I stopped drinking, but I do have to take percocets. not an addict, though. Since just taking percocet I itch incessently. Whats so weird about it is its worse when I ly on my back, which is how I sleep. Thank God for back scratchers!!! I rubb my back with rubbing alcohol, temp. relief. I can't take this anymore. Drinking to substitute pain management is not a good idea no matter how you look at it. Someone with Chronic Pain is more likely to make it a habit rather than someone who is not and looking for an occasional drink. When someone has Chronic Pain and finds that alcohol lessens the pain can make this habit forming and Dependant on the alcohol for pain relief. I'm not saying that anyone is an alcoholic here...

Hi Angie, If you indeed want to free yourself from opiates, you're in a great position to do so. If you're doing that good at 36 hours you should be through any additional uncomfortable withdrawal fairly soon. Alcohol will make withdrawal rougher, at least it did for me the withdrawal before last. This time I stopped everything; Alcohol, an occasional Xanax and Vicodin. Like you, I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. I never want to go through that again.

My midwife told me no alcohol but i was pregnant on my 18th birthday and i had a sip of wine and my baby is perfectly fine and is perfectly healthy. It was only a sip though not a glass. And i was 7 and a half months pregnant. Hope this helps.

Alcohol can interfere with the anti-virals used in Hep B, also. I tend to agree that if you're not on treatment and not having high viral load or elevated liver enzymes then the occasional drink isn't going to hurt. But everyone's "occasional" is different and one person's glass of wine is another person's tumbler of scotch.
