No not doing this on my own I was prescribed by my new doctor ativan paxil and a beta blocker, but at the moment taking only the ativan cause I'm still trying to work my way up to take the paxil and the xanax I used to take before all these but it's not prescribed to me it's prescribed to my grandfather Inlaw but am only taking one of those every night to help with sleep and it does.
First, you need a different doctor. It's always problematic to treat mental illness with a general doc rather than a psychiatrist you talk to first and believe isn't a clown -- psychiatrists can be pretty bad too. Any doctor who tells you it's okay to just stop Ativan, and uses Paxil as the first antidepressant to try, is a doctor to leave behind. Terrible advice and probably malpractice about the Ativan. It needs to be tapered off slowly no matter what else you do.
I do think increasing the Paxil will help, and doing this is very common as our bodies adapt to the medication and it becomes less effective. I'm not sure why they gave you both ativan and propanolol, I would think it would be one or the other. Maybe the propanolol was given to help with any withdrawal from the xanax. I don't feel that your PCP is the best one to prescribe these types of meds, a psychiatrist is more knowledgeable and would know what is best.
I take paxil 25 cr now and it is working pretty good. My doc upped me to 37.5 and I noticed no difference either so went back down to 25 without a problem. I think as long as you are taking paxil going down on dose is not an issue, it's if you go off all at once but my son who is 14 and has just developed panic attacks was put on zoloft 50 mgs and it has helped him. I took zoloft first but gave me gastro problems so doc wanted me to switch.
Been a while since I posted on here, but having a bad panic attack and its day 12 of paxil I'm taking and the only side affect I have is no feeling in chest. The attack happened out of nowhere and I talked to my doctor yesterday about what's going on with paxil and ativan but still thinks I still need to take them for a few mores weeks but when I do get the attacks i feel that the Ativan is not doing anything, it's like a water pill I'm taking with no affect at all.
After a trip to the dr I was diagnosed with anxiety. My primary doctor prescribed me paxil and ativan. I stopped taking the paxil and was told to just stay on the ativan. A few weeks after starting to take the ativan I started getting jittery inside when the medicine was wearing off. My therapist informed me that with ativan you can feel the withdrawal while coming down. Around the summer time I was feeling better and was able to wean my self off.
ve been having more panic attacks and depression is making it worse and I called my doctor and explained all this but only said to keep taking it for a few more weeks and the ativan that was prescribed to me as well but has not affect on me since I've been takin that for a while month now and still nothing from it that calms me. The affects from the paxil right now are chest numb no emotions and memory lost .
While my panic attacks have subsided, I have been ruled by excessive worrying, especially about my health. I have been to the doctor several times (and put on Paxil), and I am healthy. I cannot seem to overcome this worrying. Anytime I have a strange pain, I worry that something could be seriously wrong. The worrying is becoming so overwhelming that I worry about worrying, as crazy as that may sound. I try everything I can to calm my mind, but it is always an underlying burden.
I have had Costrochondritis since Dec 2015. I also have anxiety. I'm on ativan and Paxil. I just upped my dose of Paxil to 10 mg about 6 days ago. Since I have,the burning in my chest is much worse. I also have ulcerative colitis. But its in remission. Can Paxil cause burning in your chest? Or more anxiety?
My OBYGN gave me prescription for Ativan and Paxil. I was so scared to take the Ativan because of having some type of reaction from it. Finally today broke down and took it and it helped but seven hours later I'm starting to feel shaky again. I have not started the Paxil yet because I'm just nervous about taking it. I hate the way I'm feeling, it's interrupting my life. I just have never had this "doom and gloom" feeling and such so shaky inside.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good anxiety drug other than Paxil, Effexor or Lexapro. I was on Paxil for years and it worked well for me but my doctor switched me to Lexapro which made me extremely sick as did Effexor. Anyway, now I am about to go back on Paxil because it was the only drug that really worked for me and didn't make me sick but I have one problem.
When I first started suffering from anxiety, I was prescribed Ativan and it nearly ruined my life. I became completely numb, followed by episodes of severe anxiety. After one month, when I realized that the Ativan was making me sicker, I went of immediately. I suffered some withdrawal symptoms and later learned that going "cold turkey" was not a good idea.
I began to get better, despite the withdrawal, but a few months later I had some very stressful experiences.
Hi I am on ativan to relax and eventually you will get use to the meds your doctor put you on. In the beginning I slept alot then after a couple of weeks my body got use to it. I now take 3mgs of ativan a day along with generic paxil. I have to say i have been feeling pretty good lately. Like everyone says just hang in there give the meds time. They will work just give them time.
As I said, I have been feeling good, and feel that I have no reason to feel anxious today, this is all I can think of. Currently, I take 10mg of Lexapro, and 1.5mg of Ativan a day. I would like to cut out the Ativan, but I recently started a new job, which is stressful enough. So I want to be sure I am comfortable there before I start messing with meds.

Alright so the came to the house last night and put me on these 3 pills Ativan Paxil and some kinda beta blocker what I don't know the name of, but the only thing I've been taking was Ativan cause it's the first one I've taken and trying my best to take the next pills which is the Paxil but the other pill the beta blocker I only take at night but didn't even take but my problem right now is I've been takin the Ativan twice a day for the past 3 days so far but it seems lik
I was prescribed paxil and ativan originally. I tried the paxil for one day and did not like the side effects it was giving me. So I went to counseling to try and get over this without taking medications. Well a couple of weekends ago I had a really bad weekend. I went to my doctor because I was having abdominal pains and was thinking it was something serious (which is what my anxiety problem is: health concerns).
Thanks for the input, I was on prozac last spring, and had an awful reaction, it took a few doses of xanex and ativan to get me out of it, after hours in the ER.. I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and have for over 20 years. I was on ZOloft for 14 or so years and it pooped out on me the fall of 2013 and ever since looking for the same wonder drug zoloft gave me...
