The best thing your friend can do is take good care of himself, eat healthy food, stay hydrated, keep active and busy. Stay away from sugar, soda, and simple carbs. Do not consume caffeine at least 6 hours prior to bedtime. Take a look at my blogs about options for detox and recovery. Try staying away from any products with caffeine and sugars and drink chamomile teas through out..It will help you replacing fluids and take a bit of the edge from anxiety. A bit of walking helps and so as warm baths. Wish you good luck!

Hello. I have been taking about 30 mg of percocet a night for about 2 and a half months. Every now and then I would skip a night. Basically I take 4 7.5 pills between 4-10 pm. If I stop now, would it affect me? Should I taper off or just stop? Is 30 mg a lot or a little of it?
I just had a PM chat with someone else and they said to watch out for it (Ultram, Toramadol) as well. I got their point and think I'll taper down the Percocet to nothing and walk away at least for a month. I want to see if my body will take over and moderate the pain on it's own. The first time I had this problem (1992) nobody gave me a thing for pain and nothing worked. I took 4 advil every 6 hours and I destroyed my stomach but didn't take any stricly narcotic medications.

It started a little more than a year ago when I first started experiencing acute irritable bowel like symptoms and being in college I did not agree with the symptoms at all and after struggling with my anxiety medication, I turned to percocet. I could do a bump of a 30 mg pill and feel good for 5 hours and now it takes a half. Its kind of scary when I look at the correlations.

So, obviously he's an idiot because percocet is oxycodone, and so is oxycontin, right? So he won't refer me for any program. And of course, I've got a ton of pills left, I don't know, probably ten 20 mg. extended release, and 25 5 mg percocet. I anyone's help on how to taper myself without going crazy. Plus, I don't even know if I have the willpower to do it. I'm sure once I stop taking them I'll be slammed with chronic migraines again.
My main thing is that I think about it and I count the hours and stare at the clock! Current situation.....I am 8.5 hours into this!! Ugh i know, that is NOTHING! I am having body aches, hot and cold flashes, and just feeling like crap. I know, i know, the worst part is AHEAD! PLEASE HELP!!!!
though on what the effects of fioricet has on the baby as it has butalbital, and caffeine Barbituets.. are a strong medication that crosses the placenta..You might look it up Knowledge is awareness... I wish you well and your baby well..
Well, my mouth still feels raw, and am getting more little blisters, and I think it may be a reaction from the Percocet. Bob, I know you are gonna make it, and my heart will be with you. I know it won't be an easy thing to do, but you will make it because you want to. I am trying to find a site on aol, that use to be here, ask a dr or something like that. Do you know what I'm referring to? Have a great holiday yourself, if I don't hear from you before.
He had a lot of medical problems. So began the journey with oxy, hydrocodone and Percocet. I believe he is addicted. How can he detox off this at home?
I wouldn't take it.
But to the point where I cant do anyyhing and I ge lt light headed and wanna puke .
Jifmoc gave you some good tips. Along with that, be sure that you are drinking a ton of water, gatorade, and juice. No caffeine. It will make your anxiety worse. Potassium ( pills or bananas, kiwi fruit ) helps the restless leg feeling, and muscle cramps. Hot baths with epsom salt also help muscle pain and pull out the toxins. It helps you to relax also. The opiate withdrawls usually peak at days 3-5, depending on amount and duration of use.
Many who have helped me know I am withdrawing from Percocet/Vicodin. I have been reading posts and see this anxiety flare up seems to be normal and that around day 80 to 90 it gets a lot better, but I have also noticed a lot of people who get relief had to start antidepressants and anti anxiety meds. I have never had anxiety in my life and thankfully haven't had to take antidepressants. Do you think this will resolve on its own or will I have to eventually go on meds?
I had hernia surgery and was prescribed percocet 10mg.. It been 2 months and have stopped them but feeling really depressed and anxious. How long will this take to subside??? I usually half the 10mg and take half at a time. at most take 5 halfs a day..???
There are some otc meds that can really make us loopy. Make sure you read all the side effects. I know l-tyrosine is recommended for energy often but even that can create anxiety. Also if you are on certain anti-depressants you shouldn't take it. Just google everything before you take it lol.
For the last 4 years I’ve been using nutrition—Intravenous and oral—to rebuild and repair the biochemistry pathways in the body and mind. Over four years experience —this includes heroin, and all other street drugs, alcohol, and prescription medications--has taught me that natural detox works 100 times better than detox formulated and predicated by the use of other mind altering chemicals.
There are a lot of that won't drink caffeine because it gets their anxiety up and although I love coffee now, when I am going through through the w/ds I also don't want any part of it. Guess it is subjective. I agree with Evolver in you shouldn't take NSAIDs when they are needed for a symptom they are suitable for except in the case of baby asprin which some people take for their heart.
I drink only one cup of coffee a day bacause I read that it restricts the flow of blood to the baby and that a baby can't metabolize caffeine like an adult. I'm wondering if coffee is so bad, then how can the dr.s be so non-chalant about oxycodone. I'm afraid that oxycodone will have adverse affects on the growing baby especially in the early stages. I'm only three weeks pregnant (gestation age). I have tried mentho and camphor patches and Tylenol, but they are negligently effective.
The stop eating certain fish, drinking even minute amount of alcohol, caffeine and diet drinks, they stop smoking, etc.... They do things that usually are extremely hard and are usually out of character. You are a strong and a smart woman. You can do it , too. Good luck.
i don't want to sit here and tell you it's normal for everyone. but yes, it's normal for some people. i will be five years sober from percocet and vicodin on december 9th of this year, and ever since i decided to get off of the pills, i have been diagnosed with severe panic disorder. because of my addiction, i don't even take anything OTC. i am deathly afraid of pills and medicines, even vitamins, and what they may or may not do to me.
I stopped taking them last week for a few days and found my weakness unbearable. I could not even leave the house - no amount of caffeine would help. I stopped taking them on Friday night - snorted my last 40mg oxycodone and I am soooo weak and tired. How long can I expect the withdrawl symptoms to last? Will they ever go away. All I want to do is go and get more to make the weakness go away but I know I shouldn't. Any suggestions for the tiredness and weakness? I cant function.
As Krystal said lying flat can definitely help as well as keeping hydrated...drink plenty of water....and caffeine can help too...not too much tho. But until u get the blood patch lie flat and after that procedure , lie flat for a good 24 hours....take it easy. Good luck, I also had a CSF leak and know how bad it hurts, I also had to wait 5 days and that was in 1984..... luckily on day 5, my leak apparently sealed itself...could be y they wait that long since it is possible...
Dont let these other people tell you different or try to scare you bc smoking and drinking caffeine is just the same as taking them during pregnancy. Sometimes the benefits out weigh the risks. N the risks r very low. I would def try to sit down with your doctor again and tell him how u r feeling and that the Tylenol don't help at all. I have a really nice and understanding doctor. I have the same issue with scoliosis and have nerve damange along with fybromyalga.
Narcotics such as Percocet make the user itch a lot. Watch him to see if he scratches his face a lot, specifically his nose. Gives 'em away everytime. The trouble with the Narcotics is this: I was watching Loveline (a show on MTV that deals with sex issues) and on there they have an Addiction Medicine Specialist called Dr. Drew. A caller told Dr. Drew that he had discovered a new aphrodisiac that made him last for 2-3 hours in bed.
I had detoxed from a fairly high dose of percocet habit and of curse during that time I didn't really eat or exercise. So since I didn't take care of my body then I sure in the hell didn't feel like taking care of it after detoxing. All I wanted to do was feel sorry for myself----did alot of that. It was almost like I was going through the grieving process from losing my doc. Isn't that something, grieving for something that made my life a complete mess!
