paxil and dry mouth

I am in constant worry over my dry mouth and taste problems. I went to the doctor and he looked at my mouth and said that it looked normal. I am being treated for anxiety. I would like to know if anyone else has had these problems and if they are associated with anxiety. I have been through this in the past and was told it was anxiety, but I can't stop worrying about it. I recently quit drinking 10 days ago and I have been smoking alot more now. Help!!

t gotten nose bleeds since i was a kid...i stopped that and went to bed...my mouth was so dry ...was up every hour with awful dry mouth....so thats that...i'm looking for something else....a friend of mine said he took a pink pill...wasn't sure what it was...my daughter says shes noticed folks with allergies tend to be more sensitive to drugs...she said maybe celexal...any suggestions????? thanks......

I have been on paxil several yrs. now and as far as side effects all I had was dry mouth and sexual probs.. since I am not with anyone at the time it doesnt matter at the moment LOL...As far as weight gain I gained but it was due to other meds than the paxil at this time because when I took it several yrs b4 my kids I didnt gain any weight..For me the paxil has been a lifesaver and its been on the market several yrs now..So, it can be trusted alot more than these new meds that are comming out..

I was on cipralex (lexapro in the US) for almost 3 years and initially experienced some dry mouth, but no extreme side effects at all. It worked amazingly for me. I started on 10mg and then doubled to 20mg after 1 year. I recently switched to Paxil about 1 month ago, and have really disliked the way it makes me feel. My anxiety has been much worse and the side effects are just awful. It has been so much worse than cipralex.

t know the half of it with Paxil and Effexor. An incompetent psychiatrist took me off Paxil incorrectly, and three years later I'm still a goner. No life left. Irony is, I went off it to try natural remedies, and they had the reverse effect after withdrawal. Your doctor would know by asking questions which ones would work the best for you based on how you generally feel. Some basic side effects of any antidepressant is weight gain, vivid dreams, dry mouth, constipation, nausea, anxiety, loss of libido (this is a big one), etc). If you wean off an anti-depressant correctly, there are little to no side effects and they are NOT addictive.

Hi there, good for you for wanting to stop everything. I do agree with one of the other posters but that it may be too much to stop everything at once. However I know how it is when you finally get fed up of it all and just want to be rid of it all. I was on Prozac for about a week and I couldn't take it. I just felt so weird and isolated from the rest of the world. I had to stop it. My doctor later prescribed me Paxil and after reading all the side effects I couldn't risk it.

I did some basic Google searching, and the Paxil website does list sweating, dizziness and nervousness as possible side effects, so perhaps you were just suffering Paxil effects, not blood-sugar effects. If you want to go back on the Paxil for the vertigo, ask your specialist about these side effects and your pre-diabetes state. Only he/she would be qualified to properly figure that out. First, I had a dry nose and mouth throughout the entire 48 weeks and also for a month and a half after finishing Tx. At times my mouth was so dry I could not swallow, especially at night. My nose was also dry and crusty inside. Disgusting. Hope you are not eating, LOL. I measured my water and, in order to get the 1 gallon a day (4 liters), I was constantly drinking, day and night. Even without the measuring, I would have been drinking because my mouth was parched and I could not swallow.

Boy, never heard of that one. As for Celexa, it depends on the person. It sedated me some but nothing like Paxil and imipramine did. But I've read that others have been agitated by Paxil. These drugs are just weird.

I get headaches, terrified feeling, weak right hand and arm, feel uncoordinated, stiff neck, dry mouth. And I freak out. I always think its something terrible. And then i freak out more. I too have an HIV phobia. I have posted before. My life is heck right now. I am in constant worry that I got it 10 or so years ago. I tested back in 1996 and 2003. I donated blood in 2004, 2005 and 2006. All negative. I have been with my husband since 2002 and no one else. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and had a complete physical and another HIV test. All bloodwork came back normal except my cholesterol and the HIV test was negative. I have been given Paxil for anxiety.

I was having tunnel vision, voices sounded far away, my mouth became very dry, my whole body felt numb and tingly. I thought I was dying. I have been on Paxil for several years and I believe I forgot to take it the last 2 days. Could this have been withdrawal symptoms so soon? Thank you.

I have been everywhere on the web and here and nothing seems to fit, until i did some research and saw that dry mouth is sympotmatic of diabetes. Can anyone shed some light? Its more of an inconvenience than anything else. I can still swallow, doesnt affect taste, throat isnt sore, sleeping is not a problem. During the medicine for the reflux I start to have dry mouth and toothache . The toothache went off after 2 weeks and dry mouth is start around .My tongue started to have strange and irradiated feeling like scalding tongue and the upper wall of my mouth also have irradiated feeling . Now I start to have bloated stomach .I really don't know what the main cause of this . Is it anxiety ,reflux or other illness .

Then I started oil pulling bc I looked up dry mouth and throat and some pretty weird things came up. Like sorts of gum disease. Oil pulling helps kill and pull all the toxins out of your mouth. I'm much better now. Still a little dry but I can sleep. Then about my hip (left side) I started stretching (the best I could lol) and made sure I had lots and lots of back,belly and leg support which really helped. I am a 47 year old woman with terrible dry mouth. I have had several tests and the doctor can't find anything in the blood tests. This is miserable! Could this be a symptom of perimenopause and is there some type of medication that could help? I have tried many over the counter remedies and nothing seems to help.

Yea I have dry mouth and nose. I was getting a bloody nose bcuz it was dry. Try using a humidifier.

Is it actually the feeling of being thirsty or just having a dry mouth? If your mouth is feeling dry try sucking on a hard candy or swishing your mouth out with water or mouthwash. If you feel like you are dehydrated unless you drink that much water that warrants a visit with the doc. As coffeebuzz said that can be an indicator of many different issues including diabetes or kidney issues to name a few. How often are you using the bathroom?

I did some research for you and found out that dry mouth can be a symptom of opiate withdrawal. I read that you can suck on ice cubes, chew gum or mints BUT it will pass with time. There is also special toothpaste for those with excessive dry mouth.

t seem to get rid of my thirst. I will drink. Until. My stomach hurts and I still feel dry. I hardly ever drink enough and when I am pregnant I try to drink enough and the way I know I am drinking enough is that I won't be thirsty. I just wish that I did not feel like I am thirsting to death. I even feel light headed and dizzy. And tired which is normal this early in pregnancy but it makes me feel like I am really thirsting to death. Glad to know I am not the only dried out pregnant woman.

But I just cannot drink enough water to make my dry throat and mouth feel better. I drink and then immediately it feels desert dry..... Any thoughts would be appreciated!
