First, this could still be withdrawal from the Paxil. By essentially taking two drugs at once you eliminated the possibility of knowing which symptoms are withdrawal and which are from the new drug. Your taper off Paxil was way too quick for that drug, and a lot of your symptoms sound more like withdrawal symptoms than side effects of Wellbutrin. But also, wellbutrin is very stimulating and not usually used for anxiety for that reason.
My daughter is currently taking a combination of depakote, lamictal, and abilify for a mood disorder. However, her doctor feels the overwhelming problem with her is an anxiety disorder that is not being addressed by the current meds.
The doctor wants to ween her off the lamictal completely and start her on klonopin wafers. I am concerned about the "drowsiness" side effects. Do these eventually go away?
One question would be how quickly did you stop the Paxil -- abruptly or after a long taper? And how did you feel while going off of it? As I said on the other forum, the withdrawal effects of stopping Paxil are its worst aspect. Another problem with Paxil is that it's stronger than other antidepressants for whatever reason, and often other antidepressants don't work because of that. (Often, Paxil doesn't work anymore either once you quit using it).
I also take Paxil for a sleep disorder (depression-related insomnia) and have for 11+ years. It works wonderously, but I gained 30+ lbs when I started the medication and have tried for years to lose it, unsuccessfully. I will lose some weight - and believe me, it takes an enormous amount of exercise and effort - but inevitably gain it back because Paxil makes my appetite so strong.
Sabrina, yes paxil,like all the other ssri's can cause weight gain. The medication that doesn't is wellbutrin, or if anxiety is the main symptom, klonopin. You should adjust to tiredness within a week, if not, then maybe the dose is too high for you. Re obesity, you have to learn how to stop stress eating, which is probably more difficult for you because of your anxiety. the best way to do that is to take the course at www.shrinkyourself.com, or consult a therapist.

I took one Lexapro a month ago. Severe symptoms, couldn't eat or sleep for 4 days, terrible depression, anxiety hundreds of times worse than what I took the 10mg pill for. Obsessing about suicide. Doctor says side effects don't last that long. Still having trouble sleeping, eating, I don't know if I'm going to get through this. Does it ever go away? Where can I go? Who knows anything?

It feeds my anxiety wondering if the psych is correct about meds,dosage,side effects,risks,time it takes to see improvement. Do they have my best interests at heart,etc. Had a Dr give me ativan and never bothered to mention weaning off. Am now on 10mg Lex 4 days,Felt better the first day,not since. I have to disagree with your Dr. I know many people, including myself, that gained weight on Paxil.
Prozac and Paxil are both antidepressants but they are different. I think you're most likely going through some withdrawal from the Paxil. You could also be having start up side effects from the Prozac. If we do get start up side effects it can be hard to say how long they'll last. I'm not sure what advice I can give you as far as what med to take.
I tried Paxil also for panic attacks and had the same problem. Effexor was even worse. Extreme nausea, and my anxiety was inreased. Could not sleep, and horrible dreams when I did. I could only tolerate it for a few days before I begged for something else. I needlessly suffered (in my opinion) for months before I asked (begged) for a tricyclic amine, in my case, Pamelor (Nortriptyline).
Pamelor was/is great. I don't understand the medical community (or much of it).
I know how to ween myself off it but it ,as many people know, has terrible withdraw side effects. One of the side effects I am having is my anxiety attacks are coming back the same as they were before all of the medication. I am perscribed to xanex. If I take xanex ocationally in this period of Paxil withdraw will that harm me?? Are the anxiety attacks just a side effect that will go away after the withdraws are gone?? However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
