Common Questions and Answers about Paxil warnings

paxil

Avatar n tn Now my doctor has prescribed 10 mg. of Paxil but I am hesitant to take it since drug interaction warnings and my pharmacist say it could lower my blood pressure too much. I do not want to return to the emergency room or experience the bad side effects again. Any advice? Is it true that SSRIs and beta blockers are not a wise combination? Is there an SSRI that works well with metoprolol tartrate? I do not have a history of high blood pressure, but I do have a history of anxiety.
1722607 tn?1335747858 And to answer the actual question, paxil has no liver warnings other than people with liver disease might absorb it a little more, so it suggest to start off with a lower dose. http://us.gsk.com/products/assets/us_paxilcr.
Avatar n tn You're talking about Tamoxifen and Paxil used at the same time, yes? It has been proven that certain SSRI's which is what Paxil is do stop the benefits of tamoxifen. From Pharmacist's Letter's: July 2009, vol 25, no. 7 "You'll see new warnings not to combine tamoxifen with certain SSRIs..paroxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline. .... Women have a higher risk of breast cancer recurrence if they take tamoxifen along with paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline...
1330166 tn?1379548346 I was just prescribed to 20mg Paxil from my doctor. I have read really nothing but bad stuff about it, like gaining weight, being in a " alone state of mind "? Is this drug going to help me? the worst of my problems is that I have recurring thoughts constantly that won't go away. Is there a better medication to just help strictly that alone? Thanks for your time.
Avatar n tn This is my only attempt at quitting and I do not wish to fail. I am a recovering alcoholic/addict, I have read about bupropian and the warnings about people who had a history with alcoholism. If there is anyone with any experience or advice it would be greatly appreciated.
409474 tn?1202472085 ve only as you said been taking the Paxil for 2 days so far. So its really hard to guess if paxil will help you or not. Out of curiousity, did your family doctor prescribe this medication or did a psychologist so there is talk therapy involved as well as careful monitoring of how your reacting to the medicine? If your having a hard time concentrating and such thats not unsual,, and hopefully it will get better...
Avatar n tn I was put on Paxil roughly 1 1/2 months ago. The first few weeks, I felt nothing as it was entering my system. However, in the last few weeks I have been displaying very bizzar behavior. My first episode, I was out with friends for a few drinks and woke up infront of my house with the car running and my neighbors pulling me out of the car and dragging me into the house. My second episode I was out with friends for drinks and just remember drinking and drinking and drinking.
874521 tn?1424116797 So I read these articles and it seems that Merk was sued in 2010. I have not read everything on this, but wouldn't you think major warnings would have come out about this 3 years ago. I wonder if removing the chip is an option Such a shame. This was the "Holy Grail" for identification. Seems the more we take care of our kits (chips, vaccinations, meds) the more harm can be done.
1225178 tn?1318980604 My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me and when I was reading the patient info it had warnings about being taken with liver disease and not clearing the body like it should. Has anybody seen that with other ADs?
10175413 tn?1427170251 Here is what they say about Harvoni. (Ledipasvir/sofosbuvir) A fatal cardiac arrest was reported in a patient receiving a sofosbuvir-containing regimen (ledipasvir/sofosbuvir). Bradycardia has generally occurred within hours to days, but cases have been observed up to 2 weeks after initiating HCV treatment.
Avatar f tn I got two warnings over the same post, and it's ridiculous because I was the one who kept reporting my own post just because I wanted it deleted..
1438638 tn?1304946457 t see having gone thru that, just to get put on a weight-gainer medication. It happened once already with Paxil and the gain was devestating. The other side effects are scary too so I'm worried about them too...especially the weakened immune system part. Any of your experiences with it would be helpful. Thanks.
Avatar f tn m in a never never land where nobody knows what to do to get me back to those good old days where all I had was anxiety attacks. But my warnings go beyond that. Paxil does have a lot of side effects -- that's what drove me to try stopping it -- and it does seem to be more difficult to quit than any of the other antidepressants other than Effexor.
Avatar f tn Anti-depressants such as Celexa, Cymbalta, Elavil, Effexor, Lexapro, Paxil, Prozac, Seroquel and Zoloft have black box warnings because they can increase the risk of suicidal behavior. Bupropion, also known as Wellbutrin (as an anti-depressant) and Zyban (as a smoke cessation aide) has a black box warning for suicidal tendencies and suicide completion.
Avatar f tn s a different story. In the present day, as you found, there is no shortage of info and warnings about Paxil. Does that excuse your doctor from not educating you? No, but it also doesn't excuse you from not doing your homework, and I absolutely positively don't say that in a mean or negative way. It's very very early on...hopefully you will fully recover, and like Paxiled said, you may want to consider resuming the Paxil and doing a very slow and deliberate taper.
Avatar f tn what is the proper way to taper back to paxil? 3. How unsafe is paxil with pregnancy and what other options do I have? HELP! I feel like I am losing my mind!!!!
Avatar f tn could be the cause of the sinus tachycardia so he recently switched me from Paxil to Lexapro. So the Paxil is now out of my system but I am still feeling the rapid heart beat. I know it's not dangerous since that is what the cardiologists have told me but I'm experiencing extreme anticipatory anxiety as to when my heart will speed up again and that something is going to happen to me, such as fainting or dying.
Avatar n tn Can I quit the paxil and take the klonopin 3 x a day as prescribed and safely get off Paxil. I am getting fat!
467977 tn?1262714747 I take Paxil and buspar on a daily basis. I used to only take the paxil, but I still had terrible anxiety in the morning. My doctor then added the buspar 2x a day. It helped me almost immediately. It took away that horrible nausea and anxiety by 90 % in the morning. Some people say that buspar isn't effective, but it has been very effective for me. I take Klonopin only on an as needed basis. (Which is very rarely). Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Hi I have been on paxil for nine years.. I am currently 25 and feel like the paxil isnt working for me.. I also had tried stopping paxil for four months cold turkey.. it was HORRIBLE.... so i went back on 10 mgs.. now ive been on 10 mg for 3 years.. I just switched to zoloft over night.. as a doctor reccomended.. I am worried I will have paxil withdrawls symptons.. I really hope I dont.. I am taking 50 mg of zoloft.. i have felt ok since and its been four days... hopefully it will be fine..
Avatar n tn s a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
Avatar m tn I am 3 weeks back on Paxil after a failed attempt to switch medications to Lexapro. I have read a lot that Paxil loses its effectiveness after the first time. I (stupidly) have started, stopped & restarted Paxil on several different occasions and it always has seemed to work. I was on paxil 20mg originally then stopped cold turkey and went back on at Paxil CR 12.5. Upped dose over time to Paxil CR 25mg.
Avatar m tn I would like information regarding the differences between Paxil and Prozac. I've used Paxil in the past, and the truth is that it is very hard to stop taking it. Right now I'm taking only 10mg (paxil) but I don't feel that is working anymore and have been thinking about switching to Prozac.
