Paxil withdrawal symptoms cold turkey

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil withdrawal symptoms cold turkey

paxil

Avatar n tn The question for the poster is, has this been continuous from when you stopped the Paxil (and why, after all this time and litigation would anyone cold turkey off Paxil?). If so, then yes, you're still in withdrawal. You, too, should then research Protracted Withdrawal Syndrome and then ask yourself why at this late date in the very tragic Paxil story you went off it cold turkey. Even tapering off this drug can cause problems.
Avatar n tn I was on 40 mg of Paxil for 4 years and couldn't take the severe exhaustion , "numbness if feeling" or fog so I stopped 6 days ago , cold turkey. How long will the symptoms last and what can I do to relieve them (without a new antidepressant).
Avatar n tn I had about 150 withdrawal symptoms. It was so bad that I felt that NO one can come off cold turkey after being on 120mg, not without switching to another SSRI and adding an anti anxiety med. I'm a strong person and can do almost anything but living in hell 24/7 is about a 1/1000000000000 chance of success. I actually came off Tramadol cold turkey with no substitutes and no withdrawals. Paxil is poison.
983155 tn?1248700406 My cold turkey withdrawal lasted 12 months off Zoloft. You should get back on Paxil and slowly wean off. Anybody coming here telling me it wasn't withdrawal and was reemerging depression can try cold turkeying after 6 yrs use and see how they feel about their perfect pills.
983155 tn?1248700406 What are you treating? If it's anxiety, wellbutrin will just cause more. If it's just depression, wellbutrin can be helpful, but not right after stopping Paxil. You should never stop Paxil cold turkey. You're in Paxil withdrawal and, because you started another drug at the same time that has a completely different mechanism of action, you have the side effects of starting another drug that may not even be an appropriate substitute for Paxil.
Avatar m tn I just signed up to this forum. I have never done anything like this before. But, I really need help. The irony is I am a master's level therapist, and have been for many years. I believe I may be suffering so I can relate and better help my clients. I am in practice with a psychiatrist, but have not told her of this. I guess I am embarrassed. Anyhow, approx. 3 years ago a physician friend prescribed PAXIL for my mild OCD symptoms, my own diagnoses.
Avatar n tn s dangerous to stop cold turkey. Paxil is an awful drug to get off of, the worst I have known.
Avatar f tn Fentanyl is an opioid-agonist and therefore you WILL experience withdrawal problems if you go cold turkey with this one. Are you trying to quit both meds at the same time or just Paxil?(sorry, I didn't get it). There might be some subtle interaction between the two drugs that somehow makes it more difficult to quit Paxil this time. Listen to Paxiled. Taper.
Avatar n tn I was on paxil for 6 years. I stopped cold turkey. It took about a month for the withdrawls to completly go away. But they got better everyday after about a week.
Avatar f tn I have quit Paxil cold-turkey 7 days ago. I read in a forum about using Allegra (an allergy med) to help the side effects. I have found that the Allegra really helps with the Zaps that occur. My problem is I don't want to take one in the afternoon, evening because they will keep me awake all night! Anybody got any night time ideas. I will not take another Paxil - I will put up with whatever licks I have to take. Any idea how long withdrawl symptoms will pop up. Do I have them all now?
Avatar f tn I think Paxil is a similar drug if not the same as seroxat. I had same Zapps when I went off it ten years ago. So bad that I had to weane myself off it. Half a tablet a day then half every second day until eventually none.
Avatar n tn t start to bother me until one day without the caffiene. Is it a cooincidence? Are my symptoms from the caffiene withdrawal, Paxil CR withdrawal, or both? I was taking 37 mg daily. I have an appointment tomorrow with my OBGYN, I am affraid to tell my Dr. that I quit cold turkey against his advice, but I don't like how I feel. What should I do?
1295419 tn?1276822872 About 5 months after being on Prozac I found out it was causing me some issues so I stopped it cold turkey. I was taking 30 mg/day. This was about 6 weeks ago. I have noticed that the last month or so every single time I wake up in the middle of the night or in the morning my hands are both tingling and "asleep". They go back to normal after a minute or so. I have also been having palpitations about once every day (just 1 quick palp.
Avatar f tn I went cold turkey off Cymbalt when I found out that I was pregnant. I suffered from multiple withdrawal symptoms...brain zaps, bouts of dizziness, the shakes, knees giving out, feeling of lead feet, ect. It took me a little over two months for them to dissipate.
Avatar m tn m not sure if this is a good idea as I herd you should never go cold turkey even on low dose. For Now I have broken the 10mg of paxil in half and been taking 5MG for the last 3 days (no withdrawals yet) and I plan to continue to take 5mg for another 4 days and then next week i'll take 2.5 mg for 7 days and then go off it completely. Is this a good idea?
Avatar n tn I definately want to come off of it-but i cant do it cold turkey being that the withdrawal symptoms are pretty bad. If, in the past, i missed a dose-I would begin feeling very dizzy and nauseaus. Im sure this affect or worse wouldnt be good for the baby either. If I ween myself off slowly-im still taking Paxil in my system during the first trimester. what do I do?
Avatar n tn Realizing going off my birth control was not an option, I desided to stop taking the Paxil (cold turkey) about 5 days ago to see if that was contributing to my weight gain. I spend a lot of time throughout the day on my computer for work and began to realize my vision was getting a little foggy. Thinking I had been looking at the screen for to long, I desided to take my kids outside to play.
Avatar f tn I am only on 20mg (the starting dose) and would like to switch back to cipralex. Should I do it cold turkey over night? Or should I do a gradual decrease of the Paxil while increasing the Cipralex? Thanks!!
Avatar f tn I have been through withdrawal from another antidepressant (not Paxil, but in the same class of drugs) and so has my mother. Yes, it can take years, in some cases -- especially if you were on the Paxil for years before starting the taper. One rule of thumb is that the withdrawal will take approximately one month for every year that you were on an antidepressant. But everyone is an individual. The process takes as long as it takes for you, and however long it takes is okay.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been on Paxil for about 4 years now and I recent just quit taking 30mg CR (once daily) of Paxil cold turkey. I didn't really mean to quit doing it, but it has been almost 7 days now, so I figure why not get off this stuff. I really am feeling lousy. I haven't really had any bad mood swings. I have been sleeping for almost 12 hours a day, with crazy nightmares and just feeling very bad about everything lately. I've been working out more, which helps.
704329 tn?1518523098 It's both. Benzos are very dangerous to quit cold turkey; they could trigger seizures. Paxil is one of the most difficult of the antidepressants to quit, along with Effexor. Withdrawal can be intense. If you truly believe you don't need them, you need to taper off them. I would also look for a different psychiatrist to do this with. No way should you have been on three benzos at one time, and Paxil isn't used to help a person sleep. In fact, neither are benzos.
1402011 tn?1291411782 Here is my question. At first it worked well, when I went off of it cold turkey in February I had an episode of Tachycardia after lifting weights at the gym, and being a health Panic sufferer had to go back on because I thought everything was wrong with my heart, and obsessively worried for the next 10 months. Now I am not sure if I have Tolerance withdrawal, but I seem to be anxious everyday, all day, and have very little ability to cope with new stresses without getting panicky.
Avatar f tn Hello, I just turned 19 last week and I struggled with strong negative thoughts for years. Decided to go to a psychiatrist less than a year ago in January after so many existential crisis, depression and despersonalization. The psychiatrist prescribed me Agomelatine, I took it for three months but it was too expensive and I couldn't even find it in my country. So he changed it to Paxil and it literally ruined me. At first it was okay but then I started feeling worse. It started my anxiety.
Avatar n tn m in a good place mentally and surrounded by good friends, but attempts to come off cold turkey have begun to get a little scary by day three. I begin to get these premonitions of shakey hands, delirium, etc. Does anyone have any advice? Maybe a sensible medium-term withdrawl plan?
Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil for 2 years and found the results to be great however I am currently unemployed and went off the Paxil cold turkey becaus of the financial difficulty. I am going through "Paxil Withdrawals" just like everyone on here has said. I have the vertigo, the electric zaps, the headaches and the emotional ups and downs. I feel like I am not even in my own body sometimes. The problem I am having is with my boyfriend.
