Avatar f tn Ive been switched from Paroxetine to Zoloft as am looking to try for a baby and this is supposed to be 'safer'. My doctor has changed me over gradually. I took Paroxetine 20mg for 2 weeks plus Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg, then went to Paroxetine 10mg and Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg and 5 days ago I've stopped Paroxetine altogether and am now just on Zoloft 50mg...I've went to the doctors yesterday because I feel terrible terrible - headaches, feeling incredibly depressed and crazy!
Avatar f tn I have been weaning off Paxil from Paxil CR 25 mg, now on Paxil 10 mg (to avoid withdrawal) because I have been on for probably 10 years now. Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks on the lower dose I feel my lack of motivation, melancholy feelings, being less able to handle frustration with work etc all coming back. I really do not want to go back up on my dose of Paxil since it has such severe withdrawal effects if I ever go off it again.
Avatar n tn As you probably know, there are relatively fewer problems with Remeron withdrawal than with other agents (especially paroxetine and venlafaxine) but that knowledge doesn't help you. What kind of symptoms are you having right now? The usual therapeutic dose for Lexapro is 10 mg, 7.5 mg might also be therapeutic for some people, but it is almost impossible to find a way to take that dose.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been perscribed Paroxetine for their neuropothy symptoms? I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues.
Avatar m tn I've been on Paxil, i.e. Paroxetine for about 6 years now. I ran out about 5 days ago. As has happened in the past after quitting Paxil my sleep is interrupted with such stressful nightmares. I mean I wake up and I am either screaming and my heart rate goes sky high. I am a about 3 days from when i can get another refill. I don't think i can make it and have so much to do this week during the day. When I call my doctors office and especially on call, they go berzerk.
Avatar m tn Also, it sounds like you are certain that you have anxiety and depression, and that is what the paroxetine is for. And paroxetine does not particularly have a reputation for keeping people awake at night, at least not that I have ever heard of. So I don't know about getting off paroxetine and staying on the amphetamine, when you're not sure you even have ADHD, and amphetamines are well known for causing insomnia.
Avatar n tn I still feel the electric shocks and muscle aches from the withdrawal of my previous antidepressant (paroxetine) and I started getting a pounding heartfrom the seroquel. I went to see my gp who reduced my seroquel to seroquel xl 50 mg and I am to go back in a week to her, while I do not see the psychiatrist again for 5 weeks. My palpitations have stopped but the mood swings and depression have returned to just how they were before I reduced the dose. I do not know what to do..
Avatar f tn After six weeks, symptoms of depression decreased 57% in the group taking hyperforin-rich Hypericum and only 45% in the group taking paroxetine. Patients taking Hypericum were 42% less likely than patients taking paroxetine to experience negative side effects. The researchers concluded that, "In the treatment of moderate to severe major depression, Hypericum extract... is at least as effective as paroxetine and is better tolerated.
Avatar m tn Google protracted withdrawal syndrome. Only way to prevent is by tapering. Just because you had a relatively easy time doesn't mean you should counsel others to do the same, as they might not be so lucky. I surely wasn't. I'm glad you came through so well, in fact I'm really happy about it. But let's not generalize it; better to play it safe. Also google withdrawal sites.
Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for a couple of years now due to some family-counseling issues. I was reluctant to go on them at first. But for my family, I thought I'd try it. It did reduce my anxiety. I slept better, deeper, and longer. A life-long stutterer, it cut my stuttering by 50-75%, and improved how I was viewed at work (I believe), by my calmness, better speech, and ability to focus. I had suffered from significant anxiety my whole life up to that point.
Avatar f tn Hello. I've recently been changed from Paroxetine to Zoloft as am looking to try for a baby and this is supposed to be 'safer'. My doctor has changed me over gradually. All I want to do is cry and lay in bed.

This was given to me by Doctor for 4 to 5 months. I am having the problem of Pseudovertigo as per doctors opinion. Physically I fee imbalance and never fell down due to vertigo/giddiness. Avatar f tn paroxetine is contraindicated in women who may become pregnant due to its teratogenicity and its high risk of withdrawal syndrome in both adults and neonates" Thus I always recommend seeing a good psychiatrist for proper treatment. There may be medications you can take that don't cause problems. Little ones are just the greatest. They will keep you occupied and take your mind off yourself for sure. Take care of yourself for them.. God Bless!

Avatar m tn I took the paroxetine that did well for a while then the cipralex that does not do anything to me is so confused. After that I did insomnia, the doctor giving me the zolpidem which obviously and that made me sick I am very scared.
Avatar f tn A question -- were you on the Lexapro and Celexa for a long time, and did you taper off slowly or did you stop cold turkey and switch to the Zoloft? Because if you did the latter, you could be suffering withdrawal from the old drugs and that will make it hard to determine if it's a side effect of the Zoloft or a withdrawal effect. Switching to another drug even in the same category will not be equivalent, as they target different receptors and don't work the same.
Avatar f tn The sensation down the arms when turning your head sounds like the L'Hermitte's Sign. Causes of this sign include MS, transverse myelitis, Behçet's disease, trauma, radiation myelopathy, vitamin B12 deficiency, cervical spondylosis, disc herniation, tumour, Arnold-Chiari malformation, "discontinuation syndrome" associated with certain psychotropic medications particularly Paroxetine and Venlafaxine.
486038 tn?1300063367 t know if you remember , but Six weeks after being jerked off of the Zoloft that I had been on for 14 years and abruptly switched to Paroxetine the next day without any taper, My vision went haywire and that was the start of this whole mess with me! I as much as anyone can really believe that SSRI's can have these kinds of effects!!! Did you discontinue the Cymbalta? If so how long have you been off of it?
Avatar m tn Over the last 6 months I have been experiencing a huge amount of financial and job stress, such that my doctor was concerned enough to put me on Paroxetine HCL (Paxil), starting at 25mg and now 30mg. It is the first drug I have taken for treatment of my issues since 1995 when I was on Xanax for 6 months. I started forgetting to take my pill over the last week or two, and over last weekend just gave up on it, because I just don't feel it's doing anything productive.
1035021 tn?1296820707 After that my general doctor send me for blood analysis and everything was ok but the blood pressure and she told me that was due to the remainings of the DXM. So she medicate me with CAPTOPRIL by nights and PAROXETINE by mornings, I will really appreciate your opinion about this meds interaction cause as far as I know PAROXETINE is a SSRI like TRAMADOL and I don't know if they can be taken together. Thank you by advance!
Avatar m tn I have also suffered with Panic Disorder and Panic Attacks since 1982, for which I take Paroxetine and Lithium Carbonate. And Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), for which I take Omeprazole. My doctor has also prescribed Xanax (0.5 mg), as needed for the panic. My problem is that I'm afraid to stop taking the Hydro, due to the panic attacks which occur if I try to stretch out the time between doses.
Avatar m tn There have been postmarketing reports of serotonin syndrome when linezolid was given with or soon after the discontinuation of serotonergic drugs, particularly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as paroxetine and sertraline.[9][110][111][112] It may also enhance the blood pressure-increasing effects of sympathomimetic drugs such as pseudoephedrine or phenylpropanolamine.
Avatar n tn Combining fluoxetine or paroxetine with phenytoin can also lead to increased phenytoin side effects and reduce blood levels of paroxetine. You really need to discuss the potential drug interactions with your own doctor.
