Common Questions and Answers about Paxil in teenagers

paxil

Avatar n tn It can make depression worse, and if you miss a dose you can see the difference right away. I did alot of research on paxil and worked in Doctors offices and have seen several cases of Paxil causes more harm than good. Don't get me wrong for some people Paxil is great and for others it is bad. The Dr. I worked for had a couple patients that developed an additive reaction to paxil. Another words you just can't stop paxil you need to taper off of it.
Avatar m tn Recently, I've noticed 8-9 floaters. Should I be worried? Is it going to get worse? From what I've read, floaters in younger people are located in the premacular bursa but what exactly causes it?

511019 tn?1214337323 The treatment for Selective Mutism is multi-modal - intervention, therapy and possibly medication. The earlier the diagnosis; the better the prognosis. I belong to a support group for parents and teachers of children suffering from anxiety and we have had excellent results with our younger children using the above treatment (of course - medical personnel are involved). However, there seems to be a resistance to "helping" our teenagers in dealing with this disorder.
Avatar m tn well I am weening off or the bup. down to 75 will quit this week On 40 Paxil and 100 lamictal. Klonopin only when I need which I haven't in the last few days. so it looks like the paxil is kicking in, BUT I don"t like what I have read about Paxil.
Avatar n tn Are there endos that specialize in teenagers? It must be so frustrating for you!
Avatar n tn He had no memory as to putting them there. Yesterday I put in some laundry and then later put my clothes in the dryer. I left the house. He then came home and did his laundry and when it came time to dry them he took my clothes out and put them in a basket without folding or hanging some of it up. I came in and asked who did that and he swore it wasn't him. I knew it wasn't me nor my wife so that left him. He swore up and down that he didn't do it.
Avatar f tn I have tried Prilosec reglan Zantac Zyrtec At one point was out back on Paxil then tried Lexapro. This began again 2 weeks ago and I have lost 16 lbs with no appetite and inability to eat a whole meal. I go to bed fearing that the cycle will return again every morning and sure enough it does. I have considered going back on Lexapro or paxil so I can maybe eliminate the anxiety It feels like I have awful epigastric pain that awakens me with the trembling usually around 3am.
Avatar f tn Most likely - and somewhere in their room are two towels or wash cloths that are in desperate need of being washed. Relieve some of their anxiety - and some of yours - by telling both of them that, if they are "spunking", you're not going to alert the newspapers and radio stations or have them arrested for doing something entirely normal for teenagers but it isn't healthy for them not to clean whatever it is they're using to wipe themselves off afterwards.
Avatar f tn I recently came off of paxil because a doctor decided not to call me back or accept me back as a pt.. who knows really .. stuck in a pickle i ran out of meds. i went through holy hell and back withdrawing.. But what seems like normal **** and then some that i am going through.. ? of divorce trouble with kids.. teenagers, where i work is even worse.. Its alot of stress right now.. we started family counseling and the dr. wants me to see a psych and go back on meds.
Avatar f tn This is my first time to post on the internet asking for help so this is kind of strange for me. I've had anxiety since I can remember in kindergarten and it's only gotten worse with the years. I'm 21 years old now, currently taking summer classes and my anxiety is at it's max now. Everyday I go to class and my brain just seems to run in a million places. I can't think straight, I get extremely sweaty and my stomach gets upset.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have very very reluctantly gone on a low dose of Paxil 5mg per day due to anxiety, panic and agoraphobia. I made this decision after trying 'everything' natural and nothing really making enough difference, the years are going by and I'm geting used to this 'small' world, well had to do something. I tried Lexapro 2 years agao for 3 days and was very very ill from it. So now the Paxil is making me have a lump in my throat...will this go away?
Avatar m tn The doctor thought I may not have enough Paxil in my system so he put me on 25mg Paxil CR twice daily and it made me feel even worse. I felt like I had the flu and very achy. Very bad withdrawal effects. I was then put on regular paxil 40 mg daily and I constantly had the eye zaps and strong depersonalization feelings like I was in a constant withdrawal. I was then switched to Lexapro 20 mg.
Avatar n tn After reading the book, IBS for Dummies, I am sure this is what is going on with me and it all started with the paxil withdrawal. And no, my doctor never warned me about any of it. In fact, my primary care doc didn't think much of me reading this book. I have gotten a lot of info from this book and it seems to be helping.
Avatar n tn One day I started to feel like I was drunk but in a way I didn´t enjoy, the pulse was very high and pounding, an extreme restlessness and fever among other things. Then I discoverd that I had been taking a lower dose of Paxil for some time. As far as I can tell I had some degree of serotonin syndrome and now I'm a bit worried.
Avatar f tn paxil withdrawal... from 20 mg to 5mg in 9 weeks. going okay except for shoulder and hip joints aches. Is this pain something I can attribute to the paxil withdrawal?
Avatar f tn Good idea alikat1205. There are a few teenagers in my life (one nephew in particular) that I would like to have some impact on. He is very spoiled and just doesn't get not everyone gets what they want. It seems like he has no feeling for other people whatsoever.
Avatar n tn Take your time with them because time goes so fast and then they are teenagers before you know it. You will not regret staying home to take care of them!! Enjoy this blessing in your life.
Avatar f tn study leader Ghada El-Hajj Fuleihan, MD, of the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Lebanon, says in a news release. Kids are advised to get a daily vitamin D dose of 200 IU. That suggestion came from an Institute of Medicine panel that based its recommendation on the amount of vitamin D needed to prevent rickets in infants. However, more and more vitamin D experts have begun to suggest that children and adults need much more vitamin D than previously recognized.
Avatar n tn I have a 16 year old daughter who was just diagnosed. I've been asking for an in-depth thyroid study for 9 years. Her symptoms have included anemia, speech problems (now we find out a swollen tongue is a symptom), soft tooth enamel and for the last 3 years she has had a muscular problem that causes her to freeze up and drag her foot. We've seen 3 neurologists and had numerous EEG's and MRI's, even a psychiatrist after being told (a lot) that it was in her head.
Avatar f tn I decided to switch from Paxil (I have been on and off for 11 years but mostly on) and it has helped tremendously for my anxiety and panic attacks) to Zoloft in order to plan for a family in the future. Well I have been on it for almost 5 weeks and it has been pretty much pure hell. I started on 50 for 3 weeks and started feeling my symptoms coming back. Then my doc uped it to 100 and besides a couple of days I started to feel even worse. He wanted me to go to 150 but I am scared to death.
Avatar f tn I'm 15 but will be 16 in May I'm due in July 12 I understand what you're going through I love my son also <3 giving him ip was never an option and never will be .
Avatar m tn "Dangers: The “game” has lethal consequences. Brain damage or permanent neurological disabilities due to the lack of oxygen is a possibility and each year is responsible for a large number of juvenile deaths." --Michele Borba, Ed.D. So, to answer your question: Yes. Absolutely. It's every bit as dangerous as drugs and alcohol. This quote is about the choking game.
