Paroxetine or citalopram

Common Questions and Answers about Paroxetine or citalopram

paxil

Avatar f tn Yeah -- only take this or Effexor if you've tried absolutely everything else first and it didn't work. Very hard to stop taking, and once you're on it, it just seems to be stronger in its affinity for neurotransmitters making other meds harder to work if you have to stop taking it. Start elsewhere.
Avatar f tn Hi Iv been on many different antidepressants and I'm currently on paroxetine and I'm the same - I sweat in day at night esp when exercising or even walking fast. It's annoying but iv been told there's nothing you can do - you can either try a different drug, deal with it or stop (if this side effect is more a bother than your reason for taking it). I feel your frustration.
1852502 tn?1319489882 its like ive lost my safe zone , ive tried citalopram and paroxetine... no effect whats so ever and also diazepam they dont work no matter how high the dose .
Avatar n tn Women have a higher risk of breast cancer recurrence if they take tamoxifen along with paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline... but NOT citalopram, escitalopram, or fluvoxamine. .....About 30% of women on tamoxifen also take an SSRI for depression or hot flashes. FDA will add new warnings..and Medco is alerting physicians if a woman on tamoxifen gets paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline. Suggest using one of the other SSRIs or venlafaxine if needed for depression or hot flashes.
Avatar f tn i was wondering if you could tell me why anti depressants make me anxious i have tried prozac citalopram paroxetine and am now on mirtazapine. once i went up to the 30mg i have bad anxiety?
Avatar m tn SSRIs often interact with the metabolism of lots of medications. Paroxetine (Paxil), Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Citalopram/Escitalopram (Celexa, Lexapro) are inhibitors of CYP2D6 - the enzyme responsible for metabolizing lots of medications. Fluvoxamine (Luvox) is inhibiting another enzyme. Sertraline (Zoloft) do not have this side effect, and Venlafaxine (Effexor, a SNRI) is also perhaps a good choice, as itdood said.
1723975 tn?1309987899 Hi i have depresion and i am too sleepy, the psqui. doc put me on paroxetine less than 10mg for now then he said i will incrise the dosage, my question is, will this med make me gain wight???
Avatar f tn citalopram, fluoxetine (made me SUPER anxious), paroxetine (no good) rispiridone (too sleepy), quietipine (much too sleepy!), apipirizole (horrendous dyskinesia that made me want to rip off my skin and somehow crawl out of my own body!) , pregabalin, beta blockers, venlafaxine (took away all emotions), lamotragine, and am currently on fluvoxamine maleate (200mg a day), and prn lorazepam and diazepam.
Avatar m tn I have bouts or episodes of panic attack every few years, and over time, my psychiatrist has tried me on four or five different SSRIs. My experience is that one size does not fit all, and that the medications have to suit individual patients. For example, Escitalopram and Paroxetine made my anxiety worse. By contrast, both Citalopram and Sertraline calmed down the anxiety and panic very nicely. I think you are wise to be worried about this.
Avatar m tn I have been on Paroxetine for 10 years on and off and whenever I have a question about any medications that I can safely take I call the pharmacist and they are good about answering my guestions.Good luck!!
Avatar n tn You also need to be more specific for Doctor Gould. Your heading says paroxetine, or Paxil, while your post says Prozac. Which is it? He'll need to know.
Avatar m tn I went to an urologist and tried different anti-depressant pills like Fluoxetine, Sertraline, Citalopram and also Paroxetine. All of them seem working well in the first week so that I can last more than 10 minutes but after two weeks or more I can only last about 3 minutes which is not very satisfying because these records are achieved after dry masturbation. My penis is very sensitive and when I masturbate using lubrications I can ejaculate even in less than 15 seconds.
Avatar n tn My doctor recently put me on Paxil for my anxiety and Panic Attacks. I am 21 years old and have never been the type to take perscription drugs or otc drugs for that matter, so I'm not big on side effects and all that. I have been taking paxil for 4 days now and on day two I realized that I was yawning so much that my jaw was starting to hurt (yawn) I cant stop. Im really really tired and the yawning is getting quite annoying. Is this normal and when does It usually stop?
Avatar f tn They keep the brain from being overwhelmed. But in the case of nerve damage or a nerve system malformation (Like Chiari or Fibromyelgia) they can help tremendously with chronic pain. I only know of Paroxetine and Cymbalta from what I've read, but to be honest, I think the risks of side-effects are pretty dangerous, I'd suggest you ask your doctor about Lyrica instead. Lyrica also can have side effects, but so can any drug.
Avatar m tn can u plz give a name of one or tow that actually works...i have tried cypralex which caused a lot of trouble and didn't work same for zoloft.. i raised the head of my bed today by 15 degree...
974371 tn?1424653129 I have not heard of Prozac(fluoxetine) being used for treatment of IBS. Citalopram(Celexa), Paroxetine(Paxil) are the 2 we're familiar with prescribing here in Upstate NY.....However, Paroxetine has some nasty side effects..... And I've not heard of Neurontin being used for IBS either.....I agree the dietary changes are a better bet to manage symptoms.....
1326416 tn?1370927001 Patients were given either 900mg/day Hypericum extract (the dose found in two capsules of AMORYN) or 20mg/day paroxetine (the prescription antidepressant Paxil®) for six weeks. For patients who did not respond quickly, doses were doubled after two weeks. After six weeks, symptoms of depression decreased 57% in the group taking hyperforin-rich Hypericum and only 45% in the group taking paroxetine.
Avatar f tn My ocd has been going crazy the last 24 hours. I have to recite a words or phrases (certain ones) ans if I do it wrong or mispronounce it I have to start all over again until I get it right, my head hurts and I get really upset if I have to re-do it, sometimes it takes several times to do. Also while I am reciting if the time chances on the clock I have to recite. it's like a ritual. Anyone have this?
Avatar f tn Ive been switched from Paroxetine to Zoloft as am looking to try for a baby and this is supposed to be 'safer'. My doctor has changed me over gradually. I took Paroxetine 20mg for 2 weeks plus Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg, then went to Paroxetine 10mg and Sertraline/Zoloft 50mg and 5 days ago I've stopped Paroxetine altogether and am now just on Zoloft 50mg...I've went to the doctors yesterday because I feel terrible terrible - headaches, feeling incredibly depressed and crazy!
