Paxil and seroquel

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and seroquel

paxil

I tried 40 mgs of Paxil and my anxiety and panic became worse. This continued for 2 months then I decreased the Paxil to 30mg and did not have any effects. This made me curious that the Paxil is not working. My questions are: 1. I would like to change to another SSRI or SNRI to see if this will make a difference. I was thinking Celexa. What is your opinion? 2. How would I switch medications. Could I take low doses of both at the same time or can I switch over all at once? 3.
does anyone have info about long term use of seroquel and how it affects you? my hubby tried to stop taking it and got all messed up. they are 50mg xr. thanks.
I do understand that seroquel IS a prescribed medication but why don't they tell you that if you just stop the medication you WILL go through the same withdrawals as heroin. I did stop taking the seroquel without tapering off and I got very sick, just as a person would from stopping heroin. I am back on seroquel as I said, but I don't understand why the withdrawal symptoms are the same. Thanks again for the comment and have a great day.
These meds can disrupt our sleep cycles because they affect the quality of sleep and the quality of our dream sleep. Seroquel is particularly sedating, so it's natural you might have a rebound effect. You can also try Calm's Forte, a homeopathic remedy. I wouldn't recommend the ambien, it's another strong drug, and eventually you'll just adjust to it, too, and it also disturbs natural sleep rhythms. Melatonin, on the other hand, resets your natural body clock, so give it a try.
5mg of Effexor ER, 200mg of Lamictal, 60 mg of Buspar, 1200 mg of Neurontin, 600mg of Seroquel and .5 mg of Xanax ER as needed. I feel better than I ever had in my life, but the only problem I have now is excessive weight gain--about 30 lbs. I am currently 5'7 and 188 lbs. I want to get my weight down to 160 lbs. As a New Year's resolution I have been working out between 30-60 minutes 5 days a week combining cardio and weight training.
My doctor is an expert on treatment resistant depression and she prescribes a low dose anti psychotic along with an anti depressant usually a SNRI I have taken zyprexa with effexor, I came off everything eventually giving up the anti psychotic first and at another time (now my second episode) cymbalta with Seroquel, though i am weaning the Seroquel now and i am down to 12.5 mg Are you just taking the one drug? ?
i already tried all AD's lexapro, celexa, paxil,.....all of them and they drove me manic, so i gave this one a try and for the 1st time in 2 years since i was dx BP i didn't become manic. Further it's VERY GOOD for anxiety. I'm waiting a few more months to see. If it succeeds, i was intending to tell the group, but i am patient.
Started taking seroquel 25mg., at bedtime, and they want to taper me off xanax..Terrifies me!! I'm it all together seroquel makes me sleep like a bear, and I do seem calmer the next day..Way different calm than xanax. Also on 3 blood pressure meds., and paxil 40mg. Help!!
i ve been on many AD prozac paxil zoloft effexor cymbalta and savella none of them worked so my pdoc put me on seroquel 600 mg and lexapro 20 mg and wellbutrin 450 mg i started feeling a little better .......but when should i feel the full effects?
I have been on and off Paxil for 5 years now. I started on CR low dose, now at 30mg no cr. My body is used to it... and it doesnt help me very much anymore-although it is better than being with out any medication at all. Soon I will be getting re-evaluated and I know they're going to ask me to wean off it. I am really scared, because I know the few times I have lapsed in dose, it has been absolutely horrible. Any advice? Any info? Everything I find online is abstract and not really helpful.
My anxiety is very bad right now and I need sleep. SOOO sleep deprived. Hopefully this seroquel xr 50mg will help with insomnia, anxiety and appetite soon.
but thats where you need to be aware of your body and mind.. and know when that is happening. Seroquel has been my miracle. And as stated before, I am extreemly medication sensitive. Good luck!
It is now two full weeks on this dosage of Wellbutrin and the anxiety is always with me. Insominia has kicked in and I am feeling nervous and ragged all of the time. I will say the weight is starting to come down, which is the first time in years and the most positive effect. Could you please tell me how long the anxiety and insominia will continue. I know all of these drugs take at least thirty days. I am just so afraid these symptoms are not going to go away.
I know of people who take Paxil and won't try anything else. Trust your body and weigh the pros/cons of each and decide which is best for you. Just remember, give each medication at least 4-6 weeks to take its full effect.
1) Is it typical and appropriate to prescribe daily doses of Klonopin, Lamictal, Seroquel, AND Celexa? 2) If so, would it be appropriate for a patient who has never had a seizure, and has not been diagnosed with any psychosis? 3) Would the combination of these 4 drugs be likely to cause a side effect of interference with thinking, memory, and speech? A family member has been taking all 4 of these meds daily as prescribed this year.
Hi, I am currently withdrawing from Paxil, Clonazapem, and Seroquel...lowest doses possible for several years and gradually withdrew for some time...but going off completely has been a virtual nightmare. Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to withdraw from these demons?
Have you seen a psychologist first? Paxil can be a tough drug for side effects and for withdrawal, and seroquel doesn't seem like an appropriate drug of first resort for you. Since your symptoms don't seem to be super severe, why not try therapy for awhile? Use meds as a last resort, not a first. They all have their own problems, so if you can get some help through therapy, maybe meditation as well, all the better.
Lithium and Seroquel together have made the best I have ever been, found risperdal wasn't good for me it gave me bad insomnia. Seroquel is the opposite and makes me sleep but i like that as i think sleep is good for your health rather than insomnia. I am still looking for that pill which makes me back to normal though. I would ask your doctor why he don't want you on seroquel and tell him/her that it has really helped you.
I was told weaning was not necessary switching from Paxil to Prozac, just discontinue Paxil and take Prozac at the next dosage time. 1 week ago this is what I did. The first day or so, not too much trama, however, by day 3 the nausea, head-spinning, tingling sensations, dizziness and just plain feeling sick-in-the-head and out-of-it feelings took over. Since I am new to this kind of med transition, can you tell me if what I am physically feeling is pretty usual when changing medications.
My stomach gets so tense it hurts when I try to relax it and am also not hungry during the day. I tapered off of the Paxil .4mg 5 days at a time(liquid paxil) and have been completely off of it for 1 week. But I am still experiencing the above symptoms and am afraid that it is not going to go away beings that the Paxil should be out of my system by now and hasn't gotten any better. I've taken xanax and klonopin to try and calm my body down but they seem to make it worse.
Hi, I have just seen a prominent (in my area anyway) psychiatrist and he has prescribed me Abilify and Gabapentin to add to my 'pill cocktail' of Paxil, Clonazepam and Seroquel. Well he suggested that I wean myself very slowly off of the Seroquel and probably increase the Gabapentin. Do you think this would work--relying only on the Gabapentin and clonazepam to sleep?
I am 48, and have recently been diagnosed BP2, I have in the past been on celexa, and seroquel. I am currently taking Trileptal, and weening off paxil. I also take clonazepam. I have panic anxiety disorder too, and probably a little OCD. I would love to hear the experiences of other ladies in the same boat as me. take care.
and drink, I know somwonw whop had one glass o wine on paxil and ended up in the emerg. Have to be careul don't smoke i you take seroquel either bad experience.
Recently, my psychiatrist has added seroquel at 100 mg twice a day. It should be noted that i stopped taking paxil on my own about 4 years ago. The psychiatrist that prescribed it to me said that it wasn't a concern- it hasn' created any problems.
He sent me to a psychiartrist whom diagnosed me with a chemical imbalance so they put me on paxil. Some time passed and no results. Then they put me on seroquel and zoloft at the same time. I got real sick. Automatically a blood test was drawn by an asian doctor who noticed that my prolactin level was very abnormally high. So they took me off all of my medicine and put me on a high dose of bromocriptine, I took it twice daily. I felt sick all the time. My chest, no improvements.
I'm on zoloft 175mg, clonopin 1mg 3 times a day, seroquel 100mg to go to sleep and 25 mg twice a day, however, I don't take the seroquel morning dose because it makes me too sleepy. I'm desperate trying to find out why I'm still having anxiety and the ton of meds are not working. I was on disability for two months and just went back to work. I've been constantly crying and being anxious. I don't know what to do. I won't see my doctor until next week.
Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
I've never met an antidepressant that did not wire me. Paxil, Wellbutrin, Zoloft all left me feeling edgy and made my insomnia worse! Caffeine with these antidepressants can really make you feel edgy. For some people, these drugs are sedating, but for others...like you and me...they seem to have the opposite effect. Please talk to your doctor about all this. It seems that you may be sensitive to the medications. Maybe he can give you something to sleep and you can see if that is helpful to you.
Wow! Literally a nightmare, this is by far the worst drug i have ever taken, seroquel was also a Nightmare! My Doc switched me over to Klonopin and so far it has helped a little, the only problem is that he upped my dose from .5mg of Xanax per day to .5mg twice daily. I don't think I'm going to take the full mg of klonopin, i will take the .5mg like i used to with Xanax. So far it has helped a little. I'm hoping that 2 miles of jogging every other day will help taper off completely.
