5757880 tn?1395578022 Well, there is a genetic component to anxiety, and I would suspect that anxious parents could also create anxiety. But, I think, from all I have read that ADHD is the biggest cause as the person tries to cope with the ADHD. And frankly, if you were a part of it or not, doesn't matter. What does matter is that you are a part of helping him deal with it. In terms of your anxiety question. My go-to-guy for this is Dr. Charles Parker at Corepsyc.
Avatar f tn T7GOdb_evNo It looks like you are going to somehow try and find a psychiatrist that specializes in adult ADHD. The point is that you are not being treated for ADD, but for anxiety which the ADD could be causing (very common). The problem is - as "Crazy meds" points out - Paxil is difficult to stop. So you will definitely need someone who can help you in slowly cutting down. Heck, I have said this all before.

Avatar f tn //www.corepsych.com/2012/09/adhd-insights-prozac-paxil-ampehtamines/#ixzz2zs4XPoNT However, dr. Parker does recommend Celexa as it does not block the pathways for the stim meds. Point being that if you were taking Prozac or Paxil it would cause the mania. celexa should not. Avatar n tn I'm hoping someone here can help, perhaps a Ph.D. or someone with knowledge/experience of medicines-- I have been diagnosed ADHD since I was a little kid (early grade school) and diagnosed with social anxiety at 17yrs old (towards the end of high school). I've been on and off multiple medicines for both (I've been on 5-10 different drugs; see my personal feedback below on some of the meds if you are interested in that information). I also very much think I have OCD.
Avatar m tn 25 M, 6'1, 185 lbs, white, ADHD, Paxil 40mg + Caffeine ~ 200mg + Nicotine ~ 6mg My grandmother developed diabetes. In 2020 my Glucose level (from a COMPREHENSIVE METABOLIC PANEL, done for a routine physical) was 91 mg/dL, last month it was 105 mg/dL. The test mentions that a normal range is 65 - 99 mg/dL. Should I stop using nicotine gum to mitigate any risk to insulin function? This article states that nicotine gum decreases your body's insulin effectiveness...
Avatar n tn those increase in your emotions is normal for paxil. is the same doctor prescribing both meds? are you taking the paxil for depression? the vyvance could definitely also cause an increase in your irritation, anger and rage. i would definitely talk with your doctor.

944223 tn?1245869858 Dear men and women.I am a 27 year old male diagnosed with ADHD twice at two different hospitals. I went to hospitals because I knew I had some issue when I would lash out at people due to my impatientness among other things I knew really weren't me. I waited awhile because I wasnt sure if it was ptsd or not.But looking back, and having my Gifted/Talented teacher tell me i was the same in elementary, i knew it may have been add/adhd.
Avatar n tn The best resources I have found are the online forums (ADHD specific) and going to bookstores such as Borders and Barnes and Noble and taking about 10 books on ADHD to the cafe area and skimming them for a few hours. Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn HOWEVER, the PAXIL will become a problem. Dr. Charles Parker warns (page 72-75, New ADHD Medication Rules). Prozac or Paxil will block the 2D6 pipes and the “amphetamines accumulate, with resultant anger, rage, mind racing, sleep deprivation and subsequent lack of control.” It will take a bit of time for the stim meds to accumulate - so if you just recently started the adderall be really watchful for this. I would talk to your doc and get off the Praxil.
Avatar f tn t work, then you might have to go for OCD medication if you want her to continue taking the ADHD medication. Paxil works really good for OCD. I had a really bad case complete with obsessions of germs and chemicals to the extreme. About the ADHD medication all I can remember when i took it is that it gave me headaches. But I can see your reasoning, its given to her so she can focus and then she takes it to an extreme and becomes fixated on something like her fingers.
Avatar f tn I detoxed myself from opiate meds about a month ago and I thought things would get better. Nope. Now I feel very anxious and depressed. I also quit marijuana too. Avatar n tn My doctor recently put me on Paxil for my anxiety and Panic Attacks. I am 21 years old and have never been the type to take perscription drugs or otc drugs for that matter, so I'm not big on side effects and all that. I have been taking paxil for 4 days now and on day two I realized that I was yawning so much that my jaw was starting to hurt (yawn) I cant stop. Im really really tired and the yawning is getting quite annoying. Is this normal and when does It usually stop?
Avatar m tn This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily. It has been now one month and a half that I began reducing the dose and I am into my second week of not taking the drug at all.
Avatar n tn I was on paxil for 9 years. I was put on Buspar afetr two years because paxil was not longer working for me. However I had all the horrible side affects you had/ve. All these drugs are horrible to your body. You start one then the doctors put you on another one because the previous one was no longer strong enough.
983155 tn?1248700406 If your anger is a result of your anxiety, then it will help..otherwise, no.
Avatar n tn I honestly dont know but someone who maybe does will be on. Keep checking back as sometimes it is slow in here at this time. Keep checking back.
Avatar f tn is adderall being used for manic depressive/ bipolar disorder, especially when all other treatments have been ineffective even ect the persons mind is racing, foot is shaking, but body cannot get in action., like add of the mind.
219373 tn?1274921434 It sounds like you need to find a new psychiatrist. It is entirely possible for someone to have both valid autism spectrum disorder diagnoses and ADHD diagnoses. Additionally, there are no medications that treat "Asperger's." The medications treat the behavioral symptoms and, if you're seeing difficulties in concentration and focus, they exist. Look for a new psychiatrist who you work well with and who hears the concerns that you bring.
Avatar f tn I am including a pretty good link on the various meds for depression. By the way, this is an ADHD forum. If you do have adhd and are taking a stim medication there can be a strong reaction with either Prozac or Paxil. Let me know if this is what you were taking and I will send you the links on the problems these meds can cause when used with stim meds. the link is - http://healthlifeandstuff.com/depression/a-look-at-todays-treatment-options-for-depression/ I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn He has been seeing several medical professionals weekly for 6 months. He had terrible reactions to stimulant ADHD meds, thus bringing out the worsening OCD and anxiety issues. He has been doing OT, behavioral cognitive therapy, etc with minimal change in behavior. A few weeks ago he was started on Prozac and has since been taken off due to increased agression, agitation, restlessness, etc. They want to start him on another similar medication (works in the same way)...zoloft, or paxil.
Avatar f tn I had an appointment with my family doctor yesterday to discuss being tested for ADD/ADHD. This was not something just out of the blue. I have been going to the doctor for the past 4 years for the same kind of issues. Trouble concentrating, short temper, having to constantly be moving, trouble getting work accomplished and the list goes on and on. For the last 4 years that answer has been that I have depression. I have been on so many different antidepressants it's not even funny.
Avatar n tn Antidepressants can be used successfully to treat Dysautonomia. Though not everyone can tolerate them, and not everyone can benefit from them. They are not typically a first line of treatment, though they will ultimately come up in more difficult to treat patients. SSRI's and SNRI's are sometimes used in Dysautonomia because serotonin is one of the neurotransmitters used to govern autonomic control within the body. (MAOIs, TCAs, and other antidepressants aren't typically used.
Avatar f tn Started wellbutrin two weeks ago for anxiety and adhd. Most of the physical side effects have stopped, however, I am extremely emotional. Had a traumatic event happen and suicide crossed my mind and that has never happened. But works great foradhd and my anxiety. Is this an adjustment phase or should I switch?
