My insurance just denied covering the Pegasys kit - saying I do not have compensated liver disease. I'm confused. I was diagnosed with HepC in 2006, I have been through all kinds of prequalification procedures to get ready for treatment, I've done everything they asked. I had a viral load of 3 million when diagnosed, last viral count was 12 million. I'm terrified of infecting my husband and step son. Anyone have any idea how best to appeal an insurance denial of treatment?

But logic leads me to believe there was something different (and possibly wrong) with the previous Pegasys kit. I wonder if somewhere down the line it was not refrigerated properly and it went bad? Who knows? But today I got my next kit (my LAST kit too!!), and I recycle 4 areas where I do the shot, and not a bruise, not even a red area. I did this shot at 6 am today, and the 4 that did bruise all bruised within an hour of the injection.

Late yesterday afternoon, around 17:30, received a call from a Genentech rep saying the alcohol pads that come in the interferon kit maybe contaminated with a bacteria. I didn't write down the name of the bacteria sooo.. the maker of the pads is Triad. They also make pads under different names, like Topco .. Did anyone else get a similar notice?

And here's another thing to watch out for!!! I knew my meds were going to be more than what I could possibly afford so I wrote, emailed, and called every drug company and co-pay assistance agency I could find. I found some help toward my Incivek and was happy. Then I found some help for the Pegasys and Ribaviron. (I thought!) The meds were delivered and they were similar, but not the same thing as what I had started on.

Make sure you emphasize that there are floating particles in the Pegasys. A light yellow color is normal but floating particles are not. I start pegasys in July. Are the side effects really bad? I know everyone is different.. Do most people lose some of their hair? I just wanted info from someone that has been on this.

Has anybody out there been treated with COPEGUS and PEGASYS? I saw a gastroentoligist today and he has ordered all sorts of blood work, but says if I start treatment this is what he would give me. I asked about the new VERTEX drug coming out next year and he said it probably wouldent be out that soon.

Need more info on medical condition to truly answer, obviously you have elevated liver functions, do you have hep c ?

Wondering if anyone has experienced black stool from the pegasys/ribavirin. Is this something to worry about? It just started since I started treatment. I havent been able to find anything that mentions this as a side effect. My girlfriend says it might be caused by bleeding in the colon. This happen to anyone else?

The first time (2008) was a trial with Roche 1626 polymerase inhibitor, Pegasys and Ribavarin. I was UND between 7 or 8 weeks, relapsed 6 weeks after being pulled from tx at 43 of 48 weeks as the trial drug was too harsh on my system. Back then they refused to give me rescue drugs so I had no choice. I have diabetes which may have contributed to my relapse, during tx my sugar was so low I stopped checking it, DUH!

Hi All, Well it looks like my docs office wants to treat me with Peg Intron (80 mg) and Ribaviron 1000mg tablets. She said the Peg Intron in her experience causes a more "predictable" decline in red blood cells than pegasys. I am only 110 lbs, so she said because it is weight based too, that is better for me. Any thoughts on Pegasys vs. Peg Intron? My stats again - female, mid 20s, type 3a, VL 950,000. I have been infected since birth (my mom was HCV). Thanks!
