Hello, My doctor advised me for pegasys treatment, I am just wondering if this is effective because it's too expensive here in Philippines and I have to take it once a week for a year, I am jobless right now because they unfit me to work and thinking I have to sacrifice my car because i cant afford it .i am just curious if this treatment is all worth it? Here are my lab results on July 15, 2013
HBsAG-II = 4208 – REACTIVE
ANTI HBS =2.00 – NEGATIVE
ANTI-HBC IGG=0.008 – REACTIVE
HBeAg=967.
Although there is still no complete cure for hepatitis B, there are 7 approved drugs for adults (2 for children) and many promising new drugs in development. Current treatments seem to be most effective in those who show signs of active liver disease
Not every person with chronic hepatitis B needs to be on medication. You should talk to your doctor about whether you are a good candidate for drug therapy or a clinical trial.
I have been on Pegasys for 13 weeks. Took my quantification but did not see much difference. There has been only 4.8% reduction but my viral load shows improvement.

So my doc suggested to put me on combo therapy. He suggested that I take tenofovir along with pegasys for another 12 weeks.

I found on internet that in Cuba they have a treatement for hepatitis B. I called the embassy and from there i received an e mail adress from Health Minister, minister which told me 2 times already that is only for cubans! Does anyone can help me with an information about how can I receive this vaccine (they call it vacuna)? I have been diagnosticated 8 years ago with hepatitis b, I used pegasys interferon for 48 weeks 3 years ago and my last load (viremia) on april was 2350 multiplied by 3,4.
Take an antiviral for the rest of my life or I can give Pegasys a try. 8% success rate for eAg-neg. He said for an otherwise healthy young patient like me, the side effects might not be bad. I can stop anytime I want without consequences. It will likely fail. At that time, we can take up on antivirals.
I don't know if 8% is worth a year of trouble. My main concern is the CNS effects of interferon. I have 2 very young children (a kindergartener and a 10-month-old) to take care of.

I wonder why only " HBV e antigen positive" patient? why not e antigen negative?
Hi. Basically the chances are about 50% that you will clear the virus. Depending on a number of factors in addition to genotype. See last section below.
(I'm genotype 1 on my 7th week of Peg/Copegus with compensated cirrhosis and a beginning viral load of 6.2 million. Infected by the virus as best I can tell 38 years ago).

go for pegasys,not much sides generally fever only.keep paracetamol for fever.take one three hours after first shot.fever comes for 1 day after shot.take injection on friday evening and you have sat sunday for rest. yes take thyroid test and monitor thyroid and blood parameters.you can reduce dose if too much blood parameter change.may your suggest later. take atleast 2000 iu/ml vit d daily,as vit d help interferron effect as suggested by our community members.you may test for vit d also.
