256553 tn?1258883918 Hi, My first question is do you have pcos? If you go to any website on infertility or pcos it will discuss the use of Metformin. I have been on Metformin for pcos and have been on it for one year. It has corrected my FSH & LH levels and helped me to lose 25 lbs without hardly trying. The Metformin sensitizes the cells to insulin therefore lowering the body's production of insulin, which also then reduces androgen production. Once this happens, ovulation often resumes.
Avatar n tn she prescribed me glucophage 500 mg twice a day for six months. nowadays i am on glucophage and still unsuccessful to concieve. what should i do? i really need your help.
Avatar f tn Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Ive been on glucophage and femara and ttc for 12 months with no luck. My period was due 4 days ago but instead I had a reddish/brown light discharge The day my period was due . This lasted a day or so and now have a very light creamish discharge for last 2 days. No sign of my period. I haven't done a test this month as I really don't want to be looking at another negative.
Avatar f tn I have hypothryoid disease ( all new to me ) and my doctor has perscribed glucophage to me to helped with irreglar menstral cycles.
415867 tn?1323365503 (7) IMPROVED CHANCE OF PREGNANCY. A study of 48 women with PCOS and infertility was conducted at the Baylor College of Medicine. They were first given metformin and 19 of them resumed menstruating and showed indications of ovulation. But 10 required clomiphene (a fertility drug) in addition to metformin in order to show evidence of ovulation. Twenty women of the 48 (42%) became pregnant. However, 7 of the 20 miscarried.(8) REDUCED RISK OF MISCARRIAGE.
Avatar f tn Hi I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18, but I've had the condition for years before that. My PCOS was coupled with Insulin Resistance, so I've basically lived with the 'tyre' of fat around my abdomen along with generally being overweight for most of my life. I've been on treatment (Glucophage for IR and birth control pills for PCOS) going on six years now. I've lost about 30kg in that time and still losing.
1408770 tn?1283213203 She is taking Glucophage 850 three times a day and another tablet Diane 21 to regulate her menstrual cycle. She is over weight and she cant help to reduce it. She tries sometimes to walk and exercise but till now she is not getting any results. Her weight is 82 kgs. She is 28 years old and no she doesn't have diabetes right now but her doc (endocrinologist) said that those are pre-diabetic symptoms.
1546050 tn?1293688410 She then decided that I must be insulin resistant and put me on Glucophage 1 in the evening without even doing any tests or telling me anything about an eating plan etc. I am now following a low GI eating plan I got on the internet. My question is - should I be on Glucophage if I was not properly tested for insulin resistance and if my sugar test came out within normal range?
20220090 tn?1492761471 Hi I have Pcos but still had a regular cycle and conceived naturally with my son. I had my last last cycle 20 Feb so now more than a month late. The Gynecologist increased my glucophage to 850mg 1 X a day. My abdominal area gets pain that comes and goes. Also pain in both ovaries from time to time and my stomach feels hard. I can only see my Doctor on Wednesday for ultrasound. Did 2 X pregnancy test but negative. Did anyone experience similar symptoms?
Avatar n tn Hi, I was jus reading through many forums on Ovulex and came across this one. Did anyone have Pcos, under 25 and had success with Ovulex? I alos wanna know if ur younger does it work faster.
Avatar n tn am releaved.
Avatar n tn My aunt had type 1, which she developed as a teen and was insulin dependent her entire life, and she also had PCOS. She died at age 58 from heart disease. I too have PCOS, but I have type 2 diabetes. After years of dealing with low blood sugar and many other debilitating symptoms, including fatigue and severe PMS, I became diabetic overnight. I'm sorry to say that there is no cure for PCOS. It can only be treated.
Avatar m tn I was just diagnosed with PCOS a month and a half ago. There is a strong history of diabetes in my family and I have had regular bloodwork done to ensure I dont have it. Within the last two years I have gained about 40lbs, even tho my eating hasn't changed. Since being diagnosed I have started taking a half tablet of phentermine to control my appetite in an effort to lose weight. I also started taking birth control again.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS too. I was diagnosed with it about 8 years ago. In dealing with my PCOS I've found that there is nothing predictable about it. At the heart of the matter, PCOS is an endocrine disorder, which basically means it messes with your hormones big time. It actually goes a LOT deeper than that and is something which I cannot fully explain because I just don't fully understand it. Nor do any of the experts so how can we?
1897345 tn?1374265855 I have pcos and i'm TTC but my period keeps stopping and i have to go to the dr to get them regulated soo does anyone know if there is a pill out there that started my period but doesn't stop me from getting pregnant
Avatar n tn If you were my patient, I would encourage you to continue BOTH glucophage and Diane 35. It is possible that if you could lose weight and maintain weight loss that your cycles would resume spontaneously. It is also possible that they wouldn't. Diane will help with hair growth and acne as well as regulate your cycles. If you don't have at least 4 periods per year, (approx every 3 months) you will be at risk for cancer of the endometrium (uterine lining).
623922 tn?1223406991 With PCOS you can usually actually feel yourself ovulating, both me and a workmate both felt it, it was like minor tweaking and maybe small amounts of cramping. I could time when I was going to get my period by that. My blood sugars are pretty high, so I'm trying to get onto Glucophage, in hopes it helps my pcos and my blood sugars. If I knew about my diagnosis earlier, I could have gotten pregnant! I've also gained around 40lbs and I don't know why, my stomach is stapled!
Avatar f tn I had a urine test done which showed a negative pregnancy but my blood work showed hcg levels to be 25 which was very low and thats the reason y it dint show up on urine test.My OB/GYN did an ultrasound and said its a chemical pregnancy and that resulted in a miscarriage. For people with PCOS like us, its hard to predict anything without proper tests. So its better u confirm with a blood work and an ultrasound.
Avatar m tn With all due respect Msniki412, Metformin"glucophage" is not always the answer and nor does it always help. The question is why did an otherwise healthy women get pcos? and why if she already eats healthy and exercizes normally should she need a medication like glucophage for border line insuline resistance/insuline resistance aka diabetes? why would a healthy woman who like i said before eats well, excersizes routinely be subject to pcos in the first place?
Avatar n tn My doctor has done the ssame I have PCOS and that is a big cause of it you may want to ask about a sonohystogram to see if you have PCOS.
Avatar f tn Hi..I was diagnosed with pcos and my insulin and prolactin levels are 30.9 and 60 respectively.my doctor put me on glucophage and proloactin for these and I got my periods on may 26 .i was expecting my periods then in June and until now no sign of periods. I have mild thigh pain and heaviness in my stomach and light stomach pain..is it possible that I am pregnant..My doctor told me that if I don't get my periods until 12th , she will go for a pregnancy test.
Avatar f tn What are the odds of getting pregnant when one suffers from pcos??? and how will you know when is the right time to have sex, since i dont have regular periods??? plz plz help somebody?????
1266083 tn?1358564062 Okay, here's the deal. I started having the "montly visit" when I was 11. For 2 years, it was irregular and when I was 13, it just STOPPED all together. I had no period for about 3 years when a doctor FINALLY diagnosed me with PCOS at the age of 16, and did a "vaginal probe" (I hate the sound of that word, haha) and found "hundreds of little cysts" on my ovaries. Well, I was then put on Yasmin and Glucophage.
Avatar n tn I have a 31 day cycle and i believe that i am once again pregnant, as i have PCOS and have been miscarriaging. However, i have started back with the glucophage treatment and i believe that is has made me more fertile at this stage. My concern is, however, that i get very little breast tenderness, that only last 1 day before my period but i have had it for the past 7 days continously; burning and weird sensations on the nipples.
Avatar f tn After two years of infertility and weight gain I was diagnosed with Insulin resistance and told to do diet and exercise. I cont.
