Paxil and irritability

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and irritability

paxil

Avatar n tn I had been on Effexor XR 75 mg for 6 years and Paxil 20 mg for 4 years. My liver enzymes (ALT 120) were elevated and both psychiatrist and primary doctor agreed to discontinue these drugs. I was tapered off each drug one at a time over a 6 week period plus my Straterra 60mg for ADHD. It has now been 3 weeks since no further meds. I experienced severe withdrawals including: vomiting (first 3 days), nausea (for abt.
Avatar m tn I have recently been struggling w/ more intense anxiety and depression and irritability. I am switching from Paxil to Cymbalta, and am down from 30 mg of Paxil to 5 mg, and then up to 60 mg of Cymbalta. I feel like I am having a racing heart/palpitations. I am not sure if it's anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart. Has anyone switched from Paxil to Cymbalta (weaning off/increasing at same time.) If so, did you have any issues?
550027 tn?1215767264 i have the same symtoms and im withdrawing from paxil and zoloft. I took the zoloft to help withdraw from the paxil. Im dizzy alot, feel nauseated, and feel tingling in my hands and very irritable, and moody for sure.
Avatar f tn I went to my pdoc today bc I had a bad reaction to Cymbalta when my dose was lifted to 120mg. She said I may not be 'just depressed ' that with my years of irritability and alcoholism (I'm 21 years sober) that I may be bipolar 2. So I looked it up. Tons of new words. Hypomanic? I'm not the best one to ask if I meet criteria for any diagnosis bc I minimize everything. No I hate when people poke at me with their fingertip or pat my arm, or grab my arm.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Paxil for 10 years for anxiety and depression and no longer feel it is effective. I do see a psychologist for depression but it is not totally controlled with counseling. My doctor has agreed to switch my medication. My concern is the withdrawal from Paxil.
Avatar f tn m thinking of going back on something but am concerned about 1) weight gain/bloating and 2) pregnancy (newly married and want to start a family soon). Paxil made me gain weight and I know is a no no for pregnancy. Any recommendations? Stay off and just be somewhat unpleasant / unhappy? Any good drugs that don't have those side effects and aren't scary to come off of?
Avatar f tn I am taking 50mg pristiq for generalized anxiety disorder brought on by my graves disease. I have notice i am becoming more combative with friends and family. I am bothered by the slightlest things and I am getting aggressive? is this due to the medication?
Avatar m tn Immediately made me extremely anxious and "freaked out" Since the Celexa episode, I've been hesitant to take anything else, this was almost 1 year ago, but now I am really out of it, my job is even at risk, I don't know what to do... Talking to someone does not help much. I really need some advice on medication...
3142879 tn?1342977455 I have been on paxil for 4 yrs now and I lost my insurance and the cost for the meds are 40 bucks. Now I have been off my paxil for 4 days now and im miserable and I still have 2 days till I can go get my script. The zaps and irritability is whats really getting to me. Will 1 klonopin a day help with the withdrawals?
Avatar m tn So far, the withdrawals have been manageable, but apparent. I have experienced irritability, moodiness as in anxious and then tired and then a bit manicky and then a bit down, some muscular stiffness/weakness, vivid dreams and some sleep disruption. Generally feel a bit disoriented or "off". Just reporting, as it seems there's no hard facts coming out of the medical community.
Avatar f tn I'm tapering from suboxone and these are my biggest issues: no energy and crazy anxiety/ irritability but I also wanted to post this question because of how many other people I see on here struggling with the same thing. I've been told by the dr that exercise will help but omg it's so hard! I'm also taking a good vitamin supp for energy which seems to help some.
568778 tn?1216812953 I have insomnia, feel like my skin is crawling, increased anxiety, irritability, my joints and muscles ache, I am exhausted the majority of the time. Something is just not right. There are times that I feel tingling in my arms and legs.I am having trouble focusing and concentrating at my job, and with simple things at home. I have suffered with migraines for over 20 years. I have Raynauds, so I am unable to take medications such as imitrex (due to vasoconstriction).
Avatar m tn I've been trying to get off of Paxill and I'm having so much trouble. It seems so odd that the withdrawls would be so bad for a medicine that is supposed to help you would be so hard on you to quit using. I stopped taking it for a while then I went back on it because I thought it was a bad idea to just stop without talking to my doctor.
Avatar f tn m sorry you are going through this. I have taken Paxil for the irritability and Neurontin for restless legs associated with opiate withdrawal. I don't take anything addictive for the irritability because I've had an addiction problem but those two things may be helpful and easier for him to get. I'm still in the process of tapering off meds but if there's anything I can help with please feel free to message me.
Avatar f tn I noticed since I started taking the lexapro, I have gained about 10 pounds and it seems to be all in my belly, I have never had problems with weight before, I was the type of person who didn't exercise and never gained weight. Now I exercise and eat very little and still gain weight. I want to withdraw from this medication before it gets out of hand, when I start tapering and withdrawing I get extreme panic symptoms, so i don't know what to do, I feel stuck.
Avatar f tn The worst symptoms I feel are feeling like I can hear my eyes moving in my head every time I change directions (kinda sounds like a scratching) and EXTREME irritability and anger. It actually starting to depress me how crabby I get and how anxious I am feeling (feels like I am back to square one with the anxiety). As far as the Wellbutrin goes, a hour or so after I take it, I feel fine emotionally BUT I also feel like my heart is beating irregularily, which I know can be dangerous.
605458 tn?1539228808 It is unlike normal or even PMS irritability. It comes on SO fast and I act before I can stop myself. I throw things, kick things, hit things. It is embarrassing and I am afraid of it happening in public. After the event, I can see how it was inappropriate and an over-reaction. I'm too old to behave like a 13 year old throwing a tantrum. I'm wondering why my bipolar disorder has evolved into this.
1691407 tn?1332712547 Irritability and grumpiness are side effects of the interferon. My husband had both. Forgetting or being irritable over irrational things could be a side effect, or it could be HE. Check with his Hepa.
Avatar n tn Nope. Just a sign that you're pregnant. I get that way occasionally too and I'm currently overdue, which reeeaaallly helps w the irritability part. Lol.
Avatar n tn Ok Mommys I have been extremely irritable and hormonal the last two days and I just don't feel good at all. No consistent contractions but I've heard increased irritability is sometimes a sign of labor coming soon. Anyone have experience with this?!?!
Avatar n tn I have been on a .20mg dose of Paxil, for the first month and now on a .30 dose of Paxil for the next three months. I have experienced many of the same side effects as everyone else has mentioned on this Site. Although there was some initial success after the first 2 1/2 weeks, now the progress is spotty at best after two months. I find I can read text books and technical reading materials but find working on the computer still frustrating. (I wear glasses and am very nearsighted).
Avatar f tn I'm confused -- are you saying that you're on Effexor and Zoloft and Paxil at the same time? Or Prozac and Paxil at the same time? You can't do that unless you've tapered down slowly off the Paxil -- you can't take two drugs that target serotonin at the same time if you're still at a medicinal dose of the first one.
Avatar f tn s ? if not...tell them you have the flu and you feel really bad and irritable. that you are sorry for yelling......and you will talk to them in a couple of days...i felt really irritable off and on the whole time i tapered( 10days ) and still get that way at times...one minute i'm calm..and the next min. i'm yelling...it's hard becuz sometimes it feels like my emotions are raw and i just feel really jumpy...but it will get better!
2010625 tn?1329372056 I have started to become nervous and irritable again and it is scary. I was like that for two years straight and I really don't want to do it again. I eventually got diagnosed with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder), and later with Bipolar Disorder. The only thing that made it go away was the Risperdal they put me on. Unfortunately I had to go off of it because it raised my prolactin (the hormone that makes women lactate and can also stop a womans period) level sky high.
