Pegasys prefilled syringe

Common Questions and Answers about Pegasys prefilled syringe

pegasys

543518 tn?1245322027 I've done both the PegIntron RediPen and the Pegasys prefilled syringe (currently doing the Pegasys) The PegIntron RediPen looks like some space aged plastic gizmo whereas the Pegasys prefilled syringe looks like your average everyday "shot". With the RediPen you actually turn a dial at the bottom to adjust your dose and the syringe you follow the measurement markings on the syringe. The needle on the RediPen seems to be just slightly shorter.
Avatar m tn Depending on the pharmacy that is filling your prescription for pegasys...you can either get it in the "pegasys box" "4 prefilled syringes" as mentioned aboved.... OR the pharmacy will fill their own syringes with the medicine and ship the pre-filled syringes to you.... I have had both... and I was shocked when I received the prefilled syringes from the pharmacy --not the "pegaysis boxed" syringes..so I called the "pegasys hot line" right away...
Avatar f tn Pegasys prefilled syringes are 27-gauge 1/2 inch needles. Neupogen prefilled syringes are also 27-gauge 1/2 needles.
Avatar f tn Withdraw the needle and throw away the syringe and needle in the punctureproof container. Then use with a new prefilled syringe and prepare a new injection site. If no blood is present in the syringe, inject the medicine by gently pressing the plunger all the way down the syringe barrel, until the syringe is empty.
Avatar f tn Or are you having to fill a syringe from a vial? I ask because normally there are not too many bubbles in a prefilled syringe. With the PegIntron Redipen I just point and push. No bubbles to get rid of and no pulling back to see if you hit a vein. Plus the added benefit of a 30ga needle. I do not think you should dose early or double up. Too, if you are taking the Pegasys, it is not weight based.

Avatar m tn If pegasys prefilled, make sure the needle is pushed on firmly. From memory, I think that both suggest that the syringe stays in the target for a few more seconds after the plunger is full depressed. You might re-read the directions for the one you use.
Avatar f tn t go over this and no directions ome with the actual equipment - just drug info. I feel stupid asking this but we are both struggling with the prefilled syringes - putting the needle on and taking off the cover. I am afraid that I will lose the medicine by plunging it by accident or breaking the glass syringe. I am also quite clumsy and last time I stabbed myself on the top of my finger which also freaked me out - keystone cops around here!
Avatar m tn I am using Pegasys prefilled syringes, anyone knows what to do ? How long can the prefilled syringes stay out of refrigarator ?
577132 tn?1314266526 He read me an internal memo that states each prefilled syringe of Pegasys has 1.6ml of fluid to deliver 1.5ml of medicine. This overfill compensates for the syringe mechanism. Well, that certainly makes me feel better! It means we are getting our full amount of medicine in each shot despite what appears to be left over. The other great thing is the guy actually took the time to work it all out with me, didn't think I was a whacko-caller.
Avatar m tn So I try to pull back the plunger a little in the early shots but with my shaky hands holding the syringe with needle in my stomach and blurry eyes over the tiny pegasys syringe never give me any confident whether I am doing it right,.. so at times, I just stick and push down the plunger. But today I have noticed some blood in the syringe when I pulled it back. Does anyone have the same experience?
Avatar f tn i am a non responder, after 2 previous tratments with other interferons, now after having a liver biopsy my dr wants me to go on pegasys with copegus, he wants to prescribe the 180mcg/0.5ml shot along which is prefilled but he wants me to take some of the other prefilled shot which would make it more than the normal 180 mcg. i did not ask him exactly how much it will total cause i have doubts about this,i have never heard of this. and may just stick with the 180 once a week.
405855 tn?1217100767 5mL singe dose prefilled syringe is what you should take. A vial is a small usually glass jar/bottle with a septum (rubber plug) that allows you to withdraw a dosage by needle. It is not the same as a prefilled syringe So the nurse said the 250ug/0.5mL syringe is the right dose?
Avatar m tn I have been having fears about contracting HCV, HIV or HBV but not by the normal ways because I am not involve in risky behaviors, two days ago I went to the pharmacy here in colombia to get a tetanus shot.
Avatar m tn The vaccine was prefilled (Sanofi-Aventis) the syringe prefilled was sealed inside the box, but my fears are because the girl did not use gloves and she did not wash her hands (Her hands did not have visible blood or cuts), there were not other patients before me at least for 7 min that I was there.
Avatar m tn I must admit that last time on tx I felt the same thing as there was always medicine left over in the prefilled syringe and I always wondered if I was getting the full amount. So, I am going to mention this to my supervising nurse and get her feedback. I would say it was pretty imperative to get your full dose wouldn't you, given how lengthy and expensive this treatment is. I'm also going to ask for the vial that you draw up yourself for the rest of my tx.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I had the chills from time to time, but I was hot more. What I'm concerned about is my legs and hips hurt so bad I could barely walk. I 'm on a high dose of vicodin and it didn't seem to touch this pain. I had a small amount of chest pain on the left side, but it was mild pain and didn't last long. I took a hot bath for my legs and it helped for a little while, but the pain came back.
488198 tn?1493875092 Until sometime in 2007, I prepared for injections by taking a rubber cap off the prefilled syringe end and placing a needle over that end. Avonex then started shipping prefilled syringes with a luer lock device; I break a cap off the end and then sort of screw the needle on. I’ve uploaded a photo to my profile page displaying the old and the newer syringe side by side. The newer one has the white collar. The Avogrips also are pictured.
Avatar m tn WHAT IF THE PEGASYS IS LEFT OUT OF REFRIGRATOR WHAT IS THE DEMAGE DONE TO THE MEDICINE?
Avatar n tn The recommended dose of PEGASYS when used in combination with ribavirin for chronic hepatitis C is 180 mcg (1 mL vial, 0.5 mL prefilled syringe or 0.5 mL disposable autoinjector) once weekly. The recommended dose of COPEGUS and duration for PEGASYS/COPEGUS therapy is based on viral genotype (see Table 1). To see table 1 follow the link and go to prescribing info http://www.pegasys.com/patient/index.

Avatar f tn ve used both. I prefer Pegasys. The side effects were less and the pre-filled syringe was easier to handle and more convenient. Some people see it the other way. But, 3 out of 5 heppers would probably state the same preference. That's my take on seeing similar questions over time.
