Avatar n tn I was prescribed 40mg of prednisone for 5 days and was never told to take an antacid or ppi while I was on it. Fast forward to the 6th day I was woken up to chest pain and my heart fluttering. I wasn't sure what it was and couldn't fall back asleep until hours later. I went to the ER two days later for the chest pain and they gave me an oral steroid to take along with 2 weeks worth of famotodine to take. I was on the 20mg once a day even though I was instructed to take it twice a day.
Avatar n tn This is a question for your physician. It can probably be handled with a telephone call.
Avatar f tn You should start to feel better within 2 to 3 days. It may take up to 4 weeks for pantoprazole to work properly so you may still have some symptoms during this time.
Avatar n tn I am being weaned from pantoprazole with ranitidine. It seems that now that we have reached the pantoprazole every third day stage, I am getting weekly bouts of diarrhea, especially if I drink more than one cup of coffee. Is this a side effect? The diarrhea wakes me at night.
2064754 tn?1333375663 There are exercises, but it will be difficult for me to explain here. Initially anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxant drugs will help. Protonix (pantoprazole) is used to treat erosive esophagitis and other conditions involving excess stomach acid. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1140169 tn?1370185076 When I first started on pantoprazole 6 or 8 years ago, it started working for me from the first day. About a year ago I complained to my Doc that I was getting heartburn, etc, too often again, and he upped my dose to 2 pantoprazole per day, which barely improved things, hense the scope. I've tried Tecta, which didn't seem to work for me, but I've never tried Prilosec nor Protonix (I don't think).
Avatar f tn s been 2 months since i had this fatigue feeling and stomach upset, i gad an ultrasound done for whole abdomen and everything went fine, also had thyroid panel and blood test and lipid panel, all went fine except for slightly elevated triglyceride level and SGPT level.
Avatar f tn Doctors prescribed to many antibiotics which led to my acid reflux. Got on pantoprazole for the reflux, it’s been working great but in the last week I’ve had this pins and needles sensation in my legs feel nauseous and I can’t seem to shake that somethings wrong with me. I’m in constant fear. I don’t know if the pantoprazole is giving me the tingling feeling because I’m not on anything else?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pylori. I used to have diarrhea 5-6 times a day if I ate a meal or if I ate a meal late. Is it common for pylori to cause such persistent diarrhea? I did a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. The intestines were fine but I was told I have gastritis. I have also been informed I have GERD and iron deficiency anemia. Starting to think this might be chrons. Been on pantoprazole.
Avatar m tn Hi I am nineteen yrs old and for the past six months I've had pain while urinating and just a month ago foamy urine development. The urinalysis was normal. A renal ultrasound performed was also normal as was the results of a prostate exam. The urologist said not to worry about it. I also have hyperacidity and black stools from time to time as well as a constant (more or less) pain on my upper right stomach. Probably an ulcer. I'm taking pantoprazole for it now.
Avatar f tn I had developed gastritis last september due to excessive intake of antibiotics as i developed stomach flu prior to gastritis. the doctor prescibed acidity tablets for a month. i was feeling ok for a few months then suddenly i developed nausea a week ago and the doctor prescibed tinidizole with acidity tablets. i took for 3 days along with my homeopathy medicine but i still feel heaviness in my head when i lie down so im not able to sleep. kindly advice me what to do.
Avatar f tn I just had a pneumonia almost 2 months ago and i had ulcer last November but already been cured by pantoprazole domperidone. Now i feel like my ulcer reoccured again coz im having heartburn, stomach pain and bloating and nauseous. My question is can i take pantoprazole again even though i just had pneumonia and still having shortness of breath and chest pain? Pls help coz i dont know what really is the cause of my difficulty in breathing is it from having pneumonia or my ulcer.
Avatar f tn I should also mention that I had a clear colonoscopy which is great. However, the pain never really seemed to be lower- it's between my navel and rib cage often radiating to my back. The diarrhea is sticky and either black or grey and it burns. I tested negative for occult blood. Rarely with the dry heaving fits do I vomit, but when I do it is dark purple or greyish.
Avatar n tn I have been on pantoprazole for only 8 days and have developed very sore lower back pain as well as pain in my legs. Anyone else having the same problems on this med. I am going to stop this med and go onto Zantac 150 and see if this is the problem. I am active and never had site back like this.
Avatar n tn My main concern is I am due for my total body scans soon and need to starve for six weeks or so for my levothyroxine dose and at the same time, I am currently preparing for my medical licensure exams. Am I to postpone my scans after the boards? What could you suggest? Your opinion would be deeply appreciated. More power and many thanks!
Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! From your profile I see that you are a teenager and I assume you live in the US. I would guess that this is anxiety, which I see that you also have from your profile. Pantoprazole (Protonix) is only by perscription and treats GERD which I don't think you have and Domperidone is not FDA approved in the US so I would not recommend either of these suggestion.
Avatar f tn I was on this for three months then my prescription was over. During my time off of pantoprazole I noticed sharp abdominal pains, nausea, bloating, and a general unwell feeling. I saw a GI who didn’t offer much insight but scheduled a colonoscopy/endoscopy and put me back on pantoprazole 40mg. During my time awaiting my procedure, I didn’t have abdominal pains unless I was extremely bloated, gassy, or nauseas which were almost nightly occurrences.
Avatar m tn For this, I was given couple of antibiotics which used to work for 2-3 days but then again it used to be back. So then I was given Rifaximin 550mg twice a day for a week, but I got acid reflex on 4th day so my Gastro advised to stop it. Stool was fine for around 30 days but then it started again in similar pattern. That Gastro told me it would be mucus and to ignore it if there isn't any other symptom and gave me pre and probiotic something of the name Gutek or Gutex for a month.
Avatar f tn gave me a very heavy duty antibiotic which got rid of that, also gave me Dexalant for the burping, which I had to stop taking because it gave me diarrhea, then she gave me a prescription for pantoprazole sodium Dr. 40mg instead, which I have been taking for a few weeks & that hasn't helped either. The burping is constant, even during the night when I get up to go to the bathroom.
Avatar m tn Having diarrhea after antibiotics is not rare, but also not normal. I recommend you to have stool test for C-diff and for occult blood. Having problems with breathing is probably from the acid coming up into your throat and then down into lungs. You should fix this promptly, it may damage your lungs (aspiration pneumonia, with lung scars). There's another possibility - alergy to one of antibiotics. Would you say you have any lips or face swelling or skin itching?
Avatar m tn Then I started having stomach pains and I was put on the antacid pantoprazole and a stool softener for constipation. After about a month and a half I was feeling so good I stopped taking the pantoprazole after consulting with my doctor. A week later I was having bad GERD and went back on it. I still don't know what initially caused the bloating, why it ramped up to GERD so quickly off the medication, and how damaged my LES is now.
1198742 tn?1293503376 Linda, Sorry if my writing is wandering (the ol' brain is in the clouds today) but I hope some of this info will be helpful... 1. Did you receive a phone number from the transplant clinic? I have one that I got even before being "listed". UCSF calls it "Triage/Advice Nurse". This number can be used 24/7 by patients with cirrhosis.
Avatar m tn How long will I have to take pantoprazole 40mg/day for my acid reflux? Will I ever be cured from acid reflux hence no more medicine OR this is a life time thing which means continued use of daily medicine?
