1722607 tn?1335747858 Side effects of SSRIs are insomnia, weight gain and sexual dysfunction, while the side effects of SNRIs are stomach upset, headaches and sexual dysfunction. Helpguide.org notes that withdrawal can be an issue if the medication is discontinued too quickly. Actually, my sister has panic attacks and a lot of anxiety and she uses Buspar (which has worked very well for her). People are different so each person has to find the medication that works best for that person.
Avatar m tn Wellbutrin, the brand name of bupropion, had the lowest overall rate of sexual dysfunction. It was associated with a rate of 22% of the overall population. The sustained release formulation fared almost as well with a rate of 25%. In contrast, the SSRIs (Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft and Celexa), venlafaxine (Effexor) and mirtazapine (Remeron) averaged about 40%. When subjects were removed who had other probable causes of sexual dysfunction, the results were even better.
Avatar f tn I take these two meds, why?
Avatar m tn I took it before and it stopped working, so went with natural stuff and was having issues with xanax taking effect and doctor told me to stop St Johns Warts and go back on paxil but still can take Vitamin B and D...
Avatar n tn Hi. I was wondering if anyone else experienced sexual dysfunction that did not go away years after taking a certain psyche med. For me it was Paxil and Zyprexa. I also want to know if it could be caused by a hormonal imbalance. I am a 28 year old female and have not had any libido or sexual pleasure since I was 17. I have low mood, lethargy and apathy. Sometimes I think that my mood problems might be a result of not having any libido or vice versa.
Avatar f tn Now, sometimes combining wellbutrin with an ssri such as Paxil will be done because that can help with the weight gain and sexual dysfunction problems, but quitting Paxil to go on wellbutrin is not likely to help with anxiety -- depression, maybe, but not anxiety because, again, wellbutrin is very stimulating. If this were me, I'd not take the Wellbutrin, stop the whole process, and get a psychiatrist before I proceeded further if your doc isn't one.
Avatar f tn When it hurts I try to tolerate it so I can please him. But he is a horn dog and pushy. Then it came to a point, I started reducing sexual activity. I would tell him I'm having an outbreak and didn't want to fool around. he would say it doesn't matter cause he has herpes too. This went on for a lonnng time. I would explain my concerns and he would blow me off. We have many arguments about this and I am at my end, enough to end this relationship.
Avatar n tn Till I was 60yrs my libido was fantastic and I was enjoying my sex fully.Suddenly after that I could see I loosing interest in sexual activity. My erection is fine and normally erected in the early morning.I am not getting the erge or impulse to initiate the sexual game.My wife is also quite frustrated but quite understanding. Avatar n tn So I have been sexual active since I was 17+ and I am 25 now and I have never felt ant sexual please or have an orgasm. Even though I am pregnant I was hoping that maybe due to the hormonal changes I'd at least have an increase but absolutely nothing I can literally go years without sex, I use to feel horny but not anymore Idk what's going on with it and I find it disgusting and embarrassing to tel this doc this kinda situation at my age.
Avatar f tn I have sought answers from many places, but sexual dysfunction is SO vague and people seem to take the cookie cutter approach to treatment. My husband has difficulty maintaining an erection (which I realize is part of the MS). Viagra and Cialis have not helped. Despite all of this, we still have a satisfying intimate relationship. But the real problem is that we are trying to get pregnant and 5 times out of 6, he is unable to ejaculate.
190673 tn?1259203266 if depression causes sexual disfunctions, and then anti-depressants make it worse. What can be done to get back to normal state? I try to switch meds and all, i try viagra, levitra, cialis, but when the pills give me erection, there is no feeling. zero. does any1 have any idea what I should do to get my sex life back besides quitting all the anti-depressants?
Avatar f tn When you say sexual dysfunction ,do you refer to an erectile and ejaculation problem? Do you experience any pain or deformity during erection or ejaculation? When you say "no erection", does this happen 100% of the time? Do you still get night time erections ? Have you any previous infections or prior surgeries or instrumentation of the genitalia? Any recent pain or problems with urination?
Avatar f tn The horrible side effects I experience are nausea, loss of appetite, lack of motivation, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, racing thoughts and agitation. But what makes me really upset is every time I discuss with my pdoc about how sh*t this med is and that I need to taper it off, he would either convince me to continue or brush it all off. Thus, I decided to taper it off myself so I’m lowering the dose by 1- 2mg each 3-4 week which I heard is safe to do. But still im concerned.
Avatar n tn If you are taking one of the standard medications for ocd such as the SSRI anti-depressents (Prozac, Paxil, Luvox, Effexor) this could be the problem. Speak to your psychiatrist about and ask if that could be what the cause is.
Avatar n tn re asking or why you want to take Paxil to delay your orgasms. Paxil is an anti-depressant, and can have many side effects. There are other ways to learn how to last longer, if that's important to you. Read on. First, let’s clear up something: you’re NOT the problem. There’s nothing wrong with you—or your penis. I'm wondering why you have the expectation that you should last longer than 5 minutes.
Avatar f tn t used if anxiety is a major issue except as an adjunct to an ssri for sexual dysfunction, and even then you have to watch for anxiety increasing. Likewise, neurontin is a very tricky med; acting directly on GABA often increases anxiety, even for some taking GABA as a supplement. I would get a different shrink and try another ssri, following your instincts. Might not work, since Paxil is the strongest, but it does sound like the appropriate class of meds for what you're suffering.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend has been on paxil since March, he was taking 40 mg of it a day. He has no sex drive and can't stay hard longer then 5 seconds. He cut his paxil by 25% each week and a week and a half ago he was started wellbutrin taking 300 mg and only 15 mg of paxil. 7 days ago he stopped paxikl completely.
Avatar f tn I plan at this point to wait and see if his sexual function does return and when it does, to point out (ever so subtely) that maybe the problem was related to Effexor rather than his age and it might help him focus on the benefits of being off Effexor while experiencing withdrawal. Again, thanks for letting me know Effexor related sexual dysfunction is not permanent. I will let you all know how it goes.
Avatar n tn I also had headaches (not anymore) intense anxiety for moments and muscle pain (on back and and abdomen) because I am very tense all the time. Yesterday was the worse of all. Horrible. The nausea was absolutely horrible, and I was so anxious that I felt like I was going to get crazy. And I am afraid that this is just starting. I took 10 mg of Paxil cause I couldn`t stand it anymore. My questions are: *Did I stop taking the Paxil very fast?
Avatar m tn Hi guys, I'm 31 years old and have been taking Paxil for about 10 years now. I've tried to stop taking the medication many times but my depression always returns. In any case Paxil works for me but the only problem is it has sexual side effects. I get aroused and am able to maintain an erection but it can be very hard to reach orgasm. Is there any other drug that can counteract this side effect or perhaps another anitdepressant that doesn't have this side effect?
572651 tn?1530999357 Morning Lulu, This teleconfrence was really worth listening too, Dr Kann was very nice, straightforward and quite informative. I was hoping for more on sexual dysfunction and sexual issues in women, there wasn't much but some really great information on the urinary issues in MS. Cheers..........
Avatar n tn Hi, Most of the antidepressants have the adverse effect of erectile dysfunction and ejaculation problems. Sometimes changing the medication does help in improving the symptoms. However, you can take Viagra after consulting your physician if you have the problem of erectile dysfunction. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn It will help both your diabetes and the erectile dysfunction. Likewise, if you smoke, quit. Nicotine causes your blood vessels to constriction and stay constricted for hours after your smoke a cigarette. That damages your vessels and can affect your ability to achieve and keep an erection. See your regular doctor for a complete and thorough check up. Make sure your blood pressure is less than 120/80, check your HgbA1C to make sure your blood sugar is stable and under control.
