Paxil high

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil high

paxil

Avatar n tn I have been taking a very HIGH 120-150 mg Paxil which is twice the recommended dose. I came off cold turkey but immediately took Zoloft which is for anxiety also. I was taking 1000 mg just to feel half normal. I was still jumpy and jittery and had the worse migraine that you could ever know. It was excruciating!!! I mean my temp was up, I thought my brain was about to explode. My heart was racing. I was told that if I did not have the Zoloft that I would of died.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good anxiety drug other than Paxil, Effexor or Lexapro. I was on Paxil for years and it worked well for me but my doctor switched me to Lexapro which made me extremely sick as did Effexor. Anyway, now I am about to go back on Paxil because it was the only drug that really worked for me and didn't make me sick but I have one problem.
Avatar m tn Or did you quit recently and suddenly experience a lot of anxiety different from what you experienced before going on Paxil, which might indicate a withdrawal problem from the Paxil. Paxil is one of the most difficult meds to stop taking, and after one stops taking it has the reputation of not working again or one has to take a lot more than one took originally to get the same results.
Avatar f tn I had mine go up, too, though not that much on klonopin and Paxil, but I think it was the Paxil, because it caused me to gain a lot of weight. These drugs can slow metabolism, which can make digestion slow down. The important thing to do is to clarify here between good and bad cholesterol, and especially try and get the HDL (good stuff) up. Other than that, not sure how to counteract it.
983155 tn?1248700406 If I were you, if your psychiatrist recommended this course of action, meaning cold turkey on Paxil and then the high dosage of wellbutrin, I would probably look for another one. This one clearly doesn't do his homework. If you want the doctor to answer this second question, you'll have to put up another thread to him, he generally doesn't answer the same one twice.
1295419 tn?1276822872 Good morning-For anyone on Paxil (or any medication for anxiety) have you ever noticed small twitches in your legs? I have them which seems to have started around the same time that I started my Paxil. They aren't very noticeable but I assume I am being hyper-sensitive to all symptoms. Any input?
Avatar n tn I was on a high dose of Paxil. The only ache I had was a massive headache 24/7. Massive!! I went back on Paxil for two weeks and I'm off again but it's odd that I have no headache but I have the most horrible back pain. I never had this before starting Paxil. Last time coming off Paxil I nearly had a heart attack, I was admitted to the ER and given Benzos along with meds to reduce blood pressure and heart rate. I was only there 3 days but when I got home the withdrawal continued.
1035021 tn?1296820707 Hi there, I suffer of anxiety attacks and this was increasing my blood pressure very high, I went to see a cardiologist and he gave me XANAX for anxiety cause I wanted to know if this was the main cause of my high blood pressure episodes... At the same time my General Doctor gave me PAXIL for the same thing, telling me that this med was less addictive and will help me for panic attacks and anxiety long term.
Avatar n tn I have been stugglin with anxiety and depression for about ten years. I was on Paxil on and off since the ago of 16. I am now 23 and was recently prescribed Wellbutrin 50 mgs. I have been on it for about two months and I feel like I'm loosing my mind. My biggest fear is that I smell. People sniffle and I think that they are smelling me. I ask people and they swear to God that I don't smell at all. The meds make me sweat and because this new found fear I sweat even more.
Avatar f tn SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg. So is she weaning me off the Paxil along with the Cymbalta? And is this safe for a week of taking cymbalta 30mg and Paxil 20mg for a week?
Avatar m tn I have recently been weening myself off paxil and on to Wellbutrin. I have vertigo bad and its driving me nuts. What is causing this? and how can I make it stop?
Avatar f tn I am taking 30 mg of Paxil each morning. I like to drink wine or Martinis in the evening. I know you're not supposed to mix them but I have been. I seem to be fearless when on both. I have been texting and sending facebook messages telling people off. And it's been everyone from family to friends to people I disliked in high school. Sometimes I see comments next day and I don't remember doing that. Am I the only crazy one or has someone else had experience similar to this?
Avatar n tn She also said that dosage of the prozac was an entry level dose. So I went from a faily high dose of paxil (40 mg) to an entry level dose of prozac! She doubbled the prozac dose and asked me to give it another 3 weeks before deciding if I want to go back to the paxil or not. Now that I know the difficulty of going off paxil, if I successfully get off it I don't think I will want to go back to it.
Avatar n tn Thank you so much! Today I had a 99.6 fever and bad headaches that are some of the worse headaches that I've had. I've had some trembling in the hands. I'm sleeping well because of the Elavil I am on which is also for depression and neuropathy. It's helped a lot since she switched me. I'm on the highest dose of Zoloft and normally you start out lower. I will feel aweful in the morning and 30mins after taking the Zoloft I feel much better. So it is definitely helping.
Avatar f tn I was weened off of Effexor and now on Paxil 30mg. Sometimes during the day I get the shakes. I'm just wondering if anyone else gets shaky? I take an Xanex and then seem to feel better. Please tell me that sometimes this might just happen for no good reason.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much for your support. I'm going through a terrible time and am going to get back on the Paxil. I will start taking the Paxil tomorrow. Well, my psychiatrist is doing 10 mg of Lexapro for three days, then 5mg Lexapro/5mg Paxil for three days and then back to 10 mg Paxil. I pray to God that I will start feeling better once I'm back on the Paxil. I've been having constant every second panicky thoughts that I'm going to die or that I'm going to faint.
577118 tn?1233250750 I don't know if it's Paxil or the seizures. I didn't start having seizures until I was on Paxil for a little while, and I didn't have short term memory loss until after I started taking Paxil. It all correlates to the same time. I'm concerned because I have read other people having the same complaint about it. I am seeing a doctor this coming Monday, though, to find out for sure. I shouldn't have to be 22 years old with a worse memory than my grandmother.
Avatar m tn t work. Now I have been switched back to Paxil CR and I am currently on a new high of 37.5 milligrams for a week and a half and still don't feel that great. Is it usual to have a set back at every dose increase before it gets better? I have also only been off Lexapro for a week and a half as well so maybe there are some lasting effects from that even though I only took it for 8 weeks.
Avatar n tn Some seem to claim that Paxil may not work very well the second time around. Is this true? I came of paxil about 9 days ago substitiuting it for Prozac. I took Paxil for about 8 months and it worked well for anxiety but due to financial reasons wanted to try Prozac. However, I think Paxil is the one for me so I want to start taking it again. Is there any evidence to suggest it won't work for me as well as before?
Avatar n tn Paxil can be helpful, has a high side effect profile, and can be one of the toughest to get off of. Why does your doc want to put you on a third med? Give us a better explanation of what's going on so we can help more.
358304 tn?1409709492 After years and years (I am 34 but had issues since I was 16) my doctor put me on Paxil. I have to take the CR version since I high metabolize the regular version. It has helped greatly, but I am also resigned to the fact that I will probably be on it for the rest of my life. Keep up the great communication with your doctor! Together you will come to a solution that is right for you!
1035021 tn?1296820707 I've just got 5HTP caps, I already take paxil (20 mg daily) I'd like to know if I can take paxil and 5htp at the same time? Is this ok? I will really appreciate your information. Thanks!
