paxil

Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil for 5 years (20mg) and this is my 3rd attempt at quitting. the first time i quit cold turkey and got the brain zaps and flue like symptoms i tried that for a couple of days and decided to go back on. The 2nd time I reduced by cutting my pills in half for about a week then stopped cold turkey; but after a month of still being completely emotionally unstable and feeling like everyone hated me and was out to get me decided to go back on.
Avatar n tn On anti-depressants I think there's quite a few that are "liver friendly" I was prescribed Zoloft a long time ago. I never took it long enough for it to kick in but I've also been offered Paxil, but I personally rejected that offer. Depression is quite common with HepC so I'm sure there's no shortage of very effective one's that are safe. Also there are some types of Amino-Acids that work fairly well for depression.
701313 tn?1228347713 re experiencing, although very annoying, are very typical of Effexor XR, and particularly Paxil. It has to do with the Seritonin level decreasing in your body. Once things stabilize, I think you'll notice these electrical shortage-type feelings will subside. Some people call them "zip-zap" type feelings. I used to feel them in my eyes and ears when I was withdrawing from a particular antidepressant. Paxil was the worst.
148588 tn?1465778809 Hmmm, I heard a report that the drug shortage was on meds not making pharmaceutical companies enough profit, not that the drugs weren't working. Why are the people on the bottom being asked to sacrifice while the top is making record profits? In my opinion until our values alter, away from greed, nobody is going to want to 'sacrifice' anything.
Avatar n tn I was doing alot of research last night on the shortage and I have seen that alot of people are going to the compound pharmacy to get their 30 mg. They are compounding it with ginger in the Tampa area I know and some other areas too. It seems they are expensive though at 5 bucks a pill:( I called mallinckrodt last night also and they say that the shortage will soon end.
Avatar f tn I just went to see my endo today for a 6 month check up and was told that there is a shortage on Thyrogen in the US and that I'd have to off meds for 6 weeks this time instead of getting the thyrogen injections like I have since my second scan. I simply cannot fathom going off meds again for 6 weeks. It was a horrible experience for me the first time and I simply do not have three more years to get myself back on track again after it's over.
Avatar f tn I would have to say anyone that could not see a food shortage coming as a result of all this and the rising prices as a result would have to have their head in a hole somewhere. Our water supply is at risk as well. So is it the result of our government trying to take us over? lol sorry. Nope, we are killing our planet and seems it is fighting for survival. In other words believe it or not, the bible is being fulfilled.
Avatar m tn Michigan seems to be having this problem too :\
606423 tn?1271824088 I guess they changed their formulation or something along thos lines and thats why there is a shortage. A lot of us have switched to other natural brands such as Westhroid and Naturethroid.
535882 tn?1396576685 Have you noticed any differences in the consistency of the NP tablets since the "shortage"? I had yet another shortage here last month.
Avatar f tn A coalition of health care groups has suggested some legislative and regulatory steps in addressing the drug-shortage crisis. Among them are creating an early drug-shortage warning system, streamlining the FDA's approval process, improving communications between stakeholders, and exploring incentives to encourage drug manufacturers to stay in, or re-enter, the market.
535882 tn?1396576685 Whats the possible problems with using 2 different brands or a combo of compound plus a brand of natural thyroid short term to get over a shortage of a brand of thyroid being available???? any thoughts on this?
Avatar n tn After the first week the lab told us that there was a nationwide shortage of the necessary reagent and it would take an extra week for results. After two weeks they told us that they had the reagent and the sample, and we would have results in a week. After the third week they told us we didn't make it into the previous batch and it would take a further week.
Avatar f tn s a different story. In the present day, as you found, there is no shortage of info and warnings about Paxil. Does that excuse your doctor from not educating you? No, but it also doesn't excuse you from not doing your homework, and I absolutely positively don't say that in a mean or negative way. It's very very early on...hopefully you will fully recover, and like Paxiled said, you may want to consider resuming the Paxil and doing a very slow and deliberate taper.

Avatar f tn Trigger shot shortage as anyone heard of this? I just found out next month my doctor is going to do an IUI for the first time and I guess there is a shortage on the trigger shot. Does anyone know where to get this, I have tried all the web sites I found and they are all out of them. I really want to have this done but am afraid that it will not work without this. HELP PLEASE!
Avatar f tn I have stage 4 epithelial ovarian resistant cancer. I had 20 cycles of taxo/carbo and my Ca125 was down to 20 from 4,000 before debulking and any chemo. After the debulking and 1 chemo, my CA125 went to 3,000. The scans at 20 didn't show anything. Then 3 weeks later the Ca125 went to 24. 2weeks later it went to 25 and then 2 weeks later 26. We knew it reared its head. After these scans it spread to inside my liver. I never had it inside an organ. Either it was on top or underneath.
Avatar m tn However, recently I have been experiencing shortage of breath every time I wake up from sleeping and it is accompanied with dry cough ... Sometimes it happens to me 3 or 4 time a day and sometimes it does not happen to me daily. anyways I have been taking Ventolin as it provides me with temporary relief, but am still worried from the causes of this feeling of heavy lungs and shortage of breath.
Avatar n tn Report these pharmacies as they are breaking the law and taking advantage of the shortage. For people that are on a fixed income, this is a horrendous situation. Don't ignore this; act on this as it will only benefit you and the rest of us! The text below is from the FDA's website. Oxycodone Immediate Release Tablets (5mg, 15mg and 30mg) updated 3/25/2009 Mallinckrodt Inc. (5mg, 15mg and 30mg) (1-800-325-8888) Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Avatar n tn t work better after my next bump. However, there is a shortage of the natural stuff right now, so you might be stuck on Levo until the shortage is resolved.
585414 tn?1288941302 But unknown to most Americans, the country is now in the grips of a life-threatening drug shortage. Medical professionals are quite aware of it, however, and they're deeply concerned. So is the Food and Drug Administration. Unfortunately, the FDA's hands are pretty much tied when it comes to taking steps that could ease this crisis. It's powerless to demand that a drug company produce a particular medication simply because it's becoming dangerously unavailable.
572651 tn?1530999357 If you are in the US and watch the news or read the papers, you might have caught the latest drug shortage worries about Methotrexate. This drug is sometimes used in MS, because it will suppress the immune system. I believe it has been used for a number or years and we might even have a person or two who have passed through here who use methotrexate. It is also prescribed for a number of different neurological problems that cause inflammation.
Avatar n tn Has anyone noticed that there is a shortage of Acyclovir in the US? I live on the East coast and have found that it is very hard to get my prescription re-filled. I take 400mg x2 a day for suppression and I have only been able to get 200mg. With some difficulty I might add. It isn't the end of the world but I am concerned about the supply in a month when I go for another re-fill. I read on the FDA web site that there is currently a shortage. http://www.fda.
Avatar f tn what is the proper way to taper back to paxil? 3. How unsafe is paxil with pregnancy and what other options do I have? HELP! I feel like I am losing my mind!!!!
Avatar f tn could be the cause of the sinus tachycardia so he recently switched me from Paxil to Lexapro. So the Paxil is now out of my system but I am still feeling the rapid heart beat. I know it's not dangerous since that is what the cardiologists have told me but I'm experiencing extreme anticipatory anxiety as to when my heart will speed up again and that something is going to happen to me, such as fainting or dying.
Avatar n tn Can I quit the paxil and take the klonopin 3 x a day as prescribed and safely get off Paxil. I am getting fat!
467977 tn?1262714747 I take Paxil and buspar on a daily basis. I used to only take the paxil, but I still had terrible anxiety in the morning. My doctor then added the buspar 2x a day. It helped me almost immediately. It took away that horrible nausea and anxiety by 90 % in the morning. Some people say that buspar isn't effective, but it has been very effective for me. I take Klonopin only on an as needed basis. (Which is very rarely). Hope this helps!

Avatar n tn s a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
