Common Questions and Answers about Paxil overdose symptoms

paxil

Avatar n tn I would suggest you to go for MRI of the brain and spine to rule out Multiple Sclerosis and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This will give a diagnosis whether your symptoms are due to medication overdose or neurological disease. The significant symptoms of these diseases are balance problems along with other neurological symptoms. Please consult a neurologist for the same. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg. So is she weaning me off the Paxil along with the Cymbalta? And is this safe for a week of taking cymbalta 30mg and Paxil 20mg for a week?
Avatar m tn or can i combine the Paxil with 1 or more of these supplemtns at the same time? if so, how should i do that? could i take Paxil 1 day, then supplements the next day (w/o Paxil), etc.
Avatar f tn LOL Prior to having my kids and for a while after my second one, I was on Paxil CR 12.5 for anxiety leading to depression. Got off it the first pregnance with HORRIBLE withdrawals. Zaps in the head, the whole nine yards. Vowed I would never go on it again -- but of course, stress and postpartum = Paxil after my second son. Got off it successfully again but drank heavily for a while. I have been not drinking at all for the past 6 months. I only take Ultram with OTC stuff...
400867 tn?1371753094 I remember when I went off my paxil many moons ago for a month or so. My symptoms and freak outs started all over again and I remember being so scared and saying "No, not again!"...however, I went right back on my paxil and a few days later I was much better. I feel that if "it ain't broke, don't fix it". My paxil is my miracle drug..did it complete rid me of my massive anxiety??? absolutely NOT, I wish I could say yes....but it has improved me by 90%.
Avatar f tn I've been on Paxil for approximately seven years, starting at 60mg and tapering down to 30mg as of two years ago. I'm still on that dose. I've experienced the withdrawal symptoms before, when I've forgotten to take my medicine, as well as when I've been in the process of decreasing my dose, but lately, I've been feeling the withdrawal symptoms when I have been taking my medicine regularly.
Avatar n tn , Symptom onset is usually rapid, often occurring within minutes after self-poisoning or a change in medication. Serotonin syndrome encompasses a wide range of clinical findings. Mild symptoms may only consist of tachycardia, shivering, diaphoresis (sweating), mydriasis (dilated pupils), myoclonus (intermittent tremor or twitching), as well as overresponsive reflexes.
Avatar m tn s Disease. Are these symptoms just normal anxiety symptoms or something more? Every time I go to the doctor, I feel as if they are thinking, "oh not this guy again", but I feel like if I had an MRI or something like that I would feel much better. I live in Ontario, Canada and was wondering if it costs money, and how I can manage to get one done?
Avatar f tn By essentially taking two drugs at once you eliminated the possibility of knowing which symptoms are withdrawal and which are from the new drug. Your taper off Paxil was way too quick for that drug, and a lot of your symptoms sound more like withdrawal symptoms than side effects of Wellbutrin. But also, wellbutrin is very stimulating and not usually used for anxiety for that reason.
558156 tn?1217727396 Overdose symptoms are depressed respitory system, you basically stop breathing, dizzy spells to the point where you feel as though you are passing out, blurry vision. OD dosages are certainly unique to each individual and based on tolerance levels. But I dont think 15mg of ocycodone are going to throw you into an od status.
Avatar f tn Absolutely positively agree with Paxiled. Your doctor is recommending things that could actually be dangerous. It isn't uncommon to introduce a new med in the same class of meds once the original one (in your case, the Paxil) has been tapered down to an extremely low dose, or, better yet, stopped all together. You shouldn't be concurrently taking these kinds of meds together.
Avatar f tn What you are describing sound very much like anxiety symptoms, rather than a side effect of the Paxil. Now...in saying that...SSRIs DO have a tendency to increase anxious symptoms initially before they help them. Usually after the first week, any side effects that are causing an exacerbation of the anxiety start to subside. Still, I think a chit chat with your doc is in order. Whether you stay on the Paxil or change to another SSRI...
Avatar m tn Can someone give me either the symptoms or the timeline for an Ibuprofen overdose? And what's going to happen if I don't get treatment? I've taken approx. 40 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 32 hours ago.
Avatar n tn Dangerous or fatal rise in body temperature, Seizures, Heart attack, Brain hemorrhage, Kidney failure, Stroke, Repeated convulsions, Tremors, Delirium and finally, Death/ if you suspect an overdose seek immediate medical attention
Avatar n tn What are your current thyroid hormone levels? Be sure to post reference ranges with results, since ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. You should be getting tested periodically for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Do you have other symptoms of over medication, such as weight loss, diarrhea, tremors, etc. Do you have Hashimoto's?
Avatar n tn nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, sweating, confusion, weakness. There are more, but easy to find if you search the web. Just taking an amount over the prescribed dose is NOT the definition of an overdose.
Avatar m tn Recent study is showing that Paxil causes a change in personality in term of reduced neurotic symptoms and increased extraversion. Paxil appears to have a specific pharmacological effect on personality that is distinct from it's effect on depression.
Avatar f tn (night sweats, food and drug allergies, flushing red face and chest, tinnitus, toe and leg cramps at night, weight gain) Do you agree that these symptoms are probably Paxil- related ? How hard to get off a 10mg dose and how long will it take to pass through it ? I will do this with a Dr's supervision, but want to know what the benefits are and what I might be in for.
Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil for over 10 years, Paxil CR 25 mg and decided to try to get off of them. I am down to Paxil 10 mg (weaning due to horrible withdrawal), and after about 3 weeks on this dose feel symptoms of my depression/anxiety coming back - lack of motivation, feeling melancholy, focusing too much on the negative, anxiety, etc... I do not want to go back up on the Paxil as it has been so hard to come off of.
Avatar n tn I took Paxil for 4 years and expreienced headaches, drowsiness, heat rash, and some itching. I now take Lexapro instead and still have similar symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have quit Paxil cold-turkey 7 days ago. I read in a forum about using Allegra (an allergy med) to help the side effects. I have found that the Allegra really helps with the Zaps that occur. My problem is I don't want to take one in the afternoon, evening because they will keep me awake all night! Anybody got any night time ideas. I will not take another Paxil - I will put up with whatever licks I have to take. Any idea how long withdrawl symptoms will pop up. Do I have them all now?
Avatar f tn 1. is it normal for these symptoms to get worse (I have not eaten or slept pretty much and have lost 10 pounds and have crazy anxious thoughts) 2. what is the proper way to taper back to paxil? 3. How unsafe is paxil with pregnancy and what other options do I have? HELP! I feel like I am losing my mind!!!!
Avatar f tn He also needs to judge his clinical symptoms before deciding to taper off Paxil. Symptoms of the condition for which he is taking Paxil, might re-appear or increase after stopping it. You will have to weigh the risks against the benefits. I won't be able to suggest if Paxil should be stopped, as I have not examined him personally. But if you do decide to stop it, the best way to do is taper it off gradually and watch for any symptoms of discontinuation syndrome (also called withdrawal).
Avatar n tn A friend of mine stopped Paxil and then started on Celexa without waiting for the entire withdrawl time. She, too, suffered from the same symptoms that you have listed. There are many other SSRI's (and Paxil fits into this category as does Celexa) that could be used which might be of more help to you.
Avatar n tn I switched from Paxil to prozac because of weight gain - been on th eprozac for one week and depression/anxiety symptoms are back in full force. I want to go back to Paxil - do I have to wait while the prozac gets out of my system, or can I start today? Do I need to taper off the prozac (20mg) if I've only been on it a week?
Avatar m tn Overdose Of Paracetamol often shows NO SYMPTOMS within the first 24 hours after the overdose. In some cases although there may be mild nausea and vomiting. If the overdose is large then liver function may start deteriorating leading to either of these; jaundice, confusion, and loss of consciousness. Death due to overdose of Paracetamol is rare but when it occurs it is in majority of cases due to liver failure.
Avatar f tn I've been on Paxil for 2 years, diagnosed with hypothyroidism 1 yr ago... Long story short, I'm trying to get off Paxil now, hoping that my depression was caused by thyroid. I weaned myself (doctor approved) down to 10 mg, doc said I should be fine to stop taking it... Now I am having SEVERE headaches and nausea. I don't want to get back on this med, and would prefer to suffer through withdrawals, however it's very difficult to function when I'm feeling this way.
Avatar n tn My doctor swiched me from Paxil to Bupropion Sr. last week and He said that thier was no need to ween myself off of the Paxil. So I started the Bupropion Sr at 150mg once a day for 4 days and then was to go on to two a day, Well since I started the drug. I have been very dizzy and if I move my head to fast I feel like a jolt in my vision. I told my doctor and he suggested to stay on the one a day for another week. I also have lost a pound a day since starting the drug.
