Common Questions and Answers about Partial hysterectomy recovery surgery

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn I just had a repair in combination with a laparoscopic partial hysterectomy. I am on day 3 post surgery and off all pain meds except the Motrin 800 which is more to reduce swelling. I would not have done repair if my hysterectomy was not medically necessary even though it was bothersome it was not life threatening. Overall not in much pain from the repair.

Avatar n tn I have been having problems for the past 6 years started after I got tubes tied then had to go in for a partial hysterectomy and just 4 days ago had to go in and have my ovary's taken out and today I woke up with major back pain and stomach cramping
Avatar n tn a uterus removal is a hard surgery as far as recovery and emotions ..but you (anyone) can live quite well with out the uterus. Please update us when you can.
Avatar f tn Obviously, a Hysterectomy or partial is much more invasive and requires a much longer healing process~
Avatar f tn I am a 36 year old who had to have a hysterectomy 8 years ago due to uncontrollable bleeding.. partial hysterectomy.. my ovaries, tubes, and part of my uterus are still intact.. cervix is gone.. factory closed.. haha.... recently I have had tremendous pains in the lower left quadrant of my abdomen, and this as of late coincides with bleeding vaginally.. bright red blood, so it's not "old" blood..
Avatar f tn Write these questions down so when you see the surgeon he/she will be able to answer them. The recovery time will depend on how invasive they are with the surgery. Are they leaving your ovaries?
Avatar n tn i just recently within the past week had a partial hysterectomy with one ovary and uterus remove. I am having hot flashes and chills along with night sweats.
Avatar f tn The DaVinci Robot adds a helpful tool for complex surgery such as radical cancer surgery (radical hysterectomy) or surgery on people who may be challenging because of their size (very over weight).
Avatar f tn It has been 1 yr and 4 months after my Partial Hysterectomy, It took a good 4 - 6 months to completely heal. I had a Partial Hysterectomy because my Gyn said I had Endometriosis. I had my Uterus and my Cervix removed. They left both my ovaries. They had to leave my ovaries, because I have Essential Thrombocytosis (ET), (which is a platelet disorder, My bone Marrow produces too many platelets in my blood, causing clotting). I take meds to lower my platelet count.
Avatar f tn I had stage 4 precancerous cells and had a partial hysterectomy. After the surgery the doctor told my mom it was HPV. Since I had the partial hysterectomy would I still have HPV or would it have been removed? Also, I just found out I have elevated liver enzymes. Could this be fromm the HPV?
Avatar f tn I am scheduled next week to have a robotic, laprascopic partial hysterectomy. The reason... continuous bleeding thru out the month, with only a few days of a break. I check out completely normal, I am just so tired of this.I am insulin diabetic and 48 yrs old, my husband & I have a great sex life, but have read that there is a good chance that I will lose the ability to have an orgasm I seem to be more clitorally stimulated, I need to know the truth before I proceed with surgery.
1510783 tn?1290096307 moodiness most always after any surgery, this is a serious surgery the recovery is not fun, but think of the end goal you will finally be pain free, its wonderful and personally I sure dont miss the monthly at all....some /rare/ ladies get post tramatic surgical issues,.,this is usually women who dont have a support system at home,,,ask for help accept those who offer if someone can be with you first 48 hrs that would be good I couldnt even put my own socks on...
Avatar f tn I just had a partial hysterectomy due to a VERY large Hem-ridging, blood filled cyst also EXTREME endometriosis. I have to go on a shot once a month and birth control to help slow down the growing and spreading of my major endometriosis, if we don't get it under control my OB said I will have to have a complete hysterectomy. also we have to stop my periods for awhile. I was wondering if anyone can relate to this, what your experiences were and if I can still have kids.
Avatar f tn You'll be fine! I had a significant surgery last year. I am an anxiety/PVC sufferer. I was pretty worried but did great. I was under general for about 3 hours. Woke up in recovery just fine. Anxiety and PVCs were minimal. You'll get through it just fine.
Avatar f tn Do ask your doctor but I would imagine you would be able to after the first week but might want to arrange for the little car to drive you around as you will be very sore and very tired. You might also want to ask this question on the hysterectomy forum. Good luck with your surgery.
Avatar f tn Incisional pain subsides gradually over the first month post-surgery. Many patients report a sensation of numbness on the left side of their chest which results from the dissection of the internal mammary artery. Some patients can barely wear a shirt for a few weeks following their surgery due to a hyperesthesia over their sternal skin. Fortunately, all these malaises subside within 1 or 2 months post surgery.
Avatar n tn This is caused by the air they pump into while having the surgery. It is not that big of a deal. I had my surgery on a Wednesday and came back to work on Friday. I have a sit down job so it was not a problem. I have not gone through menepause yet, because I am taking an hrt. I have had absolutely no problems or pain since the day I had it.
285896 tn?1237211227 Err---I didn't mean TOTAL hysterectomy. I was referring to the partial (leaving the ovaries) so you don't have to take hormone replacement meds.
Avatar f tn Can they address the issues with a partial hysterectomy? I did a LOT of research on partial hysterectomy. The possible issues they were testing me for were fibroids, adenemyosis and polyps. All are correctable by simply removing the uterus, some being correctable by D&C and ablation. After looking into the procedure, I realized that a partial hysterectomy would be ideal, if the test results prove that I have fibroids and/or adenemyosis.
637356 tn?1301924822 I had a partial hysterectomy on November 3, 2007, and now I am having some of the same pains I had before the surgery. I feel as if I am being kicked down there. Not in my stomach but in my vagina. That is the only way I can explain the pain. It is throbbing pain and almost feels like someone with steel toe shoes has kicked me down there. It comes and goes and is so intense it stops me in my tracks and has me wanting to ball up with pain.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had or heard of anyone that has had a partial hysterectomy (cervix, uterus and tubes removed-ovaries left) instead of a tubal? I have heard so many horror stories of heavy periods after a tubal, and mentioned that concern to my OB/GYN. I currently use the Nuvaring, but we are sure we are finished having kids, and I would like to get off hormones (I get the automatic 5lb weight gain). My OB/GYN recommended the partial hysterectomy.
