Paxil and getting pregnant

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil and getting pregnant

paxil

2065348 tn?1331075207 There's more than one possibility here. If you stopped the Paxil without a sufficient taper off you could have suffered withdrawal -- most people do with this med. It's also quite common with this med for it not to work again once you stop taking it and try to take it again. Nobody would advise you to be on this med when you're pregnant. So it's hard to answer, because Paxil and Effexor are the two most difficult drugs to take and stop taking and Paxil is a very weird drug.
Avatar f tn I know you are going through hell. I have never tried paxil, but I had a horrible time getting on Effexor XR, years ago. It took about three weeks for the side effects to subside. I didn't really feel any benefit until the fourth week. It would suck to go through hell for three weeks only to find you can't take it. It would suck worse if you were only a couple of days away from feeling better and you quit it. Please hang in there as long as you can.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I went to my OB yesterday and since my miscarriage I have been suffering with anxiety and panics. I have not been able to get pregnant since my miscarriage (we have been TTC since February). The Dr. feels my strees/anxiety is a factor. They recommend me going on either Zolaft, Prozac or Paxil. I have heard of some issues with Paxil which they say now studies have shown its okay but I would not want to take the chance since there were issues before...
Avatar m tn m going on 11 years of GAD that have been relatively taken care of until the past few months. I have taken paxil and paxil cr over the years and it has worked great, even when I cut cold turkey and went through nasty withdrawals. I could always count on it working when I went back on. Fastforward to today.... I am starting week #5 of paxil cr (week 1 = paxil cr 12.5, week 2 = paxil cr 25, week 3- current = paxil 37.5) Everywhere I read its just "keep waiting it out.
Avatar n tn DR told me to up my paxil to see if it would go away.Last night I took 7 and a half mg and woke up this morning anxious and nausious.Im not sure if this is normal or not.so if you hear anything please let me know and good luck to you!!
Avatar n tn What happens if i find out im pregnant and am on Paxil? I hear that it is very bad to be on Paxil especially during the first trimester. I definately want to come off of it-but i cant do it cold turkey being that the withdrawal symptoms are pretty bad. If, in the past, i missed a dose-I would begin feeling very dizzy and nauseaus. Im sure this affect or worse wouldnt be good for the baby either. If I ween myself off slowly-im still taking Paxil in my system during the first trimester.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your response. I have not been able to find out any information. However, that may be a good thing as I am suscepible to what I hear. When I got myself off paxil, I purposely avoided websites because I heard they existed that said how horrible it was to get off paxil. I got myself off the paxil in short order. Once I'm off this blasted trazadone, then it will only be one psychiatric med to go: xanex. I'm not looking forward to getting off of that one.
1035021 tn?1296820707 Hi there, I suffer of anxiety attacks and this was increasing my blood pressure very high, I went to see a cardiologist and he gave me XANAX for anxiety cause I wanted to know if this was the main cause of my high blood pressure episodes... At the same time my General Doctor gave me PAXIL for the same thing, telling me that this med was less addictive and will help me for panic attacks and anxiety long term.
Avatar n tn I was on Paxil years ago, and i dont tell to many people this but i got pregnant , and i couldnt stop taking the paxil it had already done damage to the baby, so i had no choice but have an abortion, and now its years later , im married and myself and my hubby are on MH cause we cant get pregnant, but about you i adventually got off of it , it is hard, i got really dizzy couldnt sleep, and was very cranky, now it didnt last to long id say at the most a month.
Avatar m tn t say much about getting off Paxil. Did you have as hard a time as I did. I am off 2 ½ months and have terrible sweating and heart palpitations until this day. Did you have that and did it ever pass? Don't know about the ejac's part as I am female. But, I still to not have desire for sex.
Avatar n tn my daughter is 33 and about 6 weeks pregnant. Gets dry heaves and vomiting She is also being weaned off of Paxil. Can't seem to keep anything down. what can she do and is this normal??
Avatar f tn The reason I started Paxil in the first place was I had a new baby (3 weeks old) and my mom died AND we were moving. Too much stress at once and I ended up in the ER. I have always been an anxious person my whole like, suffering through anxiety but nothing like what I am going through now. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
1618921 tn?1298822821 By doing this you can taper off Paxil and still be able to function in your daily life. You are definitely not the only one going through this, there are many people struggling to be free from antidepressants. If you haven't already visited it, Paxilprogress.org is a great site with lots of people who are in our situation.
Avatar f tn After 4 years of Effexor now, I think she likes it more than the Paxil. Getting on Xffexor, or perhaps getting off Paxil had it moments of unexplained tears, confusion, and forgetfulness. At times her behavior scared me. But after 2 weeks, the symptoms went away and she's been fine. Thanks for your wishes. She's doing great, and got through it much better than I would have! Tom H.
Avatar f tn It takes a lot of courage, strength, and patience to change some things in life, and Paxil is one of them. All this drugs "mess up" the brain, that's their intent -- they alter the way the brain normally functions and it's very hard for some people for the brain to go back to operating normally. But for most people it eventually does, but I suspect the normal trepidation of getting married has added to the difficulty. This probably wasn't the optimal time to stop.
Avatar n tn I took paxil at 40 mg per for about 8 years and it worked great for anxiety and depression. Six months ago I tapered off it, but now have nasty anxiety problems that don't seem to respond to any of the other ssri's. My doc suggested I get back on paxil and I agreed. I had no side effects when I first started taking the drug 8 years ago. Should I expect a similar experience starting it up again? Thanks in advance for the information!
Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for a couple of years now due to some family-counseling issues. I was reluctant to go on them at first. But for my family, I thought I'd try it. It did reduce my anxiety. I slept better, deeper, and longer. A life-long stutterer, it cut my stuttering by 50-75%, and improved how I was viewed at work (I believe), by my calmness, better speech, and ability to focus. I had suffered from significant anxiety my whole life up to that point.
Avatar n tn I am on Paxil at the moment. Getting married in 4 months and would like to switch to a safer med. I would like to know the easiest and safest way to wean off and start another. Which drug would be the best? My GP is really not very much help.
Avatar n tn Thank you! I was wondering how come I hadn't heard from the doc, here! There are not any doctors actually in this assisted living home, but there are doctors' offices up the hill to choose from. We had no idea who to go to, but this doctor said he would work with mama in terms of nutrients, so we chose him. This particular assisted-living home has won awards this year for being the best in the area. We shopped around and she's lived in 3 places before this one.
Avatar n tn There will be days I go ahead and bite off a little bit of a pill and SOMETIMES it helps some and theres times I have to bite off a little more. But I still have the dizziness. Its just hard to explain even though I know You may have gone through it too.
Avatar f tn hi all. I've been on anxiety/depression meds for two years now. lately it seems my depression is getting worse. I lost my only child, a son, nearly two years ago. if my problems had started then, I could understand, but started before that and only got worse. I've had the Paxil dosage increased once already and wondering if I should get it increased again, or try something different. any thoughts?
Avatar f tn He has never suffered from anxiety before. His shrink upped the Paxil to 20mg and gave him a low dose of xanax (0.25mg and later 0.5mg) to take as needed. He also takes clonozapan as needed, but both these drugs make him fuzzy or put him to sleep, so he can't function/work when he takes them. The past week has been horrendous. He wakes up terrified! Sweating, heart racing, crying, and terrified to leave the house.
