Paxil ibs

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil ibs

paxil

358304 tn?1409709492 It could be IBS. You should have a colonoscopy to verify, but most likely it is IBS. IBS is aggravated by stress. Also diet is a big factor. For example, for many of us, we simply can't tolerate gluten and dairy. I have the opposite symptoms, but it's all IBS. When the doctor does the colonoscopy and sees nothing but what looks to be a healthy pink colon, he will conclude that it's IBS. But, it's best to have the test done, just to be on the safe side.
358304 tn?1409709492 it started out with a nervous stomach... then no appetite... Then I started getting IBS symptoms... and of course that scared me and it made my anxiety worse, and I lost more appetite... I went to the Dr. twice for the IBS just to make sure that's all it was... and he said that he didnt need to run any tests b/c that's all it was was IBS. He put me back on lexapro 5mg. I was on it for about a month... until yesterday. I had to go back to the Dr.
358304 tn?1409709492 i know 5mg isnt alot. but im kinda scared to try the paxil. oh, and about the ibs... and arbys... you have to remember that i rarley get appetite... and that actually was really good. and i havnt had bowel issues for 2 days now. so thats good. but for the most part im sticking to high fiber foods. thanks for writing.
Avatar n tn I also have the same symptoms and am scheduled to have my gallbladder removed but I want to try to be sure the pain is caused by the gallstones and not the IBS. My right sided pain lasts for days and I was told that gallstone attacks only last for a couple of hours. Please tell me how long you suffered with the pain and whether the removal of your gallbladder helped or not.
Avatar f tn After 3 struggling years I have accepted that my symptoms are IBS related, nausea, air in stomach, bloated with gas.. oh the gas and mucus... I am being careful with my diet, gave upsmoking, no booze and am limited with coffee, hypnotherapy etc. I am so tired all the time and can not gain the weight I have lost but am trying to take one day at a time. My GP has been very supportive and is trying me on different meds, which as of yet has not improved my day to day life but I live in hope.
358304 tn?1409709492 26 male. About three months ago I started having an anxiety spell. My main symptom was a nervous stomach and no appetite. About a few weeks after this I started getting diarhea and digestion issues. My dr said it's probably just IBS. So about a week after that I started getting a tight throat and a very sensitive gag reflex. Some days I couldn't barely talk without the urge to gag. Well after one night of actually gagging twice I couldn't handle it so I went back to the dr.
Avatar m tn Hi, last year I started having lots of health issues, prior to that I've always been pretty healty, exercising and eating healthy. I'm 41 years old and in March of 2010 I had brain surgery to clip an unruptured aneurysm. Then 3 months later I had a laparoscopic appendectomy. I also have prostate problems (chronic prostatitis) & stomach problems. And I have been diagnosed with IBS, GASTRITIS, DIVERTICULOSIS.
Avatar n tn I know I know...i have an issue with taking medication...but i've been suffering for 2 years...and these pvcs, pacs, etc...are causing me a lot of anxiety and it's ruining my life...i constantly think about it and it's driving me crazy...I took paxil 5 years ago..for 8 months and it changed my life....it really really helped me...and i didn't get one pvc....so i thought about going on it again...only at 10mg....and it's my fifth day...and i'm doing it very slowly...
Avatar m tn This continued for 2 months then I decreased the Paxil to 30mg and did not have any effects. This made me curious that the Paxil is not working. My questions are: 1. I would like to change to another SSRI or SNRI to see if this will make a difference. I was thinking Celexa. What is your opinion? 2. How would I switch medications. Could I take low doses of both at the same time or can I switch over all at once? 3. I am considering visual flooding.
358304 tn?1409709492 I took my paxil at 6pm last night for the first time (10mg). And with all this anxiety I've been having, I've been having a tight throat/ and a really sensitive gag reflex... and no appetite... and this gag reflex thing doesnt really help my appetite either. Well, lastnight I took the paxil at 6pm... and I thought it made me feel DROWSY as heck... then an hour went by and it seemed to ease up... but then I took a walk with my wife around the block, and when we got home...

Avatar n tn I have had anxiety for about 5 years. I was put on paxil for about a year then decided to quit. I always go from one thing to another and trying to always diagnose myself for the way i feel...such as testicular cancer never had a lump but thought i had it. I went to the doc 2 times to make sure i didnt have it. Im always worrying i have something. Now my stomach. It has had pain in it for about a month or so.
Avatar n tn I have had my gallbladder removed which was gangrene, appendix removed, hysterectomy and bladder sling, bilateral knee replacement, and foot surgery. I take the antidepressant Paxil and have been on it for 22 years. My current life style - go to work, come home and sleep.
358304 tn?1409709492 My dr. thought my change in bowel/digestion issues was just IBS caused my anxiety... and that my throat feeling was just anxiety too... I can say when I take a couple of ativan, I seem to relax more... and it's not too intense... but the feeling is usually there. I was just wondering if this could be GERD? And if there is a way I can see if it's GERD? Like taking Prilosec or something for a few days and see if the symptoms get better? My Dr. put me on Paxil 10mg.... and .
Avatar f tn This is my 10th day on paxil and I have woke up with a migraine every morning since I started taking it.....I usually just have headaches in the back of my neck and head from tension or the anxiety but since startng on paxil I take only 10 mgs at night and every morning around 4 or 5 I wake up with a headache so bad that nothing will get rid of it....its at my temples and the top of my head....
Avatar n tn For 5 years now I've been suffering from diarrhea and none of my drs can figure out why. We think it's just a bad case of IBS. Because of so many "close calls" while running to the washroom, I have developed a sever phobia of going anywhere for fear of losing bowel control. When I know I have to go anywhere for the day, I don't eat anything (and I mean ANYTHING) and take about 4 immodium pills.
Avatar m tn Do you find you have bowel problems similar to IBS for example. Once you get thrush symptoms like your tongue usually its already in your tummy. getting too much of this through your system can cause so many problems. Joint pain, headaches, tiredness etc. Google it!
Avatar f tn Hi Sparkle, It is well known that depression is caused by chemical changes in the brain. There are many things that - in my opinion - causes a depression to get worse. Problems will always exist in our lives. Life goes up and it goes down. The ability to deal with them is affected by our perception and how well we can deal with "one more issue". I wouldn't really say that IBS is a core reason for depression but it can sure make it more difficult to deal with other events in life.
Avatar n tn I'm having the SAME issues as you are! I do believe it's all mental. The brain is connected to EVERYTHING in the body. I started having anxiety 2 months ago really bad... i had a nervous stomach everyday almost, then I started to lose appetite... then that made me develop stomach/bowel issues... IBS is what my Dr. thinks I've developed.... then just about 2 weeks ago I started this gagging reflex thing... feels like I'm gonna gag all the time!
Avatar f tn I quit Paxil cold turkey without talking to my doctor and that was one of the hardest things that I've ever been through in my life!!! Find another doctor!!! I've heard that Effexor is even harder to come off of than Paxil. Good luck.
653138 tn?1258572904 I would avoid wheat entirely, it's pro-inflammatory. Brown rice, teff, quinoa, tons of good grains out there to eat, and yes, whole grains are the way to go, they have the fiber still on them which helps with IBS. I wouldn't take medication for IBS since it tends to repress acid, but your stomach just makes more in order to digest protein. Try drinking a few ounces of aloe juice every day and take digestive enzymes. If you crave meat, eat it, but only naturally raised.
Avatar f tn what is the proper way to taper back to paxil? 3. How unsafe is paxil with pregnancy and what other options do I have? HELP! I feel like I am losing my mind!!!!
Avatar f tn could be the cause of the sinus tachycardia so he recently switched me from Paxil to Lexapro. So the Paxil is now out of my system but I am still feeling the rapid heart beat. I know it's not dangerous since that is what the cardiologists have told me but I'm experiencing extreme anticipatory anxiety as to when my heart will speed up again and that something is going to happen to me, such as fainting or dying.
Avatar n tn Can I quit the paxil and take the klonopin 3 x a day as prescribed and safely get off Paxil. I am getting fat!
467977 tn?1262714747 I take Paxil and buspar on a daily basis. I used to only take the paxil, but I still had terrible anxiety in the morning. My doctor then added the buspar 2x a day. It helped me almost immediately. It took away that horrible nausea and anxiety by 90 % in the morning. Some people say that buspar isn't effective, but it has been very effective for me. I take Klonopin only on an as needed basis. (Which is very rarely). Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Hi I have been on paxil for nine years.. I am currently 25 and feel like the paxil isnt working for me.. I also had tried stopping paxil for four months cold turkey.. it was HORRIBLE.... so i went back on 10 mgs.. now ive been on 10 mg for 3 years.. I just switched to zoloft over night.. as a doctor reccomended.. I am worried I will have paxil withdrawls symptons.. I really hope I dont.. I am taking 50 mg of zoloft.. i have felt ok since and its been four days... hopefully it will be fine..
Avatar n tn s a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
