Paxil libido

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil libido

paxil

Avatar m tn Hi guys, I'm 31 years old and have been taking Paxil for about 10 years now. I've tried to stop taking the medication many times but my depression always returns. In any case Paxil works for me but the only problem is it has sexual side effects. I get aroused and am able to maintain an erection but it can be very hard to reach orgasm. Is there any other drug that can counteract this side effect or perhaps another anitdepressant that doesn't have this side effect?
Avatar f tn The paxil effects my libido (low) and I still feel a little nervousness, but that is subsiding. It's been 3 weeks of Paxil so far. I take the Klonopin to releive the nervousness. To answer your other question, I haven't experienced anything "weird" per se....
2044839 tn?1331255841 I took paxil only twice and it was only 5mg and it made me feel like a zombie. I know you need to give it more time but i just couldnt handle it they know gave me prozac.
Avatar f tn I was restless all night and was sweating worse than ever. I am currently taking 40mg of paxil and am also on Lamisil. I am pretty healthy, 200 pounds, 6'1", good libido. I have suffered with some mild depression over the past year.
Avatar n tn After several personal problems in the past and a history of depression I was prescribed Paxil. My personal opinion of this drug is that it is the "drug from hell". After being on it for about a year I discontinued use and yes I did go through nightmarish withdrawal symptoms. But that's been over 5 months ago and I still have no sex drive whatsoever. Before Paxil I had what I assumed was a normal sex drive for a 50 plus year old male individual. Now nothing.
Avatar f tn I was still having some depression/anxiety issues so I saw a psychiatrist who changed me to wellbutrin 200mg twice a day and weaning off the paxil. I have been taking 10 mg of paxil for the last month and now am taking it every other day to wean off. In the last few days I have been so dizzy to the point of almost falling down and not sleeping well at night with crazy dreams. Is this all do to the new medicine or could it be something else.
Avatar m tn i got diagonosed with depression and anxiety and the doctor gave me paxil. i was suppose to start it like 2 weeks ago but havent because friends told me that all meds do is turn you into a zombie and make you a complete different person than you are. is this true? will i be able to see a difference? and also are there any extreme side effects with this pill? im tierd of feeling low, and im tierd of feeling scared all the time. but i definatley dont want to turn into a complete different person.
Avatar m tn Honestly, you have a lot on your plate before thinking about sex. It's hard to tell if a med has caused it, but I can tell you deep depression will kill your libido, especially if you've been suicidal. I'm on a myriad of meds, and my libido is great. So hopefully you can get stable again, and become more balanced, then once that's happened, I would address this with your psychiatrist. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn I have had panic attacks as long as i can remember. I have been on paxil for almost 10 years now. I had gotten off of it for a year and was doing ok until some bad stuff happened all at once and i couldnt shake it. I am on 60 miligrrams now and when i got off of it i was sick and couldnt eat from the attacks. I went from 155lbs to 107lbs in three months. So im back on it now and my weight is at 150lbs. I gained the weight back almost instantly.
Avatar n tn Which has more side effects, Paxil or effexor?? Which is easier to ween off of Paxil or Effexor? When you ween off of a med. do the side effects subside?? I am so scared. Somebody please answer. Thank you so much.
1059090 tn?1254466801 I realize loss of sensation is an MS symptom. Some drugs can cause problems with sensation or libido. I took Paxil for years before someone told me that was the problem. The Doctor sure didn't. I have dryness with age and use lube. I went and bought some self help books in the area of sex and now I look at it as play. I know it is not easy, but i guess it is like every part of this disease you try to make the best of it.
Avatar n tn Because I entered into a serious relationship within these past couple months my doctor and I started discussing potential drugs that would increase my libido. She suggested Buspar. However, I have only been taking Buspar for two days and feel like it is having a counteractive affect on my adderall. I also feel a bit achy and irritated. Could I already be feeling these affects from the Buspar. Can Buspar have this affect on my adderall.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your comments. I don't believe the Paxil is working for my depression anymore. Not sure if it's causing my sleep issues. I need to see my doctor and discuss all of this with her.
Avatar n tn i suffer from panic disorder for many years and went off and on paxil for many times, went back on paxil 8 months ago and my sex drive is very bad, it wasnt a big issue before but i am getting married next month and my fiancee hate the situation i dont want to quit paxil and feel terrible but there is anything i can add to paxil to make it better?
Avatar m tn I wish to rid myself of the anxieties that cloud my brain, hindering my potential. But ANYWAYS...after meeting with a psychiatrist, she prescribed me 12.5 mg of Paxil a day. I was a little weary about taking this stuff at first after hearing about all the withdrawal symptoms and such, but in the end I decided to go ahead with it anyways in hopes that Paxil would give me the helping hand I needed. After taking 12.5 mg a day for about 3 or 4 weeks, my psychiatrist doubled my dosage.
Avatar n tn You're right, valium doesn't work long term, nor is it meant to. I would get a referral from your family regarding treatment and a proper diagnosis. From there, the specialist can figure out what meds will work best. Some meds don't affect your libido, but if your anxious and/or depressed, you don't have a libido anyways. I take meds in the Mood stabilizer class, but I was fully screened before meds were prescribed. It's in your best interest to see a psychiatrist.
7286884 tn?1389847536 I am off of it 10 months and still have crippling anxiety, forced to go on disability at age 28. Mind you before paxil... Occasional depression,.. After paxil anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, and like I said no one knows if it will ever stop. Psychiatrists don't acknowledge protracted aka long term withdrawal. I'm screwed for the next 50 years. I will never marry, have a job, etc.
Avatar m tn It seemed like I had my anxiety under control with Bupropion and lamictal but never quite cleared up the depression. So now Paxil. It has been 10 days at 20 mg. I did have a few headaches and have not had a libido in a while so I wont notice this.Just wondering aboun the increase in anxiety. thanks.
Avatar m tn Zoloft is considered a soft SSRI while Paxil is considered a potent SSRI. Zoloft is not linked with weight gain in the literature but everyone can react differently. Prozac is a good SSRI too with stimulating proprieties. Both drugs could have impact on your libido like most SSRIs. If I were you I would pick Zoloft and continue it with Wellbutrin (Wellbutrin is critical if you need your libido and energy like you said) like you doctor said, based on what you are seeking.
358304 tn?1409709492 So about 2 or 3 days ago, I upped my Paxil from 5mg to 10mg. My Dr. said 5mg wasnt doing anything. The 1st day I took 10mg Paxil I felt great. The 2nd day, I felt SO tired.. like a zombie.. and yesterday I noticed that I could not stop yawning! Like BIG yawns that make me want to gag almost! lol. I think I remember when I tried Lexapro a long time ago it did this to me, but can't really remember. Will this eventually wear off in a week or 2? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I posted this in the Anxiety forum, but hoped I'd get some help from here. I have been on Zoloft for years (on and off). I had to go back on it in January after a 6 month break. My anxiety got so bad I was having severe panic attacks. This time when I went on the Zoloft it had the opposite effect....it was more stimulating that calming for me and I'm not sure why. Neither is my doctor. I also have OCD and it increased my OCD by 10x almost immediately.
Avatar n tn Is there another drug that is similar to Xanax, but would not effect his libido?? He is sheepish about trying anything else because he has been on other things and had bad side effects before (i.e. Klonopin). Please help!!
Avatar m tn If you are the one taking the medication the answer is no. If your wife is taking medications the answer is yes. The only impacts the medications can have on your breeding are on your libido and sperm's DNA which could in the worse case cause some degree of infertility. Again the sperm data are not significant and more studies are needed to see what medications can cause DNA fragmentation.
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum. I have mild to moderate anxiety that affects my moods, temperament (irritability) and especially my ability to work effectively. I have extreme difficulty concentrating on simple reading, typing and other computer related tasks. I can not focus on a computer screen for more than 10 minutes at a time without becoming confused and unfocused about the task at hand. Consequently I avoid computer work and procrastinate like crazy to avoid it at any cost.
