Paxil and klonopin interaction

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and klonopin interaction

paxil

org/wiki/SSRI#Contraindications_and_drug_interaction It says that benzodiazepines like alprazolam (Xanax) or diazepam (Valium) (klonopin is also a benzo) along with SSRIs (paxil/prozac) may increase blood levels and risk of toxicities. IF this is true 4) Why am I prescribed klonopin with the Prozac (and previously the paxil?) I have had no problems with mixing the two together but I'm curious as to why it would say that in wikipedia. Thanks!
I have to agree with greenlydia - it would be best to talk to a pharmacist about the interactions. Both klonopin and Ativan are benzodiazepines, which, I'm sure, you know, but klonopin is a longer acting one than Ativan, meaning it will take longer before it starts acting. If I were you, I'd ask your psych doc as many questions as possible regarding meds. My mother suffers from bipolar and is on Lamictal, paxil and Xanax as needed.
paxil and klonopin are frequently prescribed together, and the dose you are taking is quite modest. The klonopin does not build up on the schedule you are taking, so that is not a problem. You do have to be most careful when you stop paxil, that is when trouble can occur, and similarly with klonopin but not as much of a problem.
I also suggest asking the doctor about maybe keeping your paxil the same and taking the klonopin...klonopin is used as a daily medication for long term use. You would have to see what mg would work for you...xanax is for short term and tolerance is built up quickly where on klonopin you pretty much stay on the same mg for a long time...I am not a doctor and am not sure if all my "facts" are accurate..so please talk to you doctor about this. take care!
1) Is it typical and appropriate to prescribe daily doses of klonopin, Lactical, Seroquel, and Celexa (plus Xanax on an as needed basis)? 2) If so, would it be typical and appropriate for a patient who has never had a seizure, and has not been diagnosed with manic depression, schizophrenia, or any other psychosis? 3) Would the combination of these 4 (or 5) drugs be likely to cause a side effect of interference with thinking, memory, and speech?
I take klonopin, and an ssri paxil.I wan to go the jym and take muscle supplements, protein powder, aminoacids, etc. Is it ok to this supplements for gaining muscle?
my neuro said he didn't know anything about dmds and their interaction with depression- he suggested i ask a psychiatrist, but it will still take a lot of time until i can see one- and then i don't know if this specific psychiatrist will necessarily know anything about this. so i would be really grateful for any advice or experience and of course many many thanks in advanc to anyone who is going to reply.
It makes me feel more like myself where the klonopin dulls me and gives me more of a buzz and makes me out of it. Again, zoloft is the one ssri that I have never given longer than a few weeks on compared to the others so that's why we are trying it out. The lexapro stopped working and paxil I was on a few times for years at a time so that's why my decision to go back to it is an option. However, since taking the zoloft I feel aweful while taking the valium.
Hi I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Sjogren's, Hypothyroid, Raynaud's, Migrains, all of which have caused me to gain extreme amounts of weight from being confined to a bed for several years and being put on medications such as steroids and paxil to treat the pain. I am a 35 year old woman who is 5' 8" who was always very thin until I got sick and then went from 145 lbs to 313 lbs in one year!
I have been checked out by Neuro, ENT and GP and NOTHING. I'm wondering if I have TMJ but I don't know. Here are my symptoms... Right ear pain Right ear fullness/ringing Pain behind right eye spot headaches on right side grinding teeth at night stiff neck - going into my shoulders I had an MRI/MRA back in Oct and all it showed was chronic sinusitis which I am being treated for by my ENT however he knows the pain is not coming from my ear. I am worried. Could this be an aneursym?

Prozac and paxil both significantly block the pathway for the metabolism of Adderall and all the amphetamine products. [Wellbutrin and Cymbalta can block 2D6 at their higher doses.] If you take either of these two antidepressants together with an amphetamine, just watch out. You can significantly become overdosed on the amphetamine and suffer significant side effects. Often this interaction can unpredictably occur several months later.
I started having panic attacks back in 2002 finally got help in 2003 I took paxil cr 25 mg and klonopin for 2 years had my life back no more panic attacks. Well since they took it off the market 2 months ago my Doctor started me on Effexor xr 75 mg 2 times a day. It didn't help me at all.. I would just sit and cry while on it. Then she started me on prozac 20 mg. I took it for about a week and felt worse then I have ever felt in my life.
I was on prozac once and have been on xanex forever (a long time with both xanex and paxil). Never noticed any interaction at all. After the prozac kicks in, be sure to taper off the xanex and don't stop it abruptly and you should be fine.

I have been to about 30 doctors- including ENT's allergists, neurologists, chiropracters, opthamologists. psychologists, dentists and everything else u can think of. All CT scans, MRI of brain and blood work keep coming back clean and ok. Nothing I try seems to work. There was a period of time about 3 and a half years ago that the symptoms lifted for about 4 months and then it returned full force.
I only take paxil cr and diazepam for my anxiety. Just find a doc you trust and make sure he knows all the meds you are taking. Good luck and try to relax.
anyway increased jitteryness even going up an addtl 2.5 mg but been going to the gym to work it off and haven't needed a klonopin in a week and a half - I am on Day 26 by the way so a bit ahead of you guys....still sticking it out.... i think its getting better so hang in there....
He wrote prescriptions for Zoloft and klonopin and sent me on my way. The klonopin was great for calming me down, but it left me so sleepy and lightheaded that I had to stay in bed for two weeks, after that time, the doctor took me off the klonopin and suggested I up my Zoloft dosage to 100 mg/day. Two days later, I had three panic attacks within a 12 hour period.
It can also happen if two of the wrong drugs are paired together. For example Tramadol which has a strong effect on Serotonin and (for example) paxil which strongly effects the Reuptake Inhibition of Serotonin. Symptoms can be many and you can read about them online. Watch that intake of Xanax. You said your taking 1mg 4 times a day. Most doctors will not allow a patient to go higher than 1mg twice per day.

I was on paxil for anxiety for about 2 years and gained almost 40 pounds. The paxil was initially very helpful, however, the weight gain was not something that I was willing to deal with and the drugs effectiveness waned. I was put on Wellbutrin by another Doctor while I was weaning myself of paxil. I lost all the weight that I had gained on paxil (and more) within 3 months. I recently began taking the drug again for some anxiety based depression, and I am finding the same thing happening.
