Paxil side effects long term

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil side effects long term

paxil

Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil for over 10 years and have been thinking about getting off of it. What are the side effects of being on Paxil for such a long time? After reading some of the side effects of trying to get off Paxil, I am wondering if I should continue to take it for the rest of my life. Has anyone out there been on Paxil for as long as I have?
Avatar m tn Not doing well on an alternative drug(name??) Paxil sure worked for me without many side effects. I am 67 and my memory scares me ...forgot the names of people I have known for years and worked with on an interim basis..once or twice a year. Could this be caused by the Paxil.. Am I heading to dementia ? Or is it because I am off paxil? I talked with my doctor and he asked if I would consider going back on paxil or trying another drug.
Avatar n tn What is the long term effects from being on Paxil, say ten to twenty years. Has there ever been a study?
Avatar n tn I took the klonopin as needed even though it is mostly used for long term. I know that the drowsiness does go away and as I stated, it can be used for long term, however you definitely become dependent and need to be weaned off. Also, has your doctor said anything about buspar??? Now I take Paxil and buspar (2x a day) and Klonopin when needed (which is hardly never). I weaned off the depakote after one year.
1038916 tn?1264060250 From a Physiological point of view, is there negative long term effects from using SSRI's. ie: Is there any lasting long term changes to my reseptors and gland etc. I am using Escitalopram 10mg and have been for over a year.
Avatar n tn Take it real solw and ask your doctor about taking Remeron to help take the edge of off the Paxil side effects. Did a great job for me! Lets you get to sleep at night and really helps with the anixety. However, it did keep me in a fog for a few days until my body adjusted.
Avatar m tn I completely agree with Paxiled. If you're feeling good on this medication then why stop taking it? It's hard to say what withdrawal side effects a person may have but I don't think your cough was a side effect because you had it before you started this med. You know what's best for you and if this med is working then don't let your Dr try to take you off of it. That's just my opinion.
Avatar m tn t feeling depressed. In fact, things were going pretty well other than the side effects of Paxil changing and increasing. I have a talk therapist, thank you, but she's lost on how to help. Sometimes you have to listen to the patient; I lived with the panic attacks for which I was put on Paxil a long time before I went on it, and I know myself well. I'm fifty six years old now, I know who I am, or was.
Avatar n tn m not big on side effects and all that. I have been taking paxil for 4 days now and on day two I realized that I was yawning so much that my jaw was starting to hurt (yawn) I cant stop. Im really really tired and the yawning is getting quite annoying. Is this normal and when does It usually stop? Im also obese weighing in at 257.4 lbs with only a 5'2" height. I heard alot about paxil making you gain weight. I dont want that. Im trying to become healthy.
Avatar f tn This Dr. likes Celexa but I am really having a hard time with the side effects. Anybody else on long term benzo's. BTW I don't drink or smoke.
10361664 tn?1409609407 thats why my anxiety got bad...so he wants to up the paxil and take me off the zoloft cause of the side effects. I cant even work im sleeping til 2 in the afternoon and stomach is so upset! Thank you for your input I really appreciate it!
Avatar m tn I took one Lexapro a month ago. Severe symptoms, couldn't eat or sleep for 4 days, terrible depression, anxiety hundreds of times worse than what I took the 10mg pill for. Obsessing about suicide. Doctor says side effects don't last that long. Still having trouble sleeping, eating, I don't know if I'm going to get through this. Does it ever go away? Where can I go? Who knows anything?
Avatar f tn Short term and on occasion long term movement disorders can be caused by SSRI anti-depressents such as Paxil. Klonopin is generally able to treat short term movement disorders (which are generally not of concern) such as dystonia. However long term movement disorders such as tardive dyskinesia are of concern and are an adverse side effect that can occur from SSRI's. These would be listed on the medication website.
Avatar f tn All meds have side effects. Some are really bad, some are endurable. But at the very beginning, those effects aren't necessarily the long term ones. Many people report getting nervous at first on these meds, but it usually goes away. If it doesn't, then this isn't the med for you.
Avatar f tn Jails, institutions or death are the most common long term side effects I have seen, or the person quits and has a program of recovery. Why do you ask?
Avatar f tn i wonder did a doctor tell you you had multiple chemical sensitivites....
Avatar n tn I have read all the side effects but it is hard finding anything on the severe long term effects of taking this drug. Does anyone know a link or maybe some answers?
Avatar f tn What are the long term side effects of taking Gabapentin for long term pain control?
Avatar n tn That's a good one! I sure hope I get that long term side effect.
747988 tn?1396536878 hi folks-just looking around for info re long term side effects of treatment and came across you lot ranting away on your keyboards! I successfully completed 6months tx in april 2007 and am now unable to do very much due to the fatigue, pain and confusion I've suffered since. Just wanted to be added to the list of damaged souls. Have lost a lot of friends to this horrible disease so am very glad to have cleared it but at what cost?
1689583 tn?1387752394 I am reading there are long term side effects with treatment, I am getting the heebie jeebies I have been positive till now but need to know if this is true.
Avatar m tn s been metabolized better, and thus, alas, the more side effects. Clonazepam, by the way, is for long term use, not necessarily short term. Xanax or Ativan would be more likely to be given for short term use.
