Common Questions and Answers about Paxil anxiety

paxil

Avatar f tn I was on paxil for almost 10 years - 20 mgs for anxiety. After another bout with anxiety the dr. upped to 40 and it worked fine, but I gained so much weight that I asked to be taken off. I was put on zoloft 50 mgs. I was fine for 2 years on 50 mgs but then got another bout with anxiety. I was bumped up to 100 mgs and within 3 weeks, I was fine. Now six months after I was bumped up to 100 mgs. I have it again. The Dr. has bumped it up to 125 and if that doesn't work, 150mgs.
Avatar f tn My doctor just raised (yesterday) my Paxil to 37.5. Also in the mornings 99% of the time I have dry heaves. Usually I feel moderately better after eating something easy to digest. Today I am still drying heaving and bile is coming up. Is this dangerous?
Avatar f tn Im on Paxil for two months now for anxiety and im on the 40mg. strength and i still feel somewhat anxious should i have the mgs. changed?
Avatar n tn Right now I feel I can manage my anxiety without taking anything extra. When my anxiety becomes bothersome I drink Kava tea and take a hot bath. When I was suffering from debilitating panic disorder years ago, I took the lorezapam once or twice a day until the Paxil kicked in. My panic attacks this time around were benign compared to those of years ago. The 12.5mg of PaxilCR has done wonders for me.
1321537 tn?1274470517 What other medication are you on? Sometimes anti-depressants are taken for anxiety also--like the SSRI's. I take Paxil for my anxiety...and when I was getting used to it (usually takes about a month) I took clonazepam, so I have some experience with it. I originally went on medication after the birth of my 3rd child. I was having some severe post-partum anxiety with panic attacks. First we tried cipralex, and it never actually started working for me...
Avatar n tn I have been on paxil for about 2 months now, and have had no appetiite nor cant keep anything in my system...I have also been very out of it...I have stopped taking it a few days ago and now cant move...now for the good part of the day also developed a serious migrane headach...should I go to the ER?
Avatar m tn heart papitation, shacking all over the body, muscle twitches, not able to sleep, I got enought and i went back to regular doctor and gave me 10 mg generic Paxil and taled me that I am suffering for high anxiety ( common on i know that). After the first soe of medication i have a panic attact right away, afre all week of suffering i came back to my old doctor who described teh paxil in the begging . He changed the Paxil to CR 12.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good anxiety drug other than Paxil, Effexor or Lexapro. I was on Paxil for years and it worked well for me but my doctor switched me to Lexapro which made me extremely sick as did Effexor. Anyway, now I am about to go back on Paxil because it was the only drug that really worked for me and didn't make me sick but I have one problem.
Avatar n tn thanks to you for your insight. I ended up switching from Paxil CR 25 to Paxil 20 (gneric),which surprisingly my insurance pays for. I made the switch today with no adverse things happening, although I know it could be delayed. The goal at this point is to taper off the paxil 20, then get onto prozac. Although maybe I will just stay on the paxil if it keeps going well. The Paxil Cr has been great for me, but inusrance doesn't pay any of it, not even for generic.
467977 tn?1262714747 Hi there... The "internal nervousness" you are feeling very well COULD be anxiety...but it could also be the Paxil as well. Most SSRI's cause an initial increase in anxiety, and a "jittery" feeling, but usually it starts to subside after the first week or two. Did you notice the nervousness starting AFTER you started the Paxil, or was it there prior? If it started after, have you noticed ANY improvement in it since you first started the Paxil?
Avatar f tn s anxiety does not yet sound like mania, but it is a state of excitement like mania, so given that, yes, the paxil may be contributing to his anxiety. You will have to go back to your doctor and ask him to help with the withdrawals of paxil, if that is the decision, and if so, to do it over a three week period....and use the clonopin at night to help maintain sleep and cover some of the anxiety during the day.
Avatar n tn She said after 3 months or so I could wean of the Paxil, here I am .I am down to 2 1/2 mg. and am experiencing anxiety again although not as severe. My question is,aren't the hormones suppose to take away the symptoms because my estrogen is being replaced? Please help,I don't ever want to feel like I had before again,it frightens me.
Avatar n tn What other meds have you taken for anxiety? Even though Paxil is an antidepressant, for you, it is being prescribed for anxiety, which is very common. SSRI antidepressants are first line treatments for anxiety. I know it can be scary, but with patience and perserverence, like lydia explained, one can have great success with these meds. Sadly, too many people go into it with too many preconcevied notions and worries and never give it a chance. It sounds like that is what happened with you.
Avatar m tn Has anyone experienced an increase in anxiety as you first started taking Paxil? It was under control with bupropion and lamictal but I still did not feel like the depression was lifted. doc suggested going off of bupropion and switch to paxil. It has been 11 days. still taking the bupropion 150 and lamictal 100 but have had to start taking a lot more klonopin because to the rise in anxiety and I don't like taking this.
Avatar n tn I first tried Paxil (high school) and that worked pretty good for the social anxiety. I was taken off of Paxil after 1-2yrs. 2-3 years later I started voicing my problems again with anxiety and I was put on Zoloft (college). After several months, Zoloft was still not working and was stopped. My doctor suggested going back on Paxil (post-college). So I started Paxil again, however, the Paxil had no effect this time around (I guess I used my one and only "get out of jail free" card!!).
Avatar f tn I am down to Paxil 10 mg (weaning due to horrible withdrawal), and after about 3 weeks on this dose feel symptoms of my depression/anxiety coming back - lack of motivation, feeling melancholy, focusing too much on the negative, anxiety, etc... I do not want to go back up on the Paxil as it has been so hard to come off of. There are so MANY depression/anxiety meds that I do not even know where to begin to decide which might be a good alternative. Any suggestions???
Avatar m tn How much anxiety affects the immune system is up to you. If you take good care of your body and replenish what you lose through anxiety with supplements and good food, your immune system will be fine. If you don't, then yes, it can be affected, but no matter how strong an immune system, nobody's immune from getting something sometime. We all die eventually, we all get sick sometimes, even people without anxiety.
Avatar f tn Lately I have been having chest pains in the left side of my chest. Sometimes they are bothersome and very achy, other times they are combined with a piercing pain. Also, I feel as if my heart palpitates, or has an irregular beat a few times a day. I have gone to the doctor who ran tests (including an EKG) all of which came out "perfect". I should add that I do have anxiety, am a constant worrier and am 25 years old.
Avatar f tn Its been 1 week that ive been taking Paxil for my anxiety attacks, I took my 7th one before I went to bed tonight. The past 4 nights i've been waking up with that sensation that I cant breathe and lye there awake for hours. Its like this all day, its more severe when I wake up, before I go to bed and during the night when I wake up to this like right now. During the day even when im able to relax a little more then usual I have chest pains constantly, mostly on the left mid side.
467977 tn?1262714747 Paxil and BuSpar are often used together...Paxil more so for depression and then the BuSpar to help with the remaining anxiety that Paxil may not take care of, if that makes sense. It can take a few weeks for BuSpar to take full effect and is not used on an as-needed basis. Klonopin is faster acting, much like Ativan is. It gets in your system faster and leaves your system faster than BuSpar and is used often to take the edge off when introducing a med like Paxil.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was going to take Paxil for OCD and anxiety on HIV. How helpful is it? what are the side effects?
1422233 tn?1282701102 This question could also qualify as a depression one so I hope it's ok to post it here. I'm a 22 year old female & have anxiety, depression, & OCD. I have been on Paxil (the generic brand) for about three years now. A couple of weeks ago I started to feel like it wasn't working for me anymore. I can feel the anxiety & I get down. It's not as bad as before I was on the Paxil, but I think I need a change. I have a Doctors' appointment this week.
Avatar f tn Ditto! Paxil pretty much helped with my anxiety which was why I was prescribed it by my Dr. But after 6 years it peetered out and I thought that I could stop and be fine, wrong. After a month I was a wreck and I am not sure if my body was so used to the drug or I was really depressed.
Avatar m tn I had been taking Paxil for over 10 years. Worked beautiful for anxiety attacks. I asked to switch to Cymbalta due to arthritis pain. Thought it would work for both anxiety and pain. It worked for pain but not anxiety. Switched back to paxil and all the pain came back. Now I wonder if I can take cymbalta and paxil but have not asked dr. yet. Does anyone know?
