Paxil contraindications

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil contraindications

paxil

Avatar f tn You could look up Paxil online but choose a reputable site like Merck or look for a Physicians Desk Reference site. Look for the section that offers contraindications. There they list all the reasons a person should not take it - due to other health problems or if they're taking certain other medications.
Avatar f tn Your profile says you're from the US, and this drug isn't used all that much here. So if you don't get a lot of responses, that's why. It's used mostly in Europe, due partly to a quirk in its initial development. It just didn't apply for US approval for a long time, and didn't market it here very much when it was new.

Avatar n tn There are no contraindications to taking the medications listed together. Synthroid has an interesting history. It is a "brand name" and the composition of the product has changed several times since it's introduction. The B12 supplement should be sublingual with folic acid.
11083698 tn?1415151204 Second that. It should go easily, as you haven't been on Effexor very long, but this along with Paxil is the most difficult med to stop taking. Always better to quit this one if you're going to sooner rather than later. So to be safe I'd taper off before starting the Celexa so you know if any reactions you get are withdrawal from the Effexor rather than start-up side effects of the Celexa. But again, after only 4 weeks, this should be easy.
Avatar m tn If you read the indications and contraindications for Lexapro , you will note that this SSRI can--rarely--cause either high OR low blood pressure, as well as many other side effects. SSRIs that are better known for causing hypertension are Buproprion (Wellbutrin, Zyban), Venlafaxine (Effexor), and Phenelzine (Nardil): http://highbloodpressure.about.com/od/lifeafterdiagnosis/a/antidepressants.
Avatar f tn The diazepam shouldn't conflict, although if you're getting more anxious you might want to stop the rhodiola and see if it's the problem -- it can be stimulating. You want to stimulate for depression, but not for anxiety. You might try substituting ashwagandha and eleuthero, two other adaptogens, and compare results. They're not as stimulating as rhodiola. Still, none of these target GABA, which is what the diazepam is targeting.
Avatar n tn Why was it suggested? Who suggested it to you? This supplement seems like it's designed for bodybuilders. It's not regulated by the FDA, so a pharmacist may not have information on contraindications. Still, a call to your Copaxone pharmacy as well as your PCP are in order.

Avatar f tn I would say if your doctor prescribed them because your blood was sticky he/she has weighed the benefits vs risk. Does the doctor know about your condition?

Avatar f tn Well the doctor prescribed me something and when I got home I found out it was an antidepressent (PAXIL )... I will be honest my grandma in Cincinnati has given me klodipin and xanax before and it really helped me. I am wondering how to get your doctor to put you on this kind of medication. Do you just have to ask, or what? I really could use some input here. New to the area, and stuck... I live in Corbin area. Thank you in advance for your time and help!
Avatar m tn You probably shouldn't take this with anything -- it isn't a very clean product. Contains some things in the inactive department that aren't good to take, such as talc and certain preservatives and sugar. It's basically hops, valerian and gentian, and you can get much purer versions of these if you stick to the better herb companies rather than television and internet marketers.
Avatar f tn You can look this up by googling saffron and its contraindications. You can also manage this stuff by buying a good herbal -- Prescription for Nutritional Healing and its companion Prescription for Herbal Healing are pretty good places to start. If you Google citalopram, it will also list contraindications, and some sites will have herbs as well. I don't know that saffron will be listed, though, as it's not been as commonly used as many others.
Avatar n tn Yes! I knew benzos prevented some kind of learning. I'm somehow magically withdrawing from Cymbalta (after 7 days of being on it...???) and I'm pretty sure the Klonopin isn't doing much considering my nerves are through the roof the past few days. The WD rebound anxiety is pretty strong. Effexor made me jittery the first four days or so - most stimulation AD to date - but I ended up feeling really numb on it, which definitely took the edge off of going from 1mg to .75mg of Klonopin.

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

Avatar f tn could be the cause of the sinus tachycardia so he recently switched me from Paxil to Lexapro. So the Paxil is now out of my system but I am still feeling the rapid heart beat. I know it's not dangerous since that is what the cardiologists have told me but I'm experiencing extreme anticipatory anxiety as to when my heart will speed up again and that something is going to happen to me, such as fainting or dying.
Avatar n tn Can I quit the paxil and take the klonopin 3 x a day as prescribed and safely get off Paxil. I am getting fat!
