paxil

Avatar f tn And does Paxil interact with Diazepam and does paxil interact with carbamazepine? Does carbamazepine interact with diazepam and vice versa? Please help! Write me back! I am a single mom of two small children who is scared that something will happen to me.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have been taking Paxil for 10 years. At first I started taking it because I had anxiety problems while eating. As soon as I started paxil these problems went away for the most part in a few weeks. A couple years later I started having panic attacks. I recently began seeing a psychiatrist who increased my dosage gradually from 20mg to 60mg. I really haven't noticed any difference though at all when going from 20mg to 60mg of paxil.
Avatar m tn I have just gotten off Paxil 20 mg after 20 years. I will have to say I had terrible side effects. You didn't say much about getting off Paxil. Did you have as hard a time as I did. I am off 2 ½ months and have terrible sweating and heart palpitations until this day. Did you have that and did it ever pass? Don't know about the ejac's part as I am female. But, I still to not have desire for sex.
Avatar f tn I do not know if michael has taken Paxil, but i did take it for over 8 years and let me tell you paxil put me through hell and one of the side effects was heart palpittions. There are many side effects from paxil that many people are not aware of. SO do your research. There are so many great web sites out there, one is paxilprogress.
Avatar f tn I do think increasing the Paxil will help, and doing this is very common as our bodies adapt to the medication and it becomes less effective. I'm not sure why they gave you both ativan and propanolol, I would think it would be one or the other. Maybe the propanolol was given to help with any withdrawal from the xanax. I don't feel that your PCP is the best one to prescribe these types of meds, a psychiatrist is more knowledgeable and would know what is best.
Avatar n tn What happens if i find out im pregnant and am on Paxil? I hear that it is very bad to be on Paxil especially during the first trimester. I definately want to come off of it-but i cant do it cold turkey being that the withdrawal symptoms are pretty bad. If, in the past, i missed a dose-I would begin feeling very dizzy and nauseaus. Im sure this affect or worse wouldnt be good for the baby either. If I ween myself off slowly-im still taking Paxil in my system during the first trimester.
Avatar f tn He has never suffered from anxiety before. His shrink upped the Paxil to 20mg and gave him a low dose of xanax (0.25mg and later 0.5mg) to take as needed. He also takes clonozapan as needed, but both these drugs make him fuzzy or put him to sleep, so he can't function/work when he takes them. The past week has been horrendous. He wakes up terrified! Sweating, heart racing, crying, and terrified to leave the house.
Avatar n tn i suffer from anxiety and i am always worried theres something wrong with my heart and alss lately ive been getting heart flutter i went to the Dr. and they did and EKG and she said everything is fine and stop worry about your heart i cant help it can anyone give me advise. And also they want to put me on Zoloft but im not sure if I was to take any medication.
Avatar n tn from then onwards i always keep thinking that i am about to have a heart problem/heart attack/ stroke.. i used to take paxil for 6 motnhs but never worked, and now i take half a milligram of ativan when it gets bad. but even when its 'not bad', its still kind of bad, considering other people live without these worrying. What also worries me is that by worrying, i am harming my heart.. i feel like im going crazy at times. can anyone relate please?
Avatar n tn I was on Paxil for a few months and came off and experienced massive withdrawal, worse then my previous Loratab addiction. I came off cold turkey but immediately switched to Zoloft. I was on a high dose of Paxil. The only ache I had was a massive headache 24/7. Massive!! I went back on Paxil for two weeks and I'm off again but it's odd that I have no headache but I have the most horrible back pain. I never had this before starting Paxil.
Avatar n tn No problems at all. Now i am feeling slight chest discomfort and at times abnormal heart beats. I really dont feel stressed about anything at all and i dont want to go back to taking paxil. I have had all of the tests done (EKG, stress test, etc) to rule out any heart problems. I still feel like they might have missed something, but i dont feel really stressed about it. Is there any other alternatives to Paxil that wont make me gain weight?
Avatar m tn I have recently been struggling w/ more intense anxiety and depression and irritability. I am switching from Paxil to Cymbalta, and am down from 30 mg of Paxil to 5 mg, and then up to 60 mg of Cymbalta. I feel like I am having a racing heart/palpitations. I am not sure if it's anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart. Has anyone switched from Paxil to Cymbalta (weaning off/increasing at same time.) If so, did you have any issues?
Avatar f tn I have taken the two of them together with no problems. I now take Propanolol and Citolopram and still no problems. Propanolol is used to treat anxiety, high BP, cluster headaches, tremors, aids in sleeping, and maybe more. It has a short life which means it doesn't stay in your system very long, probably much like the Xanax. But they're safe together.
Avatar m tn m so scared too walk up the stairs and having sex, I just run out of breath and my heart just races. I just needed to get this out off my chest, my wife doesnt understand how I feel, it's just weird feeling. Ty for listening!!
467977 tn?1262714747 Also, for the record, I took the *whole* 20mg Paxil this morning. My heart rate went up to 100bpm, till the .25 Klonopin kicked in an hour later. I think it's b/c my body has to get used to the whole dose at once now, instead of me spacing out 10mg through the day. I just want this to go away! I am also going to therapy, but it's like talk therapy. Blah. I need a real psychiatrist who can do CBT.
Avatar n tn Usually the liquid form is used toward the end of your taper, but who knows? My question is if you're doing this with a psychiatrist who understands these meds -- and most don't, you have to grill them ahead of time -- who can monitor your taper?
Avatar f tn I was feeling fine on the Paxil mentally. I was just have the rapid heart beat and some anxiety but not nearly at all the amount of anxiety that I'm experiencing now. I think it could be Paxil withdrawel? I was on 10 mg Paxil doing well mentally and was switched to 15 mg Lexapro. I feel really panicky and depressed now on the Lexapro. Please let me know if you have had a similar experience or if you have had Paxil withdrawel. I think it's best for me to go back on the Paxil.
Avatar f tn Thank goodness I found this site. It has been so frustrating thinking I was the only one out there with this problem. 20 years ago I was diagnosed with mild mitral and tricuspid valve prolapses and i've had PVCs for 20 years. Mostly stayed off caffeine and everything was fine enough. They didn't bother me and when I did feel one or two of them, I just said to myself, oops, must have been that cup of coffee.
Avatar f tn I would definately get a second opinion! However, 'chest pains' usually stem from panic attacks. I was on Paxil for 5 years...it worked wonders for my panic attacks...I actually just went off it Feb 10th-ish, tried other meds, but they didn't work, so I started up Paxil again. All I can say is positive stuff about it. It doesn't make my heart pound, and I don't have attacks anymore. Good luck to you hun.
Avatar n tn I was currently on Leaxpro and just got changed to Paxil and Klonopin. I also take propranolol for my heart twice a day. Is it safe for these medications to be taken together?
Avatar f tn Wow, interesting information....I had never even heard of "seratonin syndrome". I may have had that once when I was on Zoloft. Not sure though. Anyhow, I've been on SSRI's for a long time also. I was on Zoloft for about 5+ years and then Celexa for 7+ years (I'm still on CELEXA, btw).
445725 tn?1206388767 Then Saturday I had 3 (two beers, 1 champagne) and felt really really depressed. Took everything to heart. Anyone have issues with alcohol and Paxil?
Avatar m tn I was treated from the ages of about 13 to 19 for social anxiety disorder with paxil. I have no family history of neurological problems. I have been taking lexapro since it was prescribed to me initially at a start dose of 10 mg tapered up to 30. Recently, my psychiatrist has added seroquel at 100 mg twice a day. It should be noted that i stopped taking paxil on my own about 4 years ago.
457721 tn?1256640798 Oh my gosh, I hope you can get everything straightened out! Paxil may not be the drug for you; there are many other antidepressants out there to choose from. I was on Paxil for 7 years, starting at age 13 and then finally stopping at age 20. I took 40mg and it worked well for several years, but then it began to lose its effectiveness and made me EXTREMELY LAZY!!!
Avatar n tn i agree with the last comment. see a cardioligist, it would'nt hurt. it does sound like anxiety to me because i have it and i get heart palps when my anxiety is high. did they check your potassium level? sometimes that can cause heart palps. if it happens again drink a glass of orange juice and see if that helps, it has potassium in it. your awfully young to be having heart problems but you should get it checked out just so you'll feel better and not be so worried. take care.
Avatar m tn I take 30mg of Paxil once daily and find it to be fairly effective. I have been on it for a year and a half now and find it has less side effects than the 150mg/effexor I was on for years before hand.
1501613 tn?1289319749 I have been on Zoloft for 3 years. My doctor Rx paxil because of heart palpultations. Is it safe to take both? I take the Zoloft during the day and Paxil at night because I noticed it helps me sleep.
