paxil and cortisol

m on my fourth week on Paxil. I started with 5 mg the first 3 weeks and just increased to 10 mg this last week. I noticed that my anxiety actually increased this week. I'm guessing its becasue I'm taking a higher dose. When will it kick it? And when should I try a new med?

I was majorly depressed as a teen and the depression has come back full force. The paxil helps a little bit but it just isn't helping enough. Has anyone tried these or any other natural remedies?

I take a whole pill of buspar when i wake up in the morning and i take a pill of paxil and another whole pill of buspar at about 10ish..

I am on Paxil 30mg daily, and have been for 8 years. Normally, I am fine, sleep well, moods good. But, about 1 or 2 times a year, if I get sick with cold/flu, I start to have insomnia and feel like I am on nothing for my depression. It almost feels like I am starting over. I have to take nerve meds/ sleep pill to get over the hurdle, which can take 2-4 weeks. I almost think it has something to do with taking Motrin while i am sick. make sense?

That being said, your symptoms sound to me, a layman, more like high cortisol than low - so getting more cortisol in any form would only add fuel to the fire. Cortisol goes up and down and it sounds like your diurnal rhythm is off which is why you are tired during the day and ok at night - your cycle is reversed. That is more like Cushing's and not AI. Most endo's think that is rare and do not know how to test for it.

I take paxil 25 cr now and it is working pretty good. My doc upped me to 37.5 and I noticed no difference either so went back down to 25 without a problem. I think as long as you are taking paxil going down on dose is not an issue, it's if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch.

From the research online I found out that paxil changes sperm DNA that reduces permeability and as a result reduces the chance for pregnancy.

I just found this, and I wanted to make a comment on the chance there are anxiety sufferers who are also being treated for breast cancer. It make be a well know issue now, but when my wife began Tamoxifen treatment following her breast cancer surgery and radiation, I saw an article on TV regarding drug interaction between Paxil and Tamoxifen. We immediately mentioned it to my wife's oncologist, and he initially dismissed it and told my wife to continue to take the two drugs as prescribed.

What happens if i find out im pregnant and am on Paxil? I hear that it is very bad to be on Paxil especially during the first trimester. I definately want to come off of it-but i cant do it cold turkey being that the withdrawal symptoms are pretty bad. If, in the past, i missed a dose-I would begin feeling very dizzy and nauseaus. Im sure this affect or worse wouldnt be good for the baby either. If I ween myself off slowly-im still taking Paxil in my system during the first trimester.

He has never suffered from anxiety before. His shrink upped the Paxil to 20mg and gave him a low dose of xanax (0.25mg and later 0.5mg) to take as needed. He also takes clonozapan as needed, but both these drugs make him fuzzy or put him to sleep, so he can't function/work when he takes them. The past week has been horrendous. He wakes up terrified! Sweating, heart racing, crying, and terrified to leave the house.

Hello. Does anyone in this group take Paxil and crave alcohol? I do and never did before....I told my Dr. and he said Paxil doesn't cause alcohol cravings. He also wants to keep me on Paxil..I just want off it..

I don't know if it's Paxil or the seizures. I didn't start having seizures until I was on Paxil for a little while, and I didn't have short term memory loss until after I started taking Paxil. It all correlates to the same time. I'm concerned because I have read other people having the same complaint about it. I am seeing a doctor this coming Monday, though, to find out for sure. I shouldn't have to be 22 years old with a worse memory than my grandmother.

I have an anxeity disorder that triggers OCD and Paxil has worked very very well and given me a great life since being on it. I figure I should try something different to see if it helps the weight gain and if Zoloft doesn't work, or help me to lose the weight then I will have to cut off the wine and go back on Paxil. Suffering from Anxiety *****, but I would take the weight gain over feeling freaky all the time!

t heard much about doing it the other way around. And why Paxil and not Prozac or Lexapro? Lots of questions here. Sounds like your main problem, from the meds you're on, has been diagnosed as depression, not anxiety. True? If so, you might get better help on the depression forum.

RA is that reacurring anxiety?? To answer your question only ur doctor will be able to say whether it will help YOU! but in theory it should help cause Paxil is used to control anxiety disorders as well as depression. 20 years to be on Paxil is a long time, you must of been put on the drug when it very first came onto the market. Also did you tapper off slowly or come off quick? it could be a rebound effect from not having the drug. Best to have a chat with your doc.

I did some basic Google searching, and the Paxil website does list sweating, dizziness and nervousness as possible side effects, so perhaps you were just suffering Paxil effects, not blood-sugar effects. If you want to go back on the Paxil for the vertigo, ask your specialist about these side effects and your pre-diabetes state. Only he/she would be qualified to properly figure that out. I was on Paxil for a few months and came off and experienced massive withdrawal, worse then my previous Loratab addiction. I came off cold turkey but immediately switched to Zoloft. I was on a high dose of Paxil. The only ache I had was a massive headache 24/7. Massive!! I went back on Paxil for two weeks and I'm off again but it's odd that I have no headache but I have the most horrible back pain. I never had this before starting Paxil.

I do not know if michael has taken Paxil, but i did take it for over 8 years and let me tell you paxil put me through hell and one of the side effects was heart palpittions.There are many side effects from paxil that many people are not aware of. SO do your research. There are so many great web sites out there, one is paxilprogress.

I've been on Paxil for 10 years off and on and for almost two years straight now. I've noticed marked fatigue right after I take my medication for the last month or so and I'm wondering whats up. I can't see my doctor for two months. Has anyone had a common occurence?

I thought i was on zoloft with the paxil...but my doctor checked and it is paxil and wellbutrin...been on both since Sept. he decided the paxil alone wasn't working and added wellbutrin...but to me i do have the symptons as if i were on zoloft which the dr. said i wasn't...nurse didn't call me back after she got it straight with the dr. that i am on paxil and wellbutrin...maybe tomorrow. if not i will check with the pharmacy. thanks so much for caring.
