I also take Paxil for a sleep disorder (depression-related insomnia) and have for 11+ years. It works wonderously, but I gained 30+ lbs when I started the medication and have tried for years to lose it, unsuccessfully. I will lose some weight - and believe me, it takes an enormous amount of exercise and effort - but inevitably gain it back because Paxil makes my appetite so strong.
However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
I was recently on paxil for anxiety until I realized all of the side effects that I was getting including gaining weight. I talked to my doctor and he said I could wean myself off. I was taking 20 mg. He said 10 mg for 2 weeks and then 5mg for 2 weeks, after start wellbutrin. However, I didn't make it that far. Just by one week of going Down to 10 mg I was vomiting, running to the bathroom. Nervousness, dizzy, brain zap and a fuzzy feeling in my head, sweating, VERY emotional.
Its been 1 week that ive been taking Paxil for my anxiety attacks, I took my 7th one before I went to bed tonight. The past 4 nights i've been waking up with that sensation that I cant breathe and lye there awake for hours. Its like this all day, its more severe when I wake up, before I go to bed and during the night when I wake up to this like right now. During the day even when im able to relax a little more then usual I have chest pains constantly, mostly on the left mid side.
My daughter is currently taking a combination of depakote, lamictal, and abilify for a mood disorder. However, her doctor feels the overwhelming problem with her is an anxiety disorder that is not being addressed by the current meds.
The doctor wants to ween her off the lamictal completely and start her on klonopin wafers. I am concerned about the "drowsiness" side effects. Do these eventually go away?
Hello, my doctor put me on Remeron(generic) about a month and 1/2 ago to help with the withdrawl symptoma of the Paxil that I was getting off of. The Remeron (15mg) did a great job at that.... kept my anxiety down and let me sleep but hasn't really helped with my obssesive racing thoughts/worry .
I've now been on Prozac (worked wonders for me 15yrs ago) for about 12 days and still on the Remeron. Two nights ago I began to tapper off of the Remeron. I went down to 7.
And also, I want to know the effects of mixing Paxil, Lithium and Adderall together. I was on those drugs in my teens and it seems like now my memory is really bad. Does anyone know if there are any long term effects on your memory from any of these drugs or mixing these drugs? Any help would be appreciated.
I was on cipralex (lexapro in the US) for almost 3 years and initially experienced some dry mouth, but no extreme side effects at all. It worked amazingly for me. I started on 10mg and then doubled to 20mg after 1 year. I recently switched to Paxil about 1 month ago, and have really disliked the way it makes me feel. My anxiety has been much worse and the side effects are just awful. It has been so much worse than cipralex.
I have been ready more bad than good about the side effects; particularly the weight gain and the withdrawal symptoms. I will stop taking this medicine ASAP if I can a couple of lbs. Does anyone have any positive things to say about Paxil or any other anti-depressant. The doctor told me I may gain 1 lb in a yr. I have read that people that were NEVER overweight have gained 20+ lbs...
I take paxil now for about 14 years. I know that there are many side effects when you start it, but I wouldn't know it because I was such in a bad state at the time that I was sick all the time anyway.
Some meds work better than others depending on the individual. It takes about a month for the medication to really get into your system and help. But, I would check with your doctor anyway about your side effects.

Yes, do discuss the Paxil w/ your Doctor.
Also, plz discuss w/ your Doc how to get off the Paxil slowly. It could take a while to get off the Paxil. Aks your Doc what side-effects you might experience on Paxil, so that you're prepared to handle that.
Example: when they switched me from Zoloft to Celexa my Doc did it slowly.

After 2 weeks I started getting severe insomnia for the last three days now. Has nay one experienced this situation? Is this going to be a permanent side effect?

s very common. But you seem to be cycling through side effects pretty quickly. I was on Paxil for many years, and while I wouldn't recommend it, it didn't cause this for me but it did make me more aggressive and angry. But it took a long time before I realized it was the drug doing this to me, though others around me noticed much sooner.
