Paxil for anxiety attacks

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil for anxiety attacks

paxil

Avatar n tn Hello, I have been taking Paxil for 10 years. At first I started taking it because I had anxiety problems while eating. As soon as I started paxil these problems went away for the most part in a few weeks. A couple years later I started having panic attacks. I recently began seeing a psychiatrist who increased my dosage gradually from 20mg to 60mg. I really haven't noticed any difference though at all when going from 20mg to 60mg of paxil.
547002 tn?1219797376 this may not be the right med for you but for me it did stop the anxiety and panic attacks and helped my depression. talk to your dr. about increasing your dose. take care.
Avatar f tn Hi i have been taking paxil now for about two months for anxiety, at least i think its anxiety. I started having the attacks about 3 months ago. When these attacks happen i feel like i cant function, as much as i want to i cant do anything. About two weeks after i started taking paxil i started to feel great and just a couple days ago it started back up. Im just wondering what could bring this back, and is it normal for my medicine to just stop working like that. thanks.
Avatar n tn 5mg of Paxil for 6 weeks and it took a good month for me to feel back to my old self (without the panic attacks of course!). However, I did try Celexa years back and it made me feel extremely hyper. I could not sleep, I was not tired at all. I didn't like that so I talked to my pdoc and he switched me back to Paxil, which works best for me. If you don't want to wait to see if you level out after a few more weeks talk to your doctor and see if you can try something else....
Avatar n tn problems ever. After starting Paxil my attacks did not improve,so my PCP referred me to an Endocrinologist who after blood test (FSH LEVEL OF 54 I AM 46 YRS. OLD)confirmed that I had experienced severe symptoms due to" Estrogen Crash". My Periods were light and coming every 4 months. She said after 3 months or so I could wean of the Paxil, here I am .I am down to 2 1/2 mg. and am experiencing anxiety again although not as severe.
561921 tn?1216605621 Does anyone know what I could take for my anxiety, besides xanax, or other addictive meds? I have severe anxiety, with panic attacks, have had this problem for 9 years. I use to take xanax, which helped, but once you start taking this med, you have to stay on it, or wean very slowly. I currently am not taking anything, but anxiety is getting to the point I am going to have to take something. Panic attacks are starting to get really bad! I would appreciate any help form someone.
774736 tn?1311331385 I was diagnosed with GAD earlier this year and have gone through horrific panic attacks, agoraphobia, and many other anxiety related nightmares but lately Ive been struggling with sleep deprivation...Every day for the past couple months I have not been able to sleep at a reasonable hour...I have to completely exaust myself to finally get to sleep and before I do, I go through a period of feeling "under the influence", as if im drunk or high...

Avatar f tn I am currently taking 40 mg of Paxil for anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. My doctor has suggested we try to add a low dose of Wellbutrin to this. What can I expect from this combo? I have never taken wellbutrin before.
Avatar f tn From therapy to Zoloft from that to Prozac that was the worst one than to paxil. I have been on paxil for 7 years now and lately i feel like when i take my paxil it makes my panic attacks worse,i don't know whats going on.Also before my period starts it gets really bad.My doctor wants me to take xanax but I'm not taking this stuff.
Avatar f tn I started Paxil in December 2013 because I was having bad test anxiety and panic attacks because of my school work in college (presentations, assignments, etc.). I went on 10 mg of Paxil and it worked perfectly. I graduated in May 2015 and decided I wanted to go off of it mainly because I felt like I gained weight and didn't need it anymore. I started graduate school and a new job this August and my anxiety immediately came back, only 100 times worse.
467977 tn?1262714747 well it's been almost 6 weeks of 20 mg of paxil, and i *still* have this internal nervousness that sits in my stomach and up my throat. my question is, is the nervousness really anxiety? i take paxil for panic attacks, and haven't had an attack since march, so i know it's working. but i've been taking the klonopin to ease the "nervousness" after taking my paxil. should i be on a diff. medication than paxil?
1321537 tn?1274470517 What other medication are you on? Sometimes anti-depressants are taken for anxiety also--like the SSRI's. I take Paxil for my anxiety...and when I was getting used to it (usually takes about a month) I took clonazepam, so I have some experience with it. I originally went on medication after the birth of my 3rd child. I was having some severe post-partum anxiety with panic attacks. First we tried cipralex, and it never actually started working for me...
565874 tn?1234563591 Hello, I also have panic attacks/anxiety and was prescribed Paxil. I took it for 5 days and stopped as it made me feel horrible. I also have a friend who was on it for a year and strongly recommended not taking it. I would try taking natural supplements/vitamins before drugs. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the input, I was on prozac last spring, and had an awful reaction, it took a few doses of xanex and ativan to get me out of it, after hours in the ER.. I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and have for over 20 years. I was on ZOloft for 14 or so years and it pooped out on me the fall of 2013 and ever since looking for the same wonder drug zoloft gave me...
Avatar f tn I took Paxil for two days and the following morning after taking it the second time, I had a huge attack that landed me in the ER. I was told to stop Paxil immediately and start taking Wellbutrin but I am so freaked out by what happened that I am nervous.
Avatar n tn The anxiety was pretty mild, a little nervous at sometimes but omg the Zoloft was a MIRACLE (for me) and Elavil too. I was on a very high dose of Paxil. I think the anxiety/panic attacks, pain, etc would have been very bad cold turkey but would probably last only a week,,, two at the most. But I thought it would be longer from what I read but I'm back to normal now and have felt great for a few days.
1500294 tn?1290272209 has anyone experienced an anxiety attack for days?? ive lived with anxiety and panic for years and years, im 29 weeks pregnant and 29 years old... im having tingling thru my body, twitches all over my body (randomly)....and racing thoughts all for 4-5 days now. Im also a serious hypochondriac, so now i think i have MS, ALS, and other horrible diseases due to these symptoms ive been having.
1035021 tn?1296820707 T do it, cause PAXIL was really helping me for this disorder and more for panic attacks so I continue taking both meds, Paxil in the mourning and Xanax for sleep. Right now after like 5 months of being taking both I tried to go COLD TURKEY on Paxil but 5 days after that I started to feel this ZAPS inside my head and some strange electrical sensations all over my body, so I started again and feeling "well" back again.
Avatar f tn the doctoc said it was to stimulating. dose anyone have any suggestions on what will help for bad anxiety ???
Avatar f tn Anyone taking Paxil out there for anxiety attacks. I really don't want to take it but dr presc. because i'm taking xanax .25mg 4 times daily and wants me to switch to an antidepressant. I really don't want to because I tried Lexipro and really got a bad reaction. I don't want to be on medications and try to overcome this anxiety. Where do I go from here and why do I have to start an ssri? My other dr/family friend suggested to switch to klonopin.
Avatar n tn I too suffer from panic attacks, since I was 15. I have been taking 20 mg paxil for years and just recently the attacks came back and I felt out of control. Doc prescribed lorazepam and it helps! I HATE taking pills but its better then feeling anxious every SECOND. I also am in therapy and joined a local support group. I feel the same way you do, it hasn't affected me this bad in years. I struggle everyday but I am here! good luck my dear.
Avatar f tn First, why are you taking the Paxil? Why Paxil? For some people, a given antidepressant can be very stimulating, and can also cause personality changes and odd thoughts. This is said to be more common with young people, but can happen to anyone, and it's more common with, say, Prozac or the snris which are more stimulating than with Paxil, but you are the only you. Again, if anxiety isn't your problem, why are you taking Paxil? For depression?
Avatar m tn i feel like the shakes or tremours will never go away, i was on paxil over a year ago, weind off of the paxil, started an new job, it sent me for a whirlwind, my anxiety attacks came back more severe, along with the tremours, tried paxil again, didn't work, doctor put me on effor and hydrobenzine, still wake up with shakes, not as severe, the doctor says it will take time, and they said most likely i will be on med's for most of my life.
Avatar m tn For the pass 4 or 5 days now been having more panic attacks lately for no reason and I feel at times the paxil is working but I look back at the pill meaning the Paxil and say that it's not working on me only making it worse with attacks for me.
Avatar n tn I have been taking a very HIGH 120-150 mg Paxil which is twice the recommended dose. I came off cold turkey but immediately took Zoloft which is for anxiety also. I was taking 1000 mg just to feel half normal. I was still jumpy and jittery and had the worse migraine that you could ever know. It was excruciating!!! I mean my temp was up, I thought my brain was about to explode. My heart was racing. I was told that if I did not have the Zoloft that I would of died.
