paxil

Avatar n tn I took Paxil for 4 years and expreienced headaches, drowsiness, heat rash, and some itching. I now take Lexapro instead and still have similar symptoms.
189269 tn?1189755825 I'm on Gabapentin also (for depression... Gab's a generic Neurontin) in combo with Paxil. I never noticed itching increase when she added Gab, but was kind of 'out of it' and bipolar like at the time. I asked about the itching and the doc said it was from the treatment (Pegasys/Ribavirin) drying out my skin so much. Got some relief by using lotion (Aveno baby - no added colors or perfumes).
Avatar f tn Hi, I am new to this forum. I am not on any medications for MS except anti-depresants. I have terible itching around my eyes and on the MS narcoms it has a question about it. Have any of you experienced this? And what do yo do about it?
10608291 tn?1411415602 I took them, for a very long time! ( I was on lamictal for 9 years, and paxil for 18 years) . I stopped taking them because I found out the paxil was giving me seizures for year. The dr never told me paxil can cause seizures she just sent me to a neurologist who put me on lamictal. Anyway, I don't even recognize some of the feeling that arrive. They are scary because I don't feel like myself, and I feel out of control. THe worst feeling come at night when I can't stay asleep.
Avatar f tn I've been on Paxil for 2 years, diagnosed with hypothyroidism 1 yr ago... Long story short, I'm trying to get off Paxil now, hoping that my depression was caused by thyroid. I weaned myself (doctor approved) down to 10 mg, doc said I should be fine to stop taking it... Now I am having SEVERE headaches and nausea. I don't want to get back on this med, and would prefer to suffer through withdrawals, however it's very difficult to function when I'm feeling this way.
5001974 tn?1362162155 Anxiety is a weird yet adventurous illness for anything you put in your head will happen undoubtably. I've suffered from the age of 19 and am now 35 and have had all types of hypochondriac ideas and feeling creep in my head from thinking I have heart issues to high blood pressure to thinking and googling all kind of illnesses.
Avatar f tn All together, I took paxil for 6 years. I decided to stop taking it because it kept me from concentrating and memorizing which is vital since I am in college to be a school teacher. In addition, I gained so much weight due to the medicine. My doctor helped me get off of the paxil which was a horrible experience that I never want to repeat again! Now my anxiety has come back and it is becoming worse. I tried lexapro and it didn't help.
Avatar f tn Hey, for me Paxil did the trick! It took awhile to kick in, but when it did, it worked great. I took 10mg for 6 months and then bumped it up to 20mg for another 6 months...currently on it still...trying to get off of it soon though...hope you find something that helps you.
Avatar m tn Always suspect the drug first. My mother had dozens of symptoms, a few that were serious and life threatening, and stopping one drug said goodbye to all of the symptoms she had suffered with for many years.
Avatar f tn Hi! I started paxil six weeks ago for anxiety. I started at 10 for the first week and then up to 20. At four weeks the doctor suggested I increase to 40 because I wasn't having any improvement. I didn't go all the way to 40mg, but I have felt better since going up to 30mg. Today, I have all my anxiety back. I was looking for some help/advice. I also take lorazapem in the mornings. Thank you!
Avatar m tn I have anxiety for no reason at all which baffles me and keeps my mind going nuts most of the time. For the better part of 10 years my issue was controlled through paxil or paxil cr and a little bit of Clonazepam. Over the past year, my anxiety has gotten much worse and paxil doesn't seem to work anymore like it did. Over the past 5 months I have come off of paxil, switched to Lexapro, switched back to Paxil CR upping my dose (50mg) to see if that would work.
Avatar f tn SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg. So is she weaning me off the Paxil along with the Cymbalta? And is this safe for a week of taking cymbalta 30mg and Paxil 20mg for a week?
Avatar m tn Hi! I have been taking Paxil for 20 years. I have recently been struggling w/ more intense anxiety and depression and irritability. I am switching from Paxil to Cymbalta, and am down from 30 mg of Paxil to 5 mg, and then up to 60 mg of Cymbalta. I feel like I am having a racing heart/palpitations. I am not sure if it's anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart.
18283265 tn?1463778032 Hi all. I am a 49 year old female who has been on paxil for almost 20 years. When pregnant with my first son, about 18 years ago, I weaned off it over a few weeks and did okay. Granted I had only been on it a few years at that time. Due to recurrence of anxiety I went back on it before he was born and have been on it every since. Was doing very well for years at a low dose of 10mg. Then in early 40s started feeling more anxiety which I think was related to hormonal changes.
Avatar f tn I have been on paxil for ten years and the last year and a half it has not worked like it use to. So my doctor started weaning me off paxil 50mg to 40mg for a week then 30mg for three days then 20mg of paxil at night with 25mg of zoloft also at night.I seen the doctor again today and now Im taking 50 mg of zoloft in the morning and 20mg of paxil at night. The reson that I have been on ssri"s is for terrible panic attacks with agoraphobia.
2065348 tn?1331075207 I took paxil for 6 years and it changed my life. I went off of it to try to get pregnant but got really depressed so had to get back on. Within 2 weeks I felt so much better and took away the derealization I was having to ( worst feeling in the world ) then when I found out was pregnant I got off paxil again.
Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil for over 6 years. Almost off of it and then went back up in dose only to have it not work for me. Started having weird side effects at 40mgs and started tapering down to get off it. Down to 7.5mgs after many months of hell! I have one Dr who wants me to take Klonopin and add lexapro to my paxil, titrating one up and one down till I am off Paxil.
Avatar m tn Severe anxiety, I just stopped reading these sites as there are only a horror stories of people who have been suffering for many years after discountinuation of Paxil use. As u mentioned I should not fall into this category for reason of being on Paxil for only 3 months (apr/15). I became severe anxious about month ago and that's why I would like to discountinue this nasty pill. Ryan, many thanks for the taper schedule of Clorazepate.
Avatar f tn Is there a way to take something to supplement the paxil, while at the same time weaning off the dosage of the paxil? Also, is it unrealistic to hope that something natural can keep his anxiety at bay as well as paxil can? He exercises a ton, so that can't be increased much more. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Avatar n tn I believe any doctor will tell you if you have depression, OTC uppers are not the solution. I used to take ephedrine and got addicted, also to caffeine at a different point in my life. These are addictive substances (besides the aspirin) and you can build a tolerance for ephedrine. Paxil didn't work for me either, but there are hundreds of other antidepressants out there to try, in different families of drugs than Paxil.
Avatar n tn It all started 17 yrs ago was placed on paxil for panick attacks and it seemed to work well. I eventually around a yr ago weaned myself down from 60 to 12.5 mg it was all fine. Recently I had a lot of stress in my life and it hit me hard panick and non stop outta control anxiety wouldn't stop. I went to my psy. Who I saw 17 yrs ago and he suggested we switch to lexapro so I did the crossover and the next night felt horrible. I called him crying he said u are having discontinuation symptoms.
190885 tn?1333025891 it made me real sleepy. My neighbor I found asleep in her car running from Paxil. I have heard that from a few different people about Paxil. Two of them I know switched to Zoloft and worked very well for them. Also with AD's it does take a month or so for your system to get used to them.
189269 tn?1189755825 There are other medications that can be used for pain/depression/anxiety, that are not so dangerous to the liver. For example, Paxil or Zoloft can take care of anxiety. How long have you had the itch?
