My answer to your post however, is that the palpitations are caused by your anxiety and/or panic attacks and not from the medications themselves, unless, perhaps you have a pre-existing heart condition of some type.
I was feeling fine on the Paxil mentally. I was just have the rapid heart beat and some anxiety but not nearly at all the amount of anxiety that I'm experiencing now. I think it could be Paxil withdrawel? I was on 10 mg Paxil doing well mentally and was switched to 15 mg Lexapro. I feel really panicky and depressed now on the Lexapro. Please let me know if you have had a similar experience or if you have had Paxil withdrawel. I think it's best for me to go back on the Paxil.
I'm 21 years old and have had hear palpitations for about two months. I have never had previous heart problems until these palpitations started. It all happened when I moved from san diego back to washington state were my family lives. I went to the emergency room twice in one week when I got to washington because of a rapid heart rate. (125 bpm). They dygnosed me with dehydration both times and I went home. They continued to happen and I went to my local doctor.

I am switching from Paxil to Cymbalta, and am down from 30 mg of Paxil to 5 mg, and then up to 60 mg of Cymbalta. I feel like I am having a racing heart/palpitations. I am not sure if it's anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart. Has anyone switched from Paxil to Cymbalta (weaning off/increasing at same time.) If so, did you have any issues?

Went to ER, EKG was normal and was sent home. My doctor ordered a 24hr heart holter and blood tests to check electrolytes/thyroid. All came back normal other than showing PVCs and premature atrial contractions. Doctor wants to follow up this coming week with echo and stress test to make sure there are no other issues to address. Started having what I believe to be panic attacks: strong heart palpitations, increased blood pressure, nausea, dizziness, urgent need to have a bowel movement.

The only problems I have are really bad anxiety and panic attacks that I take medication for (though I still get panic attacks pretty frequently).
Everything disappeared after I had cardiac catheter ablation in May but after three weeks the strong, heavy heartbeat has returned (not the palpitations). They are worse than ever and I have to take Ambien to get to sleep. I am trying acupuncture, hypnotherapy, yoga but am getting no relief. I get chest pain and pain in arms but doc says all tests are ok. I have tried calcium, magnesium, hawthorn extract, CoQ10 also. I have been on paxil, lexapro, effexor, they do nothing for me.
Can Paxil mask the problem? While I was on Paxil I did not have heart palpitations, racing heart, heat/cold sensitivity, weight loss, anxiety attacks, dizziness and nausea. Once I taper off (twice), the symptoms reappear. What gives? Thank you!
About a month later I started having A LOT of heart palpitations. I went to the ER and they did an EKG that came back normal and the doc said my heart seemed fine. He did indicate that he could see my palpitations on the heart monitor. My blood pressure was 100/65 and my pulse was 65. He tested my TSH and it was at 25. He told me to drop my synthroid down to 50 mcg until I saw my doc because he thought the medication may be the cause of my palpitations.
I have just gotten off Paxil 20 mg after 20 years. I will have to say I had terrible side effects. You didn't say much about getting off Paxil. Did you have as hard a time as I did. I am off 2 ½ months and have terrible sweating and heart palpitations until this day. Did you have that and did it ever pass? Don't know about the ejac's part as I am female. But, I still to not have desire for sex.

I'm prescribed the Clonazepam 1mg BID PRN anxiety, not daily, just to take as needed :-). I've not needed it YET (for panic attacks only), so I was trying to get this side effect worked out for the occasion that I DO need it.
Your heart palpitations are likely from tolerance-dependent benzo withdrawal, Andy. If you have been on 1mg for 2 years, your tolerance may have exceeded your dose, and you may be in a constant state of partial withdrawal.
I was switched from paxil to lexapro but still feeling high anxiety and then I went and saw a cardiologist the other day and was told to take heart medicine for the palpitations but that scares me to death. But i've been having the palpitations everyday so I guess I should trust the doctors, but I suffer with panic, anxiety and I'm just so anxious to take another medicine on top of what i'm already taking. Do you happen to know how to get advise from the experts on this website?
What you may have is Panic Disorder, I thought I had developed heart disease and was constantly worrying about the palpitations, rapid heart rate, feelings of dread, and of course the anxiety attacks which make you think you're having a heart attack. I was convinced that I had heart disease, my doctor checked out my heart and prescribed me Paxil, it doesn't happen anymore.
i have taken this for years and never had this effect but just recently aabout a month ago started back on 50 mg of zoloft and i am getting lots of heart palpitations.. going for stress test this month already had echo echo fine couple leaky valves with age but nothing seroius.
Hello. Im 15 yo and i have tremors and heart palpitations all over my body every day especially when i lay down to sleep. I have anxiety and im a hypochondriac too. Lately i have been very stressed about my health condition i've taken blood test and everything turned out good but those two things (tremors and palpitations) started showing. I dont know what to do. Is there a way to stop them and is my anxiety causing them?
