Avatar m tn I bought a bottle of Patanol eye drops about a month and three weeks ago, I found the box a couple days ago and noticed on the box that it says discard thirty days after opening... The expiry date on the bottle says 01-2011.. Is this bad that I used the eye drops three weeks after it was suppose to be discarded? I only used three quaters of the bottle. I paid a little over fifty dollars for this little 5 mL bottle.... But what can you do....
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar m tn When he was checking me, he diagnosed me with Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis and put me on patanol eye drops - he said I was allergic to the contacts I was wearing and said that the pain I felt on my left eye was because I had a foreign body in that eye and my left eye is more sensitive than before. I explained to him that my right eye was fine and he told me that my right eye actually hurts just the same but it's overshadowed by the pain in my left eye.
Avatar n tn My eyes become itchy and watery. I have used patanol in the past but the eye Dr is now recommending patasol which is very expensive. I want to try Zyrtec d instead of Zyrtec which gives me some releif. Any other suggestions are appreciated.
Avatar n tn The only change I have made in my life style is to take Patanol eye drops for allergy eyes. I have been using them once daily for 4 months. Could it be that this antihistamine can be causing this increase in my blood pressure? I am allergic to the drugs used for controling blood pressure and prior to this successfully lowered my pressure by exercise and diet.It is normal for me to have a reading of 130 over 80. I am 59 years old. I weigh 110 pounds. I am 5 foot 6 inches tall.
Avatar n tn have an eye allergy and sometimes (once a week) I have to take steriod drops because my eye becomes red and swollen and itchy. Otherwise I use patanol. My doc prescribed me Vitreolent for the cataracts but I already use too many drops that irritate and dry my eyes, I don't know what to do so I also have to use artifical tears. My question is: 1. Can my cataracts be caused by the steroids or the other drops I use? 2. I have 20/20 so how can I still see and have cataracts? 3.
Avatar f tn I will also do the drops. I have a prescription for patanol eye drops that I use during the fall hayfever season. It is odd though my eyes are Never this bad during hayfever season!
Avatar n tn i went to the doctors yesterday and after i did some research on the two drops you mentioned and i found patanol eye drops here on prescription in australia, which contains the same active ingredient as pataday drops just in a two drops twice a day method because its only 1mg not 2.22mg like pataday, i have done 2 doses of the drops and on my lord they are awesome! the redness has settled right down much quicker than in the past!
Avatar m tn Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. Also put topical antihistaminic or steroid eye drops after consulting an ophthalmologist as his prescription is required for these. In future, to reduce dust in your home, remove drapes, feather pillows, upholstered furniture, non-washable comforters and soft toys. Replace carpets with linoleum or wood. Vacuum soft furniture and curtains as well as floor.

Avatar f tn m a woman (mid-40s) in good health--no regular medications except for Patanol eye drops and Zyrtec for allergies. Prior to this incident, I was told I have some mild scarring (or an "opacity") at the top of my corneas, possibly from years of wearing contact lenses. I did not not have contacts in at the time of this mishap.
Avatar m tn i may have taken ofloxacin and prednisolone eye drops in my eye 5 times in a day instead of the 4 times like i was supposed to do.will it cause any harm?
Avatar m tn I am using patanol and vigamox. Problem is i have like a white discharge on my eye and it does not like to come out. I use a hot compress twice a day then i try to rinse my eye and flush my eye as well. Nothing it just remains in my eye. Most of the time i go to bed and it still there. Avatar f tn I recommend you to visit your doctor's clinic to get detailed information about how to take acular eye drops & its dosage. A specialist in eye caring will going to suggest you in better way.
Avatar n tn So I kept having the same problems and went back to him multiple times, he gave me drops, the eye problems came back, then I repeated the process. Then finally around that following January, I went to the ophthalmologist. He gave me more drops, and said it might be the dorm I was staying in since it was an old dorm. I did the drops and like usual the problems persisted. So after I got out of that dorm at the end of the year I hoped that the eye problems would stop; well they didn't.
Avatar n tn Allergies are an immune system problem, and can be very difficult to treat. This is a problem of an overactive immune system that is treating non-harmful materials as harmful. One way to deal with it is to try an elimination diet, where you get rid of most everything you eat and slowly add in foods one at a time, since food allergies are quite common.
Avatar m tn I have beenbattling this for six weeks now and my main symptoms are puffy eyelids with a red eyelid margin, red eye that comes and goes slightly itching (today a lot in one eye) and slight burning- especially when I use a computer which is about 6 hours a day.
Avatar f tn My significant other has caught pink eye and has had it for approximately two weeks now. In the first few days, he had the typical symptoms: redness in the eyes, a little swelling, some itching. After those few days up until now, he's become highly sensitive to light, his eye lids are very swollen, his eyes are highly irritable he can barely keep them open, and what's worse is that the thin membrane covering his eye balls appears to have 'blistered'.
Avatar m tn My eyes constantly have redness in them, mostly the outsides & the left one is more red than the right. How do I get rid of the redness in my eyes (without powerful medication). I'm already using an anti-allergy drop (Zaditor) which doesn't help THAT much. I've used Patanol before too. How can I get rid of the redness?
Avatar m tn Then he gave me anti inflamitory eye drops which did nothing and then he tried me on allegery eye drops which did nothing. He finally gave me steroid eye drop (Torbradex and then FML) These work to make my eyes 100% back to normal but as soon as i stop them with a few days later they start getting bad again. The doctor said long term use of steroid eye drops is bad and can cause problems so he has reciently taken me off of these drops and my eye are worse then ever.
Avatar m tn He has been on an oral antihistimine (claritin) for many years and uses Patanol and theratears. He was told he could no longer wear contact lenses (that's fine) and hasn't since his diagnoses. There is little change to his GPC even after using a prescription eye drop with steroids and antibiotic. His opthamologist never asked if he used any face cleanser. He uses a 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash, in addition to Clearasil pads.
Avatar m tn Initially I used Xalatan for 1 year and then my doctor did a small laser procedure to open up the cornea in my eyes to let the fluid out which has kept the eye pressure under 16 or so. Currently I am using Patanol and its only for occasional use. As per my doctor ,My glaucoma has not spread at all and it is in same condition when diagnosed.I am currently 33 and according to my doctor,I am a unique case.
