paroxetine long term side effects

I went to doctors today purely to discuss medication for my anxiety and i didnt like what i heard. He told me side effects are seizures and bleeding (worst possible side effects). is it really worth the risk?

How long have you been taking these medications. There are start up side effects associated with paroxetine that go away once your system is used to the medication. Some doctors will start with 10 mg of paxil/paroxetine and titrate up to 20 after a week or so.

I have Meibomaian Gland dysfunction and Blepharitis, both of which I never had until this all started, and guess what, they are on the rare side effects list for Paroxetine too! Just coinsidence? Who knows? Has the Restasis helped with the dry eye? What differences have you noticed so far? I read that it may take up to six months to see the most results. Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.

So I have been taking Paroxetine(Paxil) for 4 months now and it changed my life, took away my O.C.D. and my social anxiety. But i had side effects so i started taking Bupropion(wellbutrin) So after 1 days dose which was 1 pill twice a day, I had my O.C.D. back about half as bad and my social axiety came back about half as bad. So i stopped taking the Bupropion and i am still taking the Paroxetine but it's not working as well as it did before.

Jails, institutions or death are the most common long term side effects I have seen, or the person quits and has a program of recovery. Why do you ask?

i wonder did a doctor tell you you had multiple chemical sensitivites....

I have read all the side effects but it is hard finding anything on the severe long term effects of taking this drug. Does anyone know a link or maybe some answers?

hi folks-just looking around for info re long term side effects of treatment and came across you lot ranting away on your keyboards! I successfully completed 6months tx in april 2007 and am now unable to do very much due to the fatigue,pain and confusion I've suffered since. Just wanted to be added to the list of damaged souls. Have lost a lot of friends to this horrible disease so am very glad to have cleared it but at what cost?

BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. I was weaned off by dividing the dose in half and using that for 2 weeks then half of that for 2 weeks and then totally off of it. I hated that medication because of all the side effects you have while you are taking that medicine. It has so many side effects to it, it was unbelieveable. After being off that med slowly I finally adjusted well.

Just to say, insomnia is a very common long-term withdrawal problem when you stop antidepressants. When did that start? How well did you tolerate stopping the paroxetine? Why did you stop taking it? Did it stop working? Did you taper off slowly before starting the cipralex? I'm asking to see if we can trace what's happening and when it started so you know what's causing what.

First thing I wonder about is........are you doing this weaning/transition process under the supervision of your doctor? I hope your answer is yes.
