paxil

445725 tn?1206388767 I do have nightmares occasionally...I never realized that it could cause nightmares! So THAT explains it!!! Bambi- I have been a yoyo dieter my whole life...many ups and downs. (just like my moods! LOL) I have been heavier and also at my thinnest on paxil. Just eat healthy and exercise and it shouldn't cause a gain. My friend who is on Effexor has gained MUCHO weight!!! So stay away from that if weight is an issue!
774736 tn?1311331385 I was diagnosed with GAD earlier this year and have gone through horrific panic attacks, agoraphobia, and many other anxiety related nightmares but lately Ive been struggling with sleep deprivation...Every day for the past couple months I have not been able to sleep at a reasonable hour...I have to completely exaust myself to finally get to sleep and before I do, I go through a period of feeling "under the influence", as if im drunk or high...
Avatar m tn Hi, I was on Paxil 20mg for two years. I decided that I wanted to get of the medication mid July of this year because I felt like I really didn't need the medicine anymore. I went to my family doctor to be weaned off. He told me that I should take 10 mg for a week and then stop all together. I asked him if I would experience any side effects from going off of the medication. He told me no. So I did what he instructed me to do.
Avatar f tn But depression was getting the best of her and Paxil 25mg became part of her daily medications. Prior to Paxil her heart mantained at "healthy" 95-110 bpm.
Avatar f tn ve been taking celexa regularly for a year now and every night I have nightmares. graphic nightmares, and I wake up from one then fall asleep and another begins. My doctor tried to tell me that I have a sleep disorder and I should start taking something for it, but I've never ever had trouble sleeping before. I used to like having vivid dreams every night but then it turned into nightmares I feel like recently it's started to drive me nuts.
Avatar n tn I have been taking paxil since october 2012 , starting at 12 mg / once a day, by mid December my dose was at 37.5 mg/ twice a day. I was feeling very angry and feeling emotions from extreme highs to lows and my social anxity was coming back worse than it was before i started paxil. This week my dr. has put me on Citalopram 20 mg/ once a day it has been 4 days on this new med. And my dr. Didnt taper me off of the paxil.
662361 tn?1225334507 Yes, I had been on various different anti-depressants (Paxil, Zoloft, Wellbutrin) at different times in my early 20's to mid-20's as a result of "situational depression" (I was in a Domestic Violence marriage at the time.) The Effexor and then later, Wellbutrin (along w/ Ambien) was Rx'd after a BAAaaaaaad reaction to Prednisone.
179856 tn?1333547362 Ooops I did it again. I completely forgot about the last time I tried it and this time it was longer and much worse. If you are on an AD do NOT just stop taking it or seriously.........you risk the white coat treatment and a trip to the hospital. About five days ago I decided I didn't need the paxills anymore so I didn't refill them. Then the nightmares started. I mean hardcore horrible worse things you can imagine and so real nightmares.
Avatar m tn I quit taking paxil cold turkey about a week ago and now have been going through hell on earth! Nightmares, hallucinating, diahrrea, dizziness, zapping spells through my whole body, shakiness, crying, etc. I wish I never started taking them in the first place! I gained 40 pounds in the six months I took paxil, and my sex drive has dissappeared 100%! I feel like I am walking through water all day day long.
Avatar f tn Coming off Paxil can be pure hell for many people. I once tried to quit cold turkey and on top of the common dizziness and shock-like sensations on the back of my head, I got sore, knotted muscles, a full body rash, horrible nightmares, anxiety, memory problems, a disconnected feeling, crippling depression/crying and diarreah. It took me over 3 years to get from 30mg to 15mg/day and I had to wean off it one miligram at the time.
704329 tn?1518523098 I can feel safe in telling you that the those problems were most definitely parially the Paxil. Nightmares is among the long list of withdrawl symptoms for Paxil. You cannot quit Paxil "cold turkey". This is not only very uncomfortable but could prove dangerous to your own well-being. Paxil has the shortest half-life of all the SSRI's. It will last full effect for a mere half-day (hence the reason for the CR version).
Avatar f tn Hello, I just turned 19 last week and I struggled with strong negative thoughts for years. Decided to go to a psychiatrist less than a year ago in January after so many existential crisis, depression and despersonalization. The psychiatrist prescribed me Agomelatine, I took it for three months but it was too expensive and I couldn't even find it in my country. So he changed it to Paxil and it literally ruined me. At first it was okay but then I started feeling worse. It started my anxiety.
Avatar f tn The snris are also like this, but still, some people do find taking them helps with anxiety because anxiety very often comes from depression. Wellbutrin, in other words, is not a better antidepressant than Paxil, just different; Paxil was in fact approved for depression treatment and was then used later for anxiety, as have most antidepressants. Sometimes they work for a person, sometimes they don't. Secondly, all drugs that affect sleep affect REM sleep.
847195 tn?1296171647 ve had really weird dreams, sometimes good buy mostly nightmares, last night i had really nice dreams, i have about 5 or 6 a night that i can remember! I wanted to no if this is from the lexapro i just went on 3 weeks ago? or is it my anxiety? i have had anxiety for a very long time, about 3 years and extremely bad panic attacks and very very bad globulus hystercus, but never really had crazy dreams like this from any of that! These dreams are are like some crazy trip, not my normal dreams...
Avatar m tn This continued for 2 months then I decreased the Paxil to 30mg and did not have any effects. This made me curious that the Paxil is not working. My questions are: 1. I would like to change to another SSRI or SNRI to see if this will make a difference. I was thinking Celexa. What is your opinion? 2. How would I switch medications. Could I take low doses of both at the same time or can I switch over all at once? 3. I am considering visual flooding.
445725 tn?1206388767 So, I've been on Paxil for about two months. Not sure if this is related, but I finally started to have a beer or two every three or four days. Nothing excessive, always in moderation. I've noticed that I have a harder time falling asleep now than I did when I first started taking Paxil. Also, I've been on this kick where I tell everyone I love them. Even people I just met after a day or two. What gives? Is it the alcohol or something else? Ever experience this?
Avatar m tn t know the half of it with Paxil and Effexor. An incompetent psychiatrist took me off Paxil incorrectly, and three years later I'm still a goner. No life left. Irony is, I went off it to try natural remedies, and they had the reverse effect after withdrawal. Drugs are dangerous, but herbs and natural remedies also require a lot of expertise to dose properly.
358304 tn?1409709492 high fiber is good. believe it or not...slim fast shakes or a store brand really does help with keeping things regular. as far as lexapro goes...i've had very good results with it in the past. i think i would prefer it over paxil. i've never taken paxil but i've heard a lot about it. i'm not trying to aim you towards taking one thing over another...but as paxiled said, 5mg just isn't going to do much. thats like going deer hunting with a pellet gun.
Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil for 8 years. I was told that the Paxil was not working for me anymore.( I have had a very stressful 2 years and at Christmas time I noticed that I was withdrawing and not feeling well, was having some panic attacks.) So since January I have tried Effexor made things worse. Zoloft 2 different doses no luck and now Prozac 2nd increase on this drug as well. I had remained on the Paxil the entire time and was reducing it.
470885 tn?1326329037 Not exactly the same drug but I have stopped paxil twice and both times the first few days were the worst and after a week everything was fine. I had vivid dreams/nightmares and odd visual effects (particularly weird around glass doors). Good luck with your family plans. Try to ignore any withdrawl symptoms by keeping busy and thinking about your long term happiness when you have your new baby. Take care.
Avatar n tn This problem went on for years, and after being told by a second endocrinologist that my thyroid bloodwork was fine, he pointed his finger in my face and loudly told me I was depressed and put me on Paxil. I gained 45 lbs in one year; weaned myself off the Paxil and sought other help. My PCP at that time remained in the practice, but moved to their sister practice many miles away and too far to travel, and I was given still another PCP. This one also found my thyroid to be "fine".
Avatar m tn re on a high dose of Paxil. Now, some psychiatrists will switch you to Prozac to help with Paxil withdrawal, because it stays in the body longer. Don't know if it helps or not.
1457916 tn?1287819113 I had every physical symptom of anxiety. I have just started taking Paxil and Ativan and I can already see my symptoms fading. You must get professional help. Don't try to tackle this alone. I suffered for months thinking it would just go away. Anxiety is an evil bugger and cannot be taking lightly. Please seek professional help.
1402011 tn?1291411782 5 mg from about 13 to 21, I switched to Paxil, and then because of weight gain stopped everything. I found myself back on Klonopin on and off. I am now on K at .25 milligram spaced twice at day at .125 dosage. Here is my question.
276730 tn?1327962946 Howevr before tx I have never suffered nightmares, there isnt one night that has gone by since I started tx up until last night ( and last night was a doozy)!! that I havent had a BAD nightmare and I mean bad. Has anyone heard of interferon doing this? I really cant handle it anymore. its to the point I dont want to go into bed at night. And I mean bad!
Avatar m tn I cannot fall asleep without the medication. If I skip taking it, I frequently wake up through the night and sometimes I even have nightmares. Sometimes, even, when I do take it, I will get up in the middle of the night and start eating. I have a really hard time waking up in the morning. Up until 4 pm, I don't feel like myself. I lose things, I am very clumsy and forgetful. Sometimes, I can't even focus and I feel lost. I am very cranky and get irritated so easily.
Avatar n tn Wow, you are so much like me. I have had anxiety since I was 16. I had no idea what it was when I was in school. I seemed to get by okay for years, with my anxiety only affecting me when I would be in certain situations. A few years back, I was perscribed lexapro and then effexor and I stopped taking both because I was afraid of how it would effect me.
