do you think there is an assosiation between hives and hep B??
Avatar f tn “1) Does my increase in hives indicate that my hives are not autoimmune?” and “2) Could my hives be related to a hormonal imbalance? I wonder this because I am pregnant and the only variable that could be responsible for the increased hives are the changing hormone levels in my body.” My answer is same for both: Prurigo of pregnancy is due to abnormal hormone levels, will disappear on delivery and reappear on subsequent pregnancy. Hence it is possible that your hives are hormonal in origin.
Avatar f tn I use Desonide Lotion and Ointment 0.05% for hives on my body and Atopiclair for hives on my face. I also take Atarax 10mg at night when I'm symptomatic. Like benedryl, Atarax will make your fatigue worse, that's why I take it only before bed. I used it all through tx. During tx, you are so dried out from the meds, benedryl may make it worse because it contains a decongestant. I also use Aveeno bath and Free and Clear laundry detergent.
Avatar m tn A few days later, a co-worker told me that I had hives and to stop the antibiotic. I did, but the hives continued. I went to a GP who put me on steroids twice but the hives continued and got worse. Then he had me go to an allergist. Allergist ruled out food and environment as the potential cause, so that left the internal body workings. After numerous tests and a third round of steroids, the only test that was abnormal was my TPO Antibody was high. I went to my endo.
Avatar f tn Gradually, I would be just watching tv or waking up from a nap and I would notice my buttocks covered in hives..raised large and extremely itchy. Gradually, it would break out on my legs. I couldn't really cover that up and it looked gross. It also itched terribly. Driving and running around doing errands made it worse. I took benadryl, which usually helped, but after a few days it would come back. The doctor put me on Zoloft for stress and considered the hives a seperate issue.
Avatar f tn s been constant. My lips also swelled really bad one day. I read about how thyroid disease and hives are related, so I had my labs drawn. Here are my results... TSH-0.24 T3-1.70 T4-0.89 My symptoms (besides the horrible hives) are high blood pressure, anxiety and mood swings, fatigue, constipation, mild hair falling out, rapid heartbeat, dry skin. So I've got symptoms of both hypothyroidsim and hyperthyroidism.
