My question is can I do this ,I have anyurisms and I have MS
Paxil I used to take were 20 mg 2x a day
STOPPED PAXIL AND WENT ON PRISTIQ 11 MONTHS AGO now I CANNOT AFFORD THEM so i need to go back on paxil any suggestions on if I can quit the pristiq cold turkey and go back on paxil without hurting my anyurisms
oh forgot to mention I had 1 anyurism repaired in 2009 and have 3 more
Wellbutrin is an energizing antidepressant that can increase anxiety and actually cause panic attacks in some people. Pristiq is approved for depression, but may also help with panic disorder and anxiety.
Both Pristiq and wellbutrin are stimulating antidepressants, and aren't usually first choices if anxiety is the main problem. If depression is the main problem, that's a whole different story. I'd try a different ssri, because if it's the serotonin reuptake inhibition itself that's causing the problem, Pristiq does that as well, but it also acts on norepinephrine, a stimulating neurotransmitter.
t really doing much for me so my doctor got to to cut down and go on to pristiq, while I was cutting down the paxil my partner and I decided to TTC, I ask the doctor if I should still start pristiq but she told me not to as Pristiq is harmful during pregnancy. However it may be more harmful for you to stop taking it, especially if it will mess with your head whether your taking it for anxiety or depression.

I have general anxiety with a tendency towards social anxiety. I used to have panic attacks but haven't had one in a couple years. I also suffer with depression. What drug has helped you? I am now taking Klonopin for the anxiety and Prozac for depression. I would like to cut the Klonopin or at least cut down (now taking 1 mg/day). The Prozac isn't helping my depression at all and I have given it months to work.
I am taking 50mg pristiq for generalized anxiety disorder brought on by my graves disease. I have notice i am becoming more combative with friends and family. I am bothered by the slightlest things and I am getting aggressive? is this due to the medication?
OH by the way, when I started Paxil, I had blurred vision but did not on Pristiq, the only side effects were the dry mouth and now insomnia (which totally *****) but I hope goes away.

i was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and severe depression but the dr. wasnt 100% sure if i was or was not bi polar one...so she prescribed me 50 mg pristiq and 25 mg lamictal. she told me if i was in fact bi polar that the pristiq would make me go totally manic.
just 3 days in and i am totally manic. totally completely it is scary. unless i am doing something at all times i am losing it.
i take clonazepam which is the only thing that works, but every couple of years i hit a wall and need to up the antidepressant. been on zoloft, paxil, celexa,effexor, lyrica, cipralex(lexapro), maoi's, etc..wondering if pristiq works, or maybe cymbalta? only snri i was on was effexor, which didn't do much but also had a brutal psych.
any info would be helpful.

recently stopped taking ProzaC BECAUSE IT SEEMED TO LOOSE ITS EFFICACY..{oops} I'm a psych RN and noticed a lot of Pristiq being ordered. I thought I'd give it a go. It's been about 3 and1/2 wks. The regular G.I. probs have gone away. The bizaare side effect I now have is like a psychotic break. I cant talk because I cannot remember what I have said sentence to sentence. I become aware that I am rambling to the poor other person. I dont even remember what i have just said.
When I first started medication Paxil Cr was perfect for me! I no longer had any anxiety! i took it for about a year and then got off it because one side effect was increased appetite and I gained like 20+ pounds. So I then went to Effexor, Lexapro, Remron, and I am now on Pristiq. SO far the prestiq has helped my depression. I got severely depressed a few months back because I was not doing anything. I would just lay in my room all day because of the fear of my panic attacks.
Also, the only one SSRI who work in the past for my panic disorder is the Paxil... but hte Paxil do nothing for the social anxiety, like all the antidepressant meds I try... anyway, the main problem is that I try to be back on The Paxil at least 10 times in 2010 and wasn't able to tolerate more than 1 mg at the time... I had increase anxiety to the point that I had to go to the ER...
So I don't know what do to?
Effexor and Pristiq are not the dance thing. Sane family. Venlafaxine vs desvenlafaxine. Pristiq had added benefit of norepinehprine uptake inhibitor or something. Weird that everyone is getting prescribed 50mg when the added benefits dont kick in until 100-150mg. Before swapping drug altogether (depending on non mental side effects) try upping dose first maybe.
helped more and has had less side effects than anyother I have been on. I have also tried zoloft, prozax, paxil, and wellbutrin xr. Anyways, I was just wondering what expeirences anyone else has had on abilify? I know it effects everyone different but.....
She gave me some samples of Pristiq and told me to immediately start taking half of one a day and to quit the bupropion all together. Its been a month now, i've gained almost 10 pounds back which I'm extremely happy about! But those sexual side effects are back once again....Mentioned it to my doc, and now she wants me to still continue on half a Pristiq a day, but add on half of my bupropion XLs to it as well.... I am afraid I will begin to lost weight on it.
I, personally, like Effexor. After being on Effexor XR for about 7-8 years, my psychiatrist switched me to Pristiq (which is Effexor Lite) last year because it was cheaper for me to get than the Effexor was. I can tell you this, it is the best medication for me. I'd been on Prozac, Paxil, Celexa, Zoloft, and some old-school MAOI's. But nothing, nothing, worked as well as the Effexor for my anxiety disorder.
Ok so i went to the Dr for anxiety and he put me on Effexor and i have had horrible side effects for 3 days... i called him and he said he would put me on pristiq, well i looked online and they are pretty much the same med, Why would he put me on the same med? I am really confused and upset about this. This anxiety has taken over my life to the point i don't drive or go anywhere alone, I need some help or suggestions please???
I tried zolft it was to stimulating gave me horrible panic attacks. Was on paxil for almost ten years it stopped working like it use to. I am so scared to try another med but i am desperate. Please help any suggestions??
