Yes u can. Your breast milk is the best thing. And all it does is make your baby sleep a little more.

Breast feeding can be so painful when we start out, I breast fed my son exclusively for until he grew out of it... The pain wont last forever and it is well worth it. Hang in there <3 There are nice gel nipple pads that I loved but they are expensive from the mercy mall, also la leches league sells similar pads along with lanolin (like vasaline) to help with pain.

While I was in hospital I was taking percocet and Motrin for pain and I was sent home with oxycodone and ibuprofen. I am strictly breastfeeding. While in the hospital only my colostrum was coming out.. now my milk has come in and I'm thinking that the pain meds are in my milk bc every time my baby eats he is knocked out cold after only eating for a few minutes, nothing wakes him except a diaper change.. he wakes up to eat again and then will go right back to sleep.

dont remember where i heard that advice but it does help...if u cant drink milk..eat something and calm down u will be fine by morning....learn from this also..dont do it again.....

In other words, the milk before having something to drink is normal milk. You would not pump and dump that milk, it's fine. You pump and dump if the milk has alcohol in it, which only happens after drinking the alcohol. Not saying you should be drinking, I had the same experience as specialmom when breastfeeding -- realizing I could not be off my mark at all when taking care of an infant. But that would be the way to do it if you did have something to drink.

I was told not to pump and dump, its better to wait it out because the alcohol content in breast milk will be the same as in your blood, as youre blood alcohol levels decrease so will the amount in the breast milk and pumping and dumping will just be a waste. My dr told me that its better to just wait it out and to pump a little every now and then and use these test strips from walmart.

I am planning on breast feeding I just have not decided if I am going to pump all the time and use the milk in a bottle or do both breast and bottle(with breast milk) I work at a hotel and sometimes we work 9 10 hours at a time. But I am going to make it work.

From what I've read things like alcohol and nicotine and medicine etc all pass through breast milk.. do you'd probably want to either not smoke or formula feed. But I'd definitely do some research or ask your doctor. I was unable to breast feed my son six years ago so I'm just going off things I have read since then.

I wanna just breast feed because supplementing wth formula causes ur breast milk supply to run low and the baby might even start rejecting the bbreast. It also could really start upseting their tummy. If u want whats best, pump pump pump.

The way I switched my son from breast milk to formula was I began mixing my breast milk with formula. For example, 1oz formula to 4oz breast milk to start off. Then slowly went increasing the amount of formula each week.

I had that same problem first time around and since I thought my left was always engorged I fed her predominantly out of the left one... I nearly lost my supply in the right one and I dried up completely after 4 months (and I had to supplement after 1.5 months because I didn't produce enough)... one thing...
