1140169 tn?1370185076 The gastro report says they biopsied a polyp in my stomach which was benign, and they found my stomach acid is too high in my osophogis (sp). I am to continue taking 2 pantoprazole per day and repeat the gastroscopy in a year. I just thought I'd post my results because I had posted that I had these proceedures done.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Hi, my doc put me on 14d Prevpac treatment today. I've been taking Prilosec during the past month or so to get my symptoms under control. It works quite well for me. I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack? I'm scared of stopping Prilosec as my symptoms always get worse when I tried to wean myself off the drug in the past.
223372 tn?1240920676 I was very restless and anxious and the warnings were to quit it immediately if I experienced those symptoms. So, my OB put me on Prilosec OTC this week----I have read pros and cons on line.....anyone else out there have an opinion?
1210142 tn?1266077031 I have used Pantoprazole and Plavix since 8/2008. My cardiologist took me off Prilosec due to concerns of interaction with Plavix. I'm also on aspirin, ramipril, and metoprolol. I started having moderate chest pains in Nov/Dec 2012 and my BP spiked to 150/110 max with a 130/90 min. I had also noticed that my blood was clotting almost instantly after a wound. I have a cat with claws so blood-letting is common in my home.
Avatar f tn Hi, There are only 5 proton pump inhibitors available. Omeprazole(prilosec), lansoprazole (prevacid), pantoprazole (protonix), rabeprazole( aciphaex) and esomeprazole(Nexium). All are of same efficacy. If there is no response to one, switching to another might be helpful. Get your doctor's opinion before changing the medications. ================================================================ The information provided is for patients’ education only and is not a medical advice.
Avatar n tn Hello, I 'd like to direct you to Ted at Earth Clinic.com. I followed his advice > As we age, body secretions decrease, that includes gastric acid. The symptoms of Low acidity vs hyperacidity is the same. Traditional Dr.'s orders for these symptoms would be as what you are taking, and so did I. No relief from those, it even made me nauseated.. Instead after years of issues like yours, I started taking Magnesium Chloride.
Avatar m tn http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/barretts/index.htm Please discuss with your doctor about trying a combination of medication. Stop Prilosec and see. Keep a stress diary to see if a particular food causes more problems than the other. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn If Prilosec is ordered QD, can a nurse give it in the morning for GI upset, if it is normally given at bedtime?
709686 tn?1277432159 maybe a little weight loss. Omeprazole (Prilosec or Zegerid) causes me all kinds of problems. Headache, chest pain, red/irritated eyes, all kinds of body aches, constipation and extreme thrist. Problem is...protonix is by script only and VERY EXPENSIVE! Someone talk to me about this. Has anyone else experienced these problems with Omeprazole?
Avatar f tn I noticed when I lay on my left side and proped up a little it helps so much! Not sure why.
Avatar m tn Prilosec, Nexium Side Effects: Acid Reflux Medication Heart Attack Class Action Lawsuit Investigation A recent study found that proton pump inhibitor heartburn treatments such as Nexium, Prilosec and Prevacid may be linked to an increased risk of heart attack, heart failure or sudden cardiac death.
177337 tn?1310059899 Hi there. I posted months ago because I was on Prilosec and noticed the very same thing. When I thought back to all my times on Protonix or Aciphex, I can DEFINITELY tell you there is a correlation. I have extreme acid, so I've tested this over the last few months. Every single time I start one of these, my PVCs become much worse. When I posted I got a lot of responses that the same thing happened to others. Now I just take after-the-fact drugs like Zantac, tums, and Gaviscon.
690060 tn?1247841741 Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has new data showing that omeprazole (Prilosec/Prilosec OTC)—a medicine used to reduce stomach acid—reduces the anti-blood clotting effect of clopidogrel (Plavix) by almost half when these two medicines are taken by the same patient." "...Patients using clopidogrel should consult with their healthcare provider if they are currently taking or considering taking omeprazole, including Prilosec OTC" but then, there's also this: http://www.
Avatar m tn ve seen comments with all kinds of opinions comparing the effectiveness of different forms of Prilosec (generic name omeprazole). But that are usually prescription brand-vs-generic, or OTC (non-prescription) brand-vs-generic. What I am looking for is real-life experiences from people who have moved from PRILOSEC OTC to GENERIC RX OMEPRAZOLE, or vice versa. I've been taking PRILOSEC OTC (non-prescription) for quite awhile, after years on the original prescription brand Prilosec.
Avatar f tn I think it really depends on the person. I've tried Prilosec, Nexium and Aciphex, all for extensive periods of time. My # 1 all-time fave is Nexium, and Aciphex is also very effective. Prilosec doesn't seem to work as well. Just my experience.
Avatar f tn i would ask for motillium and try taking metamucil every day
Avatar n tn I am still waiting for biopsy results. My doc asked me to try Zantac, Prilosec, Pantoprazole Sod but nothing gave me even the slightest relief. I also tried baking soda, apple cider vinegar, TUMS but they didn't help either. I don't know what to do. I don't know why my doc thinks it is acid reflux. Other than chest tightness and pressure in the head I do not have other typical symptoms of acid reflux.
Avatar m tn If the lump in the throat is caused by acid (very possible given what you describe), consider taking a course of antacids (I recommend Gaviscon for starters, Pepcid Complete if that doesn't work, and finally Prilosec OTC if that doesn't work after a few days each) to see whether this helps take the feeling away. If it does then you've essentially traced it down to it being acid. If it doesn't after 2 weeks, then you may wish to go see a doc just to be safe.
Avatar m tn Perhaps you can find some helpful information. I take one Prilosec, 20 mg(prescribed); Prilosec ,10 mg is sold OTC at any pharmacy. Here is the website: http:digestive.niddk.gov. I do not know why, but the website takes you to Google that list the same URL. Click on the Heading, Digestive, and search.
Avatar f tn ~$.37/pill for 20mg Generic, ~$.56/pill for 40mg Generic, ~$.95/pill 20mg Brand, ~$1.10/pill 40mg Brand. For the moment, see if your doc will allow you to use generic Omeprazole (aka, Prilosec OTC). While there are better things out there, it might work as a stop gap measure that's not as extreme as Reglan. Good luck.
Avatar n tn globus sensation, dyspepsia, left upper backache, sometimes diff breathing. She told me to take Prilosec for two weeks and suspected GERD. I said I have no heartburn and I was told that sometimes there's no heartburn on GERD. So I went back after 2 weeks. My dyspepsia was relieved by prilosec but still have the other symptoms especially the backache and I could feel a tickling sensation a little far down from my left armpit( I think a nerve or muscle connected to LES?).
Avatar f tn I ended up taking gasx and prilosec for mine. It helped! Good luck!
Avatar m tn He actually did an endoscopy and colonoscopy and found only some inflammation in my esophogus, which he prescribed prilosec otc for. I have been taking the prilosec otc and it did not help with my symptoms at all. I then went online and did some research and thought maybe something is wrong with my hormones so I went to an endocronologist who did some blood tests and found that I had extremely low vitamin D, but nothing else wrong, so she prescribed some strong vitamin D pills for me.
Avatar n tn This is a question for your physician. It can probably be handled with a telephone call.
Avatar m tn Hi there! I was just prescribed meloxicam 15mg for arthritis along with prilosec for acid reflux. I was wondering if you could tell me if meloxicam would be better for pain relief compared to 800mg ibuprofen. Also does it take time for meloxicam to build up in my body for maximum benefit? If so, how long does it take? Thanks very much!
