Paxil and heart attack

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and heart attack

paxil

Avatar f tn Thank goodness I found this site. It has been so frustrating thinking I was the only one out there with this problem. 20 years ago I was diagnosed with mild mitral and tricuspid valve prolapses and i've had PVCs for 20 years. Mostly stayed off caffeine and everything was fine enough. They didn't bother me and when I did feel one or two of them, I just said to myself, oops, must have been that cup of coffee.
Avatar n tn I take paxil 25 cr now and it is working pretty good. My doc upped me to 37.5 and I noticed no difference either so went back down to 25 without a problem. I think as long as you are taking paxil going down on dose is not an issue, it's if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch.
Avatar n tn Last time coming off Paxil I nearly had a heart attack, I was admitted to the ER and given Benzos along with meds to reduce blood pressure and heart rate. I was only there 3 days but when I got home the withdrawal continued. I had no choice but to go back on and tapering did not help. I had months withdrawal even taking Zoloft. My opioid withdrawal lasted 3 days and was not as severe.
Avatar f tn When you stated that you took Paxil and you were awake for 3 days, do you think you were manic? The reason I ask is because I have bipolar along with depression and anxiety. I have been on several kinds of antidepressants along with anticonvulsant medications that, in my case, are used as mood stablizers. My doctor took me off of the Lexapro because certain antidepressants, if not all, are known to cause manic episodes in people with bipolar.
Avatar f tn I had one Panic attack and was then put on Paxil after one panic attack. It was a nightmare, same symthoms as you husband. Then I was cold turkeyed off the Paxil in 10 days and put on .5mg of clonozapan at night for 6 months. Can very close to cashing in my chips becuse of these drugs. They are two seperate drugs working on to seprate parts of the brain. It is almost impossible to wean off of clonozapan.
Avatar f tn You have a VERY common condition of a great many anxiety/panic people. It's called "heart anxiety," and it can make a living hell. You've had just about every test in the book and every one of them has come back normal. Being unable to accept there is nothing wrong with our hearts is simply another symptom of this "disorder.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking paxil, Xanax, and abilify and my panic attacks have gone from bad, to worse, to really f'ing bad that I can hardly even drive. My wife and I are trying buy a house and we are expecting our second child. however I have nothing else going on in my life to stress me out this bad. I don't know what to do. I have recently started seeing a therapist as well as psychiatrist. My bloodwork continues to come back good aside from a small abnormal thyroid.
Avatar f tn Thank you both for letting me know what you've gone through. I'm 45 and yes I was under some stress prior to my attack. My oldest son was leaving for Afghanistan, my third son was leaving for college, my baby son was giving me all kinds of teenage trouble stuff and my faience' had a heart attack. It was right during that time I had the first panic attack and feel of doom. My big question to you is this.
Avatar f tn My mom actually takes it but we're trying to get her to quit taking it bc of the commercials they show on tv about it she's already had a heart attack before and the med.
Avatar f tn About 1 month ago I experianced an anxiety attack, I thought I was having a heart attack and I thought I was going to die. I had my boyfriend rush me to the hospital at 11pm and when I finally got in they did an EKG and a chest x-ray on me. They told me that my heart and lungs were fine and gave me a prescription for Ativan(1mg). I took that for about 3 weeks then i stopped taking it for a week and now my family doctor gave me a prescription for Paxil(10mg) to take for 30 days starting today.
Avatar f tn I do think increasing the Paxil will help, and doing this is very common as our bodies adapt to the medication and it becomes less effective. I'm not sure why they gave you both ativan and propanolol, I would think it would be one or the other. Maybe the propanolol was given to help with any withdrawal from the xanax. I don't feel that your PCP is the best one to prescribe these types of meds, a psychiatrist is more knowledgeable and would know what is best.
Avatar n tn I was currently on Leaxpro and just got changed to Paxil and Klonopin. I also take propranolol for my heart twice a day. Is it safe for these medications to be taken together?
Avatar f tn I do not know if michael has taken Paxil, but i did take it for over 8 years and let me tell you paxil put me through hell and one of the side effects was heart palpittions. There are many side effects from paxil that many people are not aware of. SO do your research. There are so many great web sites out there, one is paxilprogress.
5001974 tn?1362162155 Anxiety is a weird yet adventurous illness for anything you put in your head will happen undoubtably. I've suffered from the age of 19 and am now 35 and have had all types of hypochondriac ideas and feeling creep in my head from thinking I have heart issues to high blood pressure to thinking and googling all kind of illnesses.
Avatar f tn Somebody please tell me this is normal for anxiety and panic!!! I take 40mgs of Paxil daily and it is helping at all. I feel scared all the time to have another one but I don't really relax from the others. Its almost a constant day to day struggle. Can someone tell me if I should be worried?
Avatar f tn Hey guys. I have another odd-ish question again. I just recently started taking Paxil, 10mg on Monday. Last night, my husband and I went out without our kids for the first time in months. I had a great night, and before we headed back home, we stopped at a friend's house to say hi and hang for a minute. I was fine for a half hour or so and suddenly, out of nowhere I had a serious panic attack, something I've never experienced before. I had to walk out of the house, and sit in our car.
Avatar m tn Been a while since I posted on here, but having a bad panic attack and its day 12 of paxil I'm taking and the only side affect I have is no feeling in chest. The attack happened out of nowhere and I talked to my doctor yesterday about what's going on with paxil and ativan but still thinks I still need to take them for a few mores weeks but when I do get the attacks i feel that the Ativan is not doing anything, it's like a water pill I'm taking with no affect at all.
Avatar f tn Instead, I ended up in the emergency room, having grand mal seizures over and over, and topped off with a mild heart attack. I seriously thought I had the flu, but when the whole bed starting shaking and the nurse ran off to get the doctor. I fell of the damn bed, and when I finally woke up, I had saline and Valium coursing through my veins. The doctor explained how quickly the withdrawal can set in from Klonopin, and I didn't have the flu, I was withdrawing.
1115678 tn?1258812829 I also have panic attack and anxiety from occasional insomnia. I was on Paxil and Klonopin. Recently I want off Paxil but stay on Klonopin (as needed basis). then I had insomnia and my panic attack came back I went back on Paxil after 4 mos. . However after two weeks of taking Paxil I strated getting severe insomnia for the last three days. Do you or anyone has experienced this situation before?
11323442 tn?1417415103 I went to the hospital and they said I had a panic attack and that I should follow up with a doctor and possibly see a therapist (im the type who holds things in) so I went to the doctor she said the same thing and prescribed me paxil and a anxiety med (paxil made me feel worst) and this was 2 weeks ago and I still have no appetite and I have lost about 10ish lbs in a month......
Avatar f tn Yeah, I'm on Paxil and Xanax and have had one therapy session so far. It's just never happened to me in the middle of the night like that, where I woke up to it.
1709828 tn?1308110802 Anyways, they ran an EKG and the results came back fine, I was prescribed to Paxil.I took paxil for 2 days and then had another bad episode, my body got extremely hot within 2 seconds and my hands went numb. I went to the local doctor and was told everything was fine (they didn't run any tests) but the doctor said I had textbook anxiety symptoms. He than directed me to stop taking paxil because he didn't like the medication and perscribed me to lexapro.
Avatar n tn What happens if i find out im pregnant and am on Paxil? I hear that it is very bad to be on Paxil especially during the first trimester. I definately want to come off of it-but i cant do it cold turkey being that the withdrawal symptoms are pretty bad. If, in the past, i missed a dose-I would begin feeling very dizzy and nauseaus. Im sure this affect or worse wouldnt be good for the baby either. If I ween myself off slowly-im still taking Paxil in my system during the first trimester.
Avatar f tn t ever experienced before havin panic disorder for three years, and since that attack have had a fast heart beat and feeling uneasy, probably traumatised to how bad that attack was even had to call the ambulance took few hours to calm me down, not once have I ever had an attack like that and I before I started Paxil I've been in more stressful situations in life and never had a panic attack that severe.
Avatar n tn from then onwards i always keep thinking that i am about to have a heart problem/heart attack/ stroke.. i used to take paxil for 6 motnhs but never worked, and now i take half a milligram of ativan when it gets bad. but even when its 'not bad', its still kind of bad, considering other people live without these worrying. What also worries me is that by worrying, i am harming my heart.. i feel like im going crazy at times. can anyone relate please?
