percocet and codeine

My husband whom I left to a percocet addiction recently received a Tylenol with Codeine prescription for his "BACK PAIN". Shouldn't he not have this narcotic due to his severe addiction to oxycodone?

if someone gave me a tylenol or a tylenol with codeine, id never know the difference from looking at it. i had never even seen a percocet until my dentist placed me on it in october. the only reason i caught onto it was that i felt really weird after taking it, so i called my mom and asked her to make sure she gave me a tylenol.

i was wondering why tylenol 3 would make me constipated? because percocet doesn't. would it be the codeine causing the constipation? is this a 'normal' question? and is it 'normal' to be constipated from one but not the other? thanks for all your help.

i had a problem with prescription medications several years ago, clonazepam, immovane and codeine. i went to a treatment center for almost one month and never touched another pill that i thought i could become addicted to - almost 8 years later, this past December, I fell and broke my hand and was prescribed Percocet by the ER doctor for the pain. I knew I should have refused it, I had never had this medication before, but was well aware of the addiction level of it.

Tylenol-Codeine No.3 is W A Y weaker than Oxycodone. And would be MUCH easier to come off of.

spel lastsfrom 30 min to an hour and a haf with spasms coming every 20 seconds, My surgeon is weaning me off the percocet and I wiil get 15 or the the final 10. I live in Australia and my doctor said I could take panadeine forte for pain. Not sure if you have it where you live but it's 500mg of paracetamol and 30mg of codeine. So I'm guessing you can have codeine during pregnancy but I'm not sure how much. Ask your doctor.

My friend was prescribed tyenol with codeine and klonopin during her lst trimester and her son is okay. But everyone is different so it is a persoanl decision that you have to make.

I have been taking percs for 2 years, previously took hydrocodein for 6 years, previosly took codeine and tynelon. All originally started in 1993, when I was in an accident. Tylenol 3 is a combination of acetaminophen, codeine and caffeine. Usually codeine like other opioids and derivative is associated with dizziness, unlike in your case where sleep is missing. Possibly effect of caffeine or due to excessive stress prior to surgery. This may increase the anesthetic requirements during surgery. You could visit the hospital tomorrow and anti anxiety, medicines could be prescribed which can allay anxiety preoperatively. Try to take it easy and all the best.

Percocet is oxycodone and tylenol #3 is codeine, a weaker narctoic but is also habit forming,,,,always look at your tylenol content as you could inadvertantly take more as it is not quite as strong....

pain associated with lupus. I did something really stupid and took a Percocet a few days before going to pain clinic appointment, of course I failed the test, first time ever happened. Those OTC Canadian codeines are very weak. And codeine is a weak narcotic. If I remember properly there are only between 8 and 12 milligrams of codeine per pill. A standard tylenol #3 contains 30mg of codeine. You are most likely way too anxious......but have some immodium on hand for loose stools........and emetrol for nausea.......look in medhelp's search engine for The Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocols.....and read them......keep posting with questions and for support......

Opiate is an adjective while opioid is a noun. Percocet is an opioid as is fentanyl. They are synthetic which means they are man made and not derived from a plant. Good job on getting off the Percocet!

Codeine (in the Tylenol 3) could be the culprit. It metabolizes in a complex way into morphine and many other substances. You might ask your PM about that? Could you stop the Tylenol 3 for a month and see if this affects your urinalysis?

he said it works just as good, but not addictive, but after the first pill i was rushed to emergency because i had a reaction, but they said it is very uncommon to have a reaction to that if you dont from codeine or oxy. and no i dont get why it is in the same family as morphine but dosnt get you hooked but its true, ask your dr.

Why is it that a Doc. can call in a refill for an hydocodone or codeine script. And cannot call in one for percadan/oxycodone ?

The historical use is more of a problem than the codeine - the codeine is one of the easiest narc's to w/d from and one of the harder to acquire a strong habit for - this is compared to oxy's, heroin, methadone and the whole list......its still no fun....but it is one of the easier to quit - taper as far as possible as circumstances permit...then treat it just as any other w/d (Thomas Recipe, Amino Acid Protocol) and it can be resolved.

I have had only had a few previous pain problems in my life. I have to work and have generally just taken Ibuprofen. The last two years I have had increasing pain. Pretty intense the last year. I have to keep my job and home so I still just take Ibuprofen. I found out I had very big benign tumors. I had an artery embolism to try to help. It causes great pain especially the fist night in the hospital.

The difference between Norco and Lortab is the amount of acetiminephen. The Norco only has .325 where as the Lortab has 500 of it. They BOTH have Hydrocodone NEITHER one has ANY codeine!!! It just depends on which one your Doctor orders for you. The Norco has sht MOST Hydrocodone - 10. Whereas the Lortab that you mentioned has 7.5 - Hydrocodone. Just remember the this is HYDROCODONE and NOT Codeine. :) The reason I know this is because I've been on both of these exact meds.

s a mild opiate so you may have WD from taking it. It is a barbituate, codeine and I think tylenol. Codeine for sure cause it was prescriped for my migraines about a month ago. I look everything up saw it had codeine in it and had to flush 'em. I just use Imitrex when having a really bad migraine.

Can't be much worse than the lady next to me crying over a gravol shot and popping Percocet when I was in the hospital. Heck, they'll give you morphine if you need it. I, myself, would try avoid narcotics at all cost. (Yes, codeine is a narcotic).

My mom has been addicted to fiorinal with codeine for over 20 years now. in addition to that she has been, at the same time, taking xanax, percocet, valium, and soma's. she was taking upwards of 30+ fiorinal daily at one point but has gone down to about 6-10 a day right now, but still mixing with the other benzo's. she recently tried to get off them and had the withdrawal seizures.
