Avatar n tn But one study suggested that there might be differences in weight gain due to the different types of SSRI. Paroxetine (Paxil) may be more likely cause a significant weight gain than other drugs of this type (like fluoxetine or sertraline). Studies about citalopram found no significant weight changes for most patients (but a minority of about 5% of the patients had a weight gain of more than 5 kg).
Avatar n tn I am not hungry and this is the problem!!!!! i have lost a bit of weight and want to know how to become interested in foood again. Hope you can help.
Avatar f tn Paxil is known for a lot of weight gain, being almost impossible to quit taking, and for making it hard to try something else once you've been on it. But for many it's the best thing they've ever found. You just never know. Personally, I'd go see a practitioner of integrated medicine or a naturopath, as they tend to be better with hormonal problems than regular docs and see if you can't get back into balance. Good luck.
Avatar n tn As you can see, Effexor is amongst the least likely to cause weight gain, and in fact, is known to contribute to weight loss. You may wish to try an alternative on the list above. It is unclear why anti-depressants cause weight gain. Here are some possibilities: • Overeating, as a result of depression, can cause weight gain, esp if the person had lost weight in the pretreated depression • Most anti-depressants, mood stabilizers and antipsychotics are also anti-histamines.
Avatar f tn I am not feeling hyper at all. Hair loss has definitely decreased, thank goodness. Energy level remains the same. I am still feeling warm/hot. I will be having blood work in December if anything changes I will be in touch.

Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for a couple of years now due to some family-counseling issues. I was reluctant to go on them at first. But for my family, I thought I'd try it. It did reduce my anxiety. I slept better, deeper, and longer. A life-long stutterer, it cut my stuttering by 50-75%, and improved how I was viewed at work (I believe), by my calmness, better speech, and ability to focus. I had suffered from significant anxiety my whole life up to that point.
Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for 10 years on and off and whenever I have a question about any medications that I can safely take I call the pharmacist and they are good about answering my guestions.Good luck!!
Avatar n tn Combining fluoxetine or paroxetine with phenytoin can also lead to increased phenytoin side effects and reduce blood levels of paroxetine. You really need to discuss the potential drug interactions with your own doctor.
Avatar m tn When I went on anti psychotics (at the time lithium, paroxetine, welbutrin) i gained 10 lbs each month, until I went from 145 to 235. It could have been due to my hypothyroidism, but that was under control at that time. I think the culprit was the lithium. Good luck!
Avatar m tn So I have been taking Paroxetine(Paxil) for 4 months now and it changed my life, took away my O.C.D. and my social anxiety. But i had side effects so i started taking Bupropion(wellbutrin) So after 1 days dose which was 1 pill twice a day, I had my O.C.D. back about half as bad and my social axiety came back about half as bad. So i stopped taking the Bupropion and i am still taking the Paroxetine but it's not working as well as it did before.
486038 tn?1300063367 t know if you remember , but Six weeks after being jerked off of the Zoloft that I had been on for 14 years and abruptly switched to Paroxetine the next day without any taper, My vision went haywire and that was the start of this whole mess with me! I as much as anyone can really believe that SSRI's can have these kinds of effects!!! Did you discontinue the Cymbalta? If so how long have you been off of it?
Avatar f tn Has anyone been perscribed Paroxetine for their neuropothy symptoms? I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues.
1326416 tn?1370927001 After six weeks, symptoms of depression decreased 57% in the group taking hyperforin-rich Hypericum and only 45% in the group taking paroxetine. Patients taking Hypericum were 42% less likely than patients taking paroxetine to experience negative side effects. The researchers concluded that, "In the treatment of moderate to severe major depression, Hypericum extract... is at least as effective as paroxetine and is better tolerated.
Avatar f tn Ive been switched from Paroxetine to Zoloft as am looking to try for a baby and this is supposed to be 'safer'. My doctor has changed me over gradually. I took Paroxetine 20mg for 2 weeks plus Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg, then went to Paroxetine 10mg and Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg and 5 days ago I've stopped Paroxetine altogether and am now just on Zoloft 50mg...I've went to the doctors yesterday because I feel terrible terrible - headaches, feeling incredibly depressed and crazy!
Avatar n tn 2 to 1 month for someone not being introduced with a new drug. Could be shorter for your husband.
12182312 tn?1427683956 My paroxetine is 40mg, and metoprolol is 25mg. Are they safe to take together. Is one an upper, one a downer. I take Paxil in the morning, metoprolol before bed.
152264 tn?1280354657 I have had Lhermitte's (electric buzzing, pulling, or vibrating sensations in my lower body or hands when I bend my head down) for over 13 years with NO explanation. No trauma, radiation, vitamin deficiency, etc.; first they said MS and then they said not. Two MRIs (2002 and 2006) showed nothing to account for the Lhermitte's. Has anyone else had this and did you ever get an explanation?
Avatar f tn My wife had BC, she has already had the chemo and surgery and is now on the part of the treatment focused on preventing recurrence (herceptin and tamoxifen). She had been taking paroxetine for the last two years. Now she started to see the psychiatrist at the cancer centre (the one who routinely sees cancer patients) and the dr advised her to change the paroxetine for another antidepressant.
Avatar f tn d agree they should disappear, however, the irony is in the fact that these things appeared or worsened with weight loss. This is one of the biggest issues and source of anxiety for me - I can do the dieting no problem - it's the physical symptoms that make me think I am harming myself while trying to actually help myself by becoming healthier. I will check my thyroid again, although my hormone results always came back normal.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just need a bit of advice. My meds are 30mgs Remeron, 30mgs Paroxetine 150mgs WellbutrinSR and 300mgs Lithium. The Wellbutrin and the Lithium are 3x daily. My question is how can I get over the severe fatigue I experience one to two hours after taking the morning dose? I'm open to all suggestions. Right now in my armory is gum, small pieces of dark chocolate and laying down for about 5minutes-cuz I'm restless and need to get things done.
Avatar n tn (I posted this in the free community forum, but I'm also posting it directly to a neurosurgeon / neurologist in the hope that I receive a fairly rapid response. I've also added a few extra symptoms I've thought of since my original post.) I don't know where to start, but here goes.
Avatar f tn I had a severe allergic reaction to Citalapram and was taken off and had to wait for my appointment with the psychiatrist which was a week and a half ago. He perscription for Buspirone and Paroxetine. I didn't start taking the medicine right off the bat because of fear that i was going to have another bad reaction and ended up having another attack last night. I started taking the Buspirone this afternoon and was wondering how i should take it and the Paroxetine.
