Avatar f tn Hi Pat! I know how you're feeling! I've dealt with depression for 20 some years. Don't suddenly stop the Paxil (I'm sure you know that) I finally found a new drug called Fetzima and its for depression and anxiety! You have lots of energy too! I took prozac for many years and then it just didn't work, so I'm very excited about Fetzima!! It's for major depression! Hope to hear back from you, and don't give up!
Avatar n tn Hello, I have been taking Paxil for 10 years. At first I started taking it because I had anxiety problems while eating. As soon as I started paxil these problems went away for the most part in a few weeks. A couple years later I started having panic attacks. I recently began seeing a psychiatrist who increased my dosage gradually from 20mg to 60mg. I really haven't noticed any difference though at all when going from 20mg to 60mg of paxil.
1422233 tn?1282701102 I went to my doctor today because my anxiety is kind of bad again. He upped my dosage of Paxil from 40mg to 60mg & gave me a prescription for Klonopin. The Klonopin is only as needed but he had me take one tonight to see how it would affect me, that went fine. Now I am nervous about upping my dosage of Paxil tomorrow. I am going to take 40mg in the morning & 20mg in the afternoon, as that is what my Dr. suggested.
1422233 tn?1282701102 Prozac is probably better for depression generally than it is for anxiety, and Paxil for whatever reason is very strong, probably because it also has a strong effect on choline receptors.
Avatar f tn What medication can I speak to my Dr. about to help me with chronic fatigue? I was prescribed a "starting dose" of Paxil 10 mgs 7 days ago for severe depression, and .5mg Xanax 3x a day for anxiety as needed. Pretty much only using the Xanax at night if i have trouble sleeping because during the day it makes me too sleepy.
Avatar n tn i have an aunt that was suffering from anxiety an depression for a hole year with out any meds. she start using paxil for six months, now she is off of it now for seven months without any anxiety or depression symptoms. i was thinking of switching from xanax to paxil but my dr said the xanax is working so for so dont change as yet. but everything dosent work the same for everybody but you can try it knowing it works for depression.
983155 tn?1248700406 I get really angry over nothing and I am really dizzy. Is that alot for me to take of wellbutrin to start of .. Is it the paxil wiithdrawls?? Is it the welbutrin?? Help!!
Avatar f tn Well, so much for my little plan of using only Clonazepam to get off Paxil. I did well with it for about 3 weeks, while tapering off Paxil. My anxiety was much better, but then I started to feel depressed....deeply. So I have started on the Lexapro (2.5) and will go up on that while coming down off Paxil. I will still take the .25 Clonazepam until I am done with my transition and hopefully get off Clonaz. when I am all settled. Anyone else have this side effect with clonazepam / klonopin?
1452588 tn?1285086427 Absolutely! For four years I took Wellbutrin for depression. In 1999 all heck broke loose when I became agitated, nervous and grandiose.. I was hospitalized in a day program for four weeks, That's when my psychiatrist gave me Bipolar II Disorder diagnosis. I stayed on Wellbutrin at a lower dose, and a mood stabilizer and anti-psychotic were added to the mix. I've learned through the years that for no apparent reason, a med can stop working.
Avatar m tn My husband is taking Paxil (40 mg) per day for his depression which exhibits itself by him being angry and irritated by the least little thing. He over-reacts on small situations and immediately gets angry and yells. This, of course, causes a severe strain on our marriage, since I am usually the object of his anger. Is Paxil the best depression medication for this condition? He has tried just about everything else and only Paxil seems to work (somewhat) for him.
Avatar m tn They're both in the same class of drugs, and pretty much treat the same symptoms. Paxil is a newer medication, and if the dosage isn't working you may need to have your doctor increase it. Prozac is an old drug and I think the newer ones come with fewer side effects. It's best to discuss this with your doctor since he is aware of what will best suit your needs.
1891512 tn?1321134099 I'm considering using either 5-HTP, St. John's Wort or a type of homeopathic or another type of herbal or natural remedy for my depression instead of paxil. I've been on paxil for over 10 years now, on and off, and right now I'm in a major depression relapse. I was majorly depressed as a teen and the depression has come back full force. The paxil helps a little bit but it just isn't helping enough. Has anyone tried these or any other natural remedies?
Avatar m tn I AM A FEMALE AGE 42. I HAVE BEEN TAKING PAXIL FOR 13 YEARS. I AM CURRENTLY WEENING OFF PAXIL. HOW LONG DOES THE WITHDRAWAL LAST AFTER YOUR LAST DOSE. I AM WONDERING WILLTHE DEPERSONALIZATION GO AWAY WHEN IM DONE GOING THROUGH WITHDRAW..
Avatar f tn hi all. I've been on anxiety/depression meds for two years now. lately it seems my depression is getting worse. I lost my only child, a son, nearly two years ago. if my problems had started then, I could understand, but started before that and only got worse. I've had the Paxil dosage increased once already and wondering if I should get it increased again, or try something different. any thoughts?
398624 tn?1266269449 I ask because that could have a lot to do with the medication you try. There is a young man on the anxiety forum.....RCA7591 aka Ryan, who is studying medicine and devotes some of his time there. He has said often that the DOMINANT problem should be addressed. For example: I thought I suffered from depression since childhood, but AD's have never worked for me.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with depression and anxiety since before I was diagnosed at 16 (I am 34 now). I have been on many different medications before I found that Paxil CR works for me. I can't take the regular Paxil because I burn up the medication in my system and it doesn't do any good, hence the Control Release version. Paxil is difficult to get off of once you are on it.
Avatar n tn those increase in your emotions is normal for paxil. is the same doctor prescribing both meds? are you taking the paxil for depression? the vyvance could definitely also cause an increase in your irritation, anger and rage. i would definitely talk with your doctor.
Avatar f tn I'm sure this is something I should ask my doctor, but I figured there are many knowledgable people on this forum so... I really feel that I need to be on medication but my anxiety over-rides my rational thinking -- it's like I'm too anxious about the (possible) side-effects to take something that could provide some relief. I have a prescription for Paxil, which I've taken in the past, and was wondering if it would provide some benefit if I only took it every other day???
Avatar f tn m the one fighting depression. For men, its almost always an issue of pride and insecurity. For you and him, he needs to address this issue.
Avatar m tn i am currently on 10mg/day of Generic Paxil for anxiety, depression, and OCD. i wish to supplement with 5-HTP, SAMe, GABA, and inositol. should i wean myself off paxil first? if so, how should i do that? or can i combine the Paxil with 1 or more of these supplemtns at the same time? if so, how should i do that? could i take Paxil 1 day, then supplements the next day (w/o Paxil), etc.
Avatar f tn s approval weaned myself off of Paxil 20mg. I had been on it for postpartum depression and just came to rely on it. I weaned myself in March, very slowly.....but then very slowly, the symptoms all came back with anxiety worse than ever. I started on Zoloft, just the minimal dosage, but also knew how well the Paxil had worked for me and after a week on the zoloft and not feeling better I switched right over to the Paxil.
Avatar n tn Effexor is for anxiety and depression. My Dr. might try me on it. Right now he's got me on Paxil 10mg and I'm not seeing too much of a change on it. If you liked Effexor, had no side effects, and had no problem coming off... (which, you should always wean, even if you didnt have any problems stopping cold turkey), then talk to your Dr. about getting back on it. That is if you are having anxiety again. Don't just take it b/c you want to lose more weight. Hope this helped.
Avatar m tn I have read that adding wellbutrin can help with both weight gain and sexual problems, but it is stimulating so you have to watch your anxiety. You're also on a high dosage of Paxil -- do you need that much? Not that a lower dosage will necessarily help as to the side effects. I also couldn't eat much when coming off Paxil, but it was because of the difficulties so many have coming off this med.
Avatar f tn I had several periods of anxiety and depression in my 20s and was prescribed Paxil. I went on it and off it several times (which I believe led to the multiple relapse episodes) so in 2008 I committed to staying on 30mg for life. I was completely symptom free from anxiety and depression from July 2008 until Jan 8, 2017! I’ve been under a lot of stress after having several surgeries and losing some mobility. I woke up on Jan 8th with a minor panic attack, and it has just continued.
1773104 tn?1314155711 I have been on Zoloft (as well as the generic, sertraline) with really good success. When you took the Paxil, how long did you take it for? For me, I was initially VERY nervous about taking any form of medication, but in the long run it has really helped me deal with the anxiety. For me, I did notice an uptick in my anxiety whenever I started, stopped or adjusted the dosage of an SSRI like Zoloft. I think it was probably two-fold.
Avatar n tn I have been on Paxil for 20years I was just prescribed. Remron do I need to wean off paxil.
