my son, 22 yo, was diagnosed of having hepa B 5 months ago. His HBV DNA is 2.5X10log8, ALT 85, HbeAG positive. He had a test called HBsAG titer when firstly found of having heap B and it was reactive at 285.28 (not sure what was this). His doctor has suggested him to start treatment using tenofovir as his HBVDNA is still very high and therefore can not use Pegasys. As he is still in his early 20s, I would appreciate your opinion whether it is a good decision to start treatment at his age?
True that pegasys has no sides (when it comes to hbv itself). But it does have a lot of sides otherwise (chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression + many more). Some of them are permanent. I have the hbv flare only for 6 months but I am still hbeag+ and my VL dropped (without meds) only 1 log until now. My understanding is that interferon is very very inefficient with high VLs. It could may be OK with 4-5 log but with 8 ? I have a feeling I risk the sides for nothing.

please do not consider pregnancy, you have a superinfection of hbv+hdv and you can infect your baby with 100% cronic hbv+hdv, please consider having a baby only when you clear hbsag
another point is the drugs they can make damage to the baby so for now just follow your doctor advice and wait to see if you can clear both viruses
i am about to start interferon entecavir combo too, do you have tests for hbsag quantity and hbeag quantity?
I have been on Pegasys for 13 weeks. Took my quantification but did not see much difference. There has been only 4.8% reduction but my viral load shows improvement.

So my doc suggested to put me on combo therapy. He suggested that I take tenofovir along with pegasys for another 12 weeks.
I am not sure if this is going to be of any help.
The option that suggested by my Doctor at that time was TDF alone or TDF combo with Pegasys. After a though consideration, I finally agree to start a combo therapy of TDF + Pegasys on mid of March.

I have/had HBV and HCV so for the last 6 months I have been on Pegasys and Ribavirin for Hep C. So I guess a lot of the side effects that I have felt may have been from taking the Ribabirin pills for HCV.
I only have to take the Ribavirin pills for 1 more week and then I will be finished with HCV tx and should be cured of HCV. I will stay on Pegasys mono-therapy for at least one month after finishing HCV tx and before switching to TDF for HBV.
I have undergone through a pegasys injection + Hepsera Tab therapy for one year from May 2009 to April 2010. I have taken Entacavir 0.5 mg from May 2010 to October 2013. and i have been taking oral anti viral tenofo-B from November 2013 to April 2015 and in May 2015 Doctor prescribed me to start centaurus (Entecaver) in addition with Tenofo-B. My Medical history includes HBV DNA by PCR Quantitative is under 10 IU/ml after 5 Years. But HBeAg is still Reactive 27.
