Paxil cr how long does it take to work

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil cr how long does it take to work

paxil

Avatar m tn I am 3 weeks back on Paxil after a failed attempt to switch medications to Lexapro. I have read a lot that Paxil loses its effectiveness after the first time. I (stupidly) have started, stopped & restarted Paxil on several different occasions and it always has seemed to work. I was on paxil 20mg originally then stopped cold turkey and went back on at Paxil CR 12.5. Upped dose over time to Paxil CR 25mg.
467977 tn?1262714747 Has the nervousness decreased ANY since you began? If it hasn't, I would talk to my doctor, but Paxil can take a fairly long time to reach it's therapeutic level, so I'd give it a while longer. Don't know about switching to the CR. That's something you need to discuss with your doc. I'd sure wait until you see how you do on the regular stuff first. Hang in there a little bit longer g/f................
Avatar n tn m a little nervous to do this because its only day 7...How long should it take to feel the full effects of Zoloft? Should I wait it out 2 weeks on 50mg before upping? Thanks.
Avatar n tn the doctor said for every year you r on paxil then thats how many months it takes to wean off safely and without any withdrawls. so i was on paxil for three yrs and it took three months to wean and i was fine. he also gave me clonapin to help during that pocess cuz he dsaid i would have ups and down while weaning. you've been on it for 7 yrs so it should take you 7 months to wean. you wean too fast.....you go through hell.
Avatar m tn to me and a friend of mine who also tried it, Paxil CR didn't work nearly as well as regular paxil. I gave Paxil CR about 8 months, and it never got better.
Avatar m tn I assume I only take half because of the Lexapro still in my system? There were no instructions to wait taking the Paxil, so it should be alright to take the half a pill tomorrow? She also gave me Ambien CR instead, which is pricey. With my 10% copay it was 18.00 for 30..... 6 bucks a pill if the total is 180.00.
Avatar f tn There are lots of people who take it successfully and also are able to come off of it successfully, but just like with anything else, those who do have difficulty are more likely to discuss it online, so we don't hear of the positive stories so much.
Avatar m tn I would suggest taking it at a different time. For one thing, it's not so good to go to bed right after eating, so snacking at bedtime isn't a great idea. You can also divide the dose -- that's what I had to do on Paxil because it was so sedating. Never had nausea from it, but you should know that these meds use the same pathway into the brain as magnesium and so can leach magnesium out of your body. That might be the problem, might not.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking my Paxil CR 25mg approx 3 weeks ago due to loss of insurance and job. I had been taking them for over 2 years and before that I took other anti-depressants for several years. Since stopping the pills I have been experiencing insomnia and "dizzy spells". The spells last about 1 second, can occur when I take a deep breath, or move my eyes fast, among other reasons, and happen 50+ times per day. I feel this is a direct effect from stopping the pills.
Avatar n tn They usually start right away within a day or two but some people do not have withdrawal symptoms at all and you may be one of the lucky ones. If you do have symptoms you might consider a slower withdrawal over a three-week period before you stop.
Avatar n tn I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch. Zoloft seems to work very similar to paxil at least it did for me.
Avatar m tn The Zoloft dose seems to be pretty close to the Paxil dose, although due to all of these meds varying in mechanism of action, it is impossible to find a perfect dose to start at with the new med....for each individual person. I think breaking up the Zoloft dose like he did will be helpful to you as well. There is no way we would be able to tell you what dose your doctor will Rx you, that is something you need to discuss with him.
Avatar n tn I have recently switched from paxil to prozac because of weight gain my doc told me to just stop taking the paxil and take 1 pill of the prozac for 6 days then take to full dose after 6 days everything was going go until the 5 day of taking the prozac now i am have anxiety attacks and i just feel so out of it i was just wondering if it was just withdrawls from the paxil or has the prozac even had time to kick in yet just tired of feeling so down and out.
Avatar n tn t beleive it took me so long to make the connection between the paxil cr and being tired. It just kind of crept up on me...sometimes I would feel drugged, it reminded me of when I was in the hospital after major surgery and I was just floating, like if I never moved a muscle again I would be fine with that. I can't beleive I never even thought to blame the paxil cr for that.
Avatar m tn After a failed attempt to fix my anxiety and subsequent depression that has come from it over the last 14 weeks with Lexapro and Paxil, my psych is switching me too Remeron (Mirtazapine) 30mgs. I started my first dose last night and already started my taper down of Paxil CR 50mg to Paxil CR 37.5 and hold there for a week. I also take Clonazepam 1mg at night to help me sleep due to the paxil. And I take Clonazepam .25mg dissolvable tablets during the day as needed for anxiety.
Avatar f tn My doctor is basically leaving it up to me as to what I want to take for my anxiety. I need help as to the best anxiety medicine to take that won't make my symtoms worse. Can you give me some suggestions?
1512520 tn?1290258130 Well have gone to the doc and he has given me a 50 mg 2x daily of Topamax to take with the Paxil CR. I am going to take just the Topamax for a month or so hoping to drop some of the weight gained then start back on the Paxil CR. I will continue to update as I know there are others out there who are in the same boat! p.s. its quiet expensive if you dont have insurance coverage and from other posts the generic versions arent the same.
Avatar f tn Please if you have taken it give me your experience. I have had bad anxiety and panic attacks for about 2 months now. I have had a rx for paxil that I have not taken. I'm really debating whether to take it or not. I have read online bad and good reviews. The doc told me it would take a week or two to work and that I might feel more anxious at first. He told me that can start with half a pill a day and see how I feel.
Avatar m tn I can't seem to break out of my funk. I'm going on 11 years of GAD that have been relatively taken care of until the past few months. I have taken paxil and paxil cr over the years and it has worked great, even when I cut cold turkey and went through nasty withdrawals. I could always count on it working when I went back on. Fastforward to today.... I am starting week #5 of paxil cr (week 1 = paxil cr 12.5, week 2 = paxil cr 25, week 3- current = paxil 37.
Avatar f tn how long b4 paxil kicks in.
Avatar n tn Tapering should always occur under direct supervision of a doctor. It depends on how long u have been on the drug, if u are on other meds, etc. General rule is tapering should occur over a time of 3 - 4 weeks, decreasing the dosage by 1/3 - 1/4 each week until the drug is stopped.
Avatar m tn and then 12mg every 2nd day and then 7.5mg . paxil CR just comes in 25,12.5 and 7.5 mg. please advise if this is the right way and how to overcome side effects and what other medication need to take. how long these withdrawl side effects persist?

Avatar m tn Since the Lexapro didn't work for you, it could be like starting over, and you need to give the Paxil more time to build up in your system (4-6 weeks). It could be your body adjusting to the switch. I think it's both, along with all the switching around of medications. Within a few weeks you should start to feel better. If you are ever really concerned about anything with your medication, call your doctor.
Avatar f tn Please give me your comments that will seroxat cr help? Anyone having good experience on it please tell. How much time would it take to adjust and make me feel normal?
Avatar m tn Over the course of the last 3 months I have went from Paxil CR 25 to Lexapro (which didn't work) back to Paxil CR 25. Paxil has always worked for me. I have noticed an increase in anxiety over the last few months which led me to look into changing medications fearing "poop out" had set in with Paxil CR. I was on Paxil CR 25mg and now it looks like once I get the last bit of Lexapro 5mg out of my system I will probably be bumped up to Paxil CR 37.5.
Avatar m tn I am a healthy 34 year old male that is in good shape, work out regularly, and have never drank, smoked or done any drugs. The one thing I do have is an anxiety order. Generalized Anxiety to be exact. I have anxiety for no reason at all which baffles me and keeps my mind going nuts most of the time. For the better part of 10 years my issue was controlled through paxil or paxil cr and a little bit of Clonazepam.
