358304 tn?1409709492 I guess I should have done a little more research on BRAIN ZAPS and eye ball sensations too... this guy on yahoo answers nailed it.... Heres what he said on yahoo answers on "what do brain zaps feel like?" "I had brain zaps for 6 months after stopping effexor (antidepressent). Drove me mad - was almost painful at times cause the more i moved my "eyeballs" - looking around - the worse the brain zaps. Sometimes I still get them when I am really worn out.
Avatar f tn My husband has had mental health problems all his life - suffers from manic depression/bipolar. He has tried many different drugs. Four months ago he started on Paxil - 10mg. There were no side effects to speak of and we credit Paxil for significantly reducing his manic episodes. However. for the past 3 weeks, he has been seized with the most debilitating anxiety. He has never suffered from anxiety before. His shrink upped the Paxil to 20mg and gave him a low dose of xanax (0.25mg and later 0.
Avatar f tn Do a search for 'Paxil brain zaps' on Yahoo or Google. It's become pretty well documented recently but some doctors don't seem to be aware of it for some reason... http://****.org ...has a fairly standard description. Just keep in mind people overwhelmingly share negative information on antidepressants on the internet than positive experiences (people like to share negative experiences more it seems).

17990279 tn?1462122394 my doctor recently perscribed me paxil for my mental health and well being. He told me that if I start to have the side effect of weight gain, that I could include welbutrin, which would counteract that side effect. Is that possible??? And if so, how would that work????
Avatar f tn t start till June I can go to class next quarter Yahoo. Even if USC changes my mind about who does it I can still push it off till summer. I can't stay home I just can't.
Avatar f tn I walked to the library without stopping and back (with a bathroom break and grabbed a couple of books inbetween) with the walker. I wasn't able to do it without stopping a lot 2 weeks ago. Yahoo. Oh and I started PT exercises on Thursday. It went well. I'm still working on getting off the walker.

Avatar f tn Paxil is a med that should be stopped very slowly, even if you are starting a new med. It could take several weeks for the Wellbutrin to be working fully, and in the meantime, it does sound like you are having withdrawal symptoms from the Paxil. At this point, I don't think your doctor would have you go back on the Paxil since it has been almost a week off it, but I would give them a call just in case. Paxil can be nasty to come off of.
563594 tn?1309583132 hi guys. okay, most of you already know that I was addicted to norco(10mgvicodin) for about 4 years. Now I've gone to see my PCP and he has now give me 2mg of xanax a day and 10mg of lexapro. He also wants to send me to see a mental health specialist, BIG problem with that is, I don't have mental health coverage. My biggest question is, to those of you that have been clean..for even say a couple months..do you believe this is necessary?!
Avatar m tn once or twice a year. Could this be caused by the Paxil.. Am I heading to dementia ? Or is it because I am off paxil? I talked with my doctor and he asked if I would consider going back on paxil or trying another drug.
1052703 tn?1266279337 I recently have had an unbearable increase in my anxiety. I went to the doc and he prescribe Paxil and Buspar. 20 mg Paxil once a day and Bupsar 3x's a day @ 10 mg each. I stopped taking the Paxil after a week because I was afraid of Serotonin Syndrome and what I read about Paxil and withdrawl. My anxiety has improved but I am not were I want to be.
1297968 tn?1272639250 Hello. Does anyone in this group take Paxil and crave alcohol? I do and never did before....I told my Dr. and he said Paxil doesn't cause alcohol cravings. He also wants to keep me on Paxil..I just want off it..
Avatar f tn Hello, I just turned 19 last week and I struggled with strong negative thoughts for years. Decided to go to a psychiatrist less than a year ago in January after so many existential crisis, depression and despersonalization. The psychiatrist prescribed me Agomelatine, I took it for three months but it was too expensive and I couldn't even find it in my country. So he changed it to Paxil and it literally ruined me. At first it was okay but then I started feeling worse. It started my anxiety.
Avatar f tn Cognitive behavioural therapy for health anxiety is a very specific intervention and process aimed to work with health anxiety. I would really suggest looking in to that.
Avatar m tn I've been on Paxil since I was 12 years old (20 mgs). Since then, I've tried to come off of Paxil more times than I can count, and each time the withdrawal symptoms have been too much, so I always end up failing. The lowest dose I've ever reached is 5 mgs, but the withdrawal symptoms were unbearable so I went back up to 10 mgs and eventually back to 15 mgs. I am 23 now and the fact that I take Paxil is closing off some important opportunities for me. I'm on 12.
Avatar m tn or can i combine the Paxil with 1 or more of these supplemtns at the same time? if so, how should i do that? could i take Paxil 1 day, then supplements the next day (w/o Paxil), etc.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Paxil for PTSD for several years. It has also markedly helped with my fibromyalgia , irritable bowel syndrome, and urinary incontinence.. When I first started taking it, it caused me to lose 27 pounds. I have heard from doctors that after a while the Paxil can "turn on you" and start causing the same symptoms it was alleviating, such as weight gain, anxiety, etc., as well as new symptoms.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me from Paxil to Wellbutrin due to the decreased sex drive of Paxil. Otherwise Paxil was working well for me. Anyway, my issue is that it was a direct switch, no weaning off of Paxil and I think I'm having the withdrawal. I thought the Wellbutrin would just sort of take over, but I don't think that is the case. I didn't think to ask my doc, and the soonest I can get back to see him is Monday. It's been 7 days w/o Paxil and 6 with Wellbutrin.
Avatar m tn I use mgh2467 for yahoo if you have the yahoo pager and yahoo has chatrooms called friends of bill for aa and na chat. It is the category of health and wellness.
Avatar n tn t have enough experience or time to manage this kind of thing. Any doc who tells you to just stop taking Paxil is one to avoid for your mental health care -- the news about the difficulty in stopping these drugs, and especially Paxil, is so old now anyone who doesn't know to slowly taper and monitor should be avoided.
Avatar m tn I am a 28/male. Slightly overweight but no other health conditions except AS (type of genetic arthritis). I had been off anxiety/depression medicine for nearly 2 years when i started having dizziness. I went to doctor and they tried some allergy meds (didnt stop it), then tested me for inner ear problems and vertigo (both of which came back no problem). I asked if maybe I could be having anxiety issues and he put me on paxil. The dizziness stopped.
Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil 20 mg now for 2 1/2 months. I fell better but not all the way. I haven't had a full blown panic attack since taking 20 mg but I still have the constant lower grade anxiety. My anxiety is all related to my health. I am convinced I have some horrible disease. I go from thinking I have AIDS to a brain tumor to MS to Parkinson's. It never ends. Every little symptom in my body leads me to a new self-diagnosis of a deadly disease.
